location goo, staff helpful
-the breakfast buffet is great! -staff members are polite and helpful. -clean surroudings as well as the room.
- i don't like the gov't tax and service charges, it should be included at the price.Guests and customers will be shocked when about to pay the bills.
bungalow accommodation was beautiful and romantic for a couple, facilities were great and pools were clean, food was wonderful and staff were very friendly and polite. transfer from the airport and back again.
no tea or coffee in the room
The food was great, but (TMI) the food gave me diarrhea. After a couple of days, and many imodium (diarrhea pills), I realized I needed to brew my own morning coffee, stay away from their juices and only drink bottled water. This is actually difficult to do because they strongly discourage bringing in outside drinks. I'm my case I was so desperate I smuggled in 6 liters of Summit bottled water along with whatever else I needed to drink. After a day or two of making my own coffee and powdered juices, I felt much better and my wife and I availed the zip line, horseback riding, scuba diving and jet sky. The beach is awesome too. We even were allowed to perform on stage with the Karaoke duo!
Other than spending days on my toilet in paradise, the other thing I didn't like was the cost. It is quite expensive for an ancient, albeit beautiful resort. If the rooms were 2500 php less, it would have been a far better deal.
The location was fantastic.
The food was of a poor standard when compared to other resorts in the Philippines. Also the bungalow that we stayed in had geckos and spiders which stopped us having a decent night sleep. If these things don't bother you then it's not a problem.
I like all facilities, and the day's I spend there, jet-sky, the beach, the zip line, river cruse, pool facilities kid's enjoy the maximum, and the leisure moments in live bar and disco. Good food, staff very educated and all the time avaiable.
short time passing there.
Good water pressure- good hot water - showers, beautiful beach well maintained facilities/resort grounds, nice location although remote, attentive staff although there can be some communication issues with english language. The pool facilities are great and would be a kids dream!
The beds need replacing they are far too soft and too small, maybe okay for asians but not not for larger westerners. The bathroom fittings were almost about to fall off the wall, again refurbishment desperately required. Given the location which is a fair way away from both Dapitan & Dipolog the only way out is by hiring a car or or bike transport which can be rather expensive. Whilst the buffet breakfeasts are good value the variety of food offered is mainly attributed to asian culture. The cost of hiring of water craft is also very overpriced in comparison to other resorts/countries, perhaps this is why the equipment is often not being utilised. The resort is spaced out over a large area which requires a fair amount of walking around to get wherever you want to go not recommended for the elderley and too be honest is a bit of drag, unless you have the money to stay in the beachside huts. Personally I wouldnt recommend this resort to anyone, as there are much better and more modern resorts available at a variety of other destinations which offer far better accomodation value for money
Wonderful view, great sunsets, Staff was good..
A concerned Guest for others wanting to stay at the Dakak Have stayed at many wonderful Resorts. If you enjoy an owner who walks around and looks at you like you’re a nobody, then you must go to The Dakak! Owner makes you feel very unwelcomed! If you like a place where the owner has armed guards around him and make’s HIS guest’s feel uncomfortable then choose the Dakak! Food was high priced, and not very good. Contact with the Resort was all most impossible when wanting to book, online or by phone. And the things you could do there were very much overpriced. If you want to go into town they charge you way too much for a ride. The owner of this Resort is very disrespectful to his guest’s. Not going to sugar coat what was supposed to be a wonderful week. Some guest’s left early because they felt so uncomfortable with the owner and his goon's. Who wants to be around someone who has a price on his head? He is a Kingpin and ex politician of The area. And who wants’ to be in the middle of a gun fight at a Resort? Don’t go to the Dakak Resort was nice, hard to relax with that kind of atmosphere.
The location is excellent, and if you get the right bungalow and timing it is an ideal resort to hang out. Great swimming pools, clean beach, beautiful bay, glorious sunsets.
It can be awfully noisy at times. The reception area was unpleasant because of the noise, and when there's a disco party they crank the volume up to ear-splitting level.. Watch out at peak times for groups of 300 or so invading your space...
The setting is beautiful and the gardens well laid out. Italian restaurant food was good (but wine poor) Diving is good and staff helpful.
When you arrive you are given a paper with 'House Rules' listed, as if you are joining the army. This doesn't set a very good tone for service delivery. In the room there was a kettle and cups but no tea or coffee. When I enquired I was told I would need to upgrade from my Delux room in order to get tea. There is no room service and rule 4 says you can't bring your own food and drink. The only way to get to the shops to buy tea bags was by hiring a van at over p1,000 (a staff member offered to pick some up for us) The Bamboo Restaurant and Bar is very poorly run: The table mats are dirtier than the tables; some tables have salt etc, some don't so you have to walk around looking for salt and pepper pots; the buffet 'assorted fruits' was only pink water melon and pineapple (no mango); one morning I was told they had ran out of tea! Fortunately I had some in my room, (despite rule no.4); a few days later I was once again told they had ran out of tea, which turned out to be not true once I asked the waiter to go and check, indicating staff are not properly briefed ; clearly nobody in the kitchen has a clue what a club sandwich looks like, I just got white bread with the fillings, not even toasted; if you want a pizza you have to go and fetch it yourself from the Italian restaurant (but it was good); the Cocktail of the Month was a Pink Blush which was fine the first time but looked and tasted different on each occasion, suggesting the staff had not been properly trained how to make it; one evening I was told there was no beer in the bar, but I was told there was beer in another bar but the staff refused to bring it, I would need to go and drink there. After complaining the manager fetched some from the other bar, then when I mentioned all the other points I thought needed attention in his restaurant he told me all the places around the world he had worked, as if his cv made up for poor service.
The white beach was beautiful. Snorkeling was good too.
Too expensive for the quality of the facilities. Not the level good for international tourists. The air-conditioner broke in the middle of the night. And the room was very humid and uncomfortable without aircon. Noises from the Karaoke bar in the resort lasted until past midnight. If you're looking for a place to relax, this is not the place. I felt very tired after one-night stay. They charge $20 dollars per person (not per van) for airport pick-up and drop-off. That's expensive.
