We got very lucky to stay at Islandfront I even though we availed islandfront II. It was a nice place to stay because its just beside the beach with a beautiful sunset! All the people there were very accomodating. We'll definitely go back in this place with our families.
Bring insect repellent to prevent mosquito bites.
Initiallly, my impression was excellent : a nice room with a decent bathroom, mosquito net around the bed, private proch looking to a garden... A gem in paradise as some other reviewer wrote... How wrong I was.. I booked a room with tv and a/c, but there was no tv and it turns out that electricity theoretically runs only from 2pm to 6am and it's the only time you can use the ac. The rest of the time the hotel theoretically provides electricity through a generator, but you cannot use it to power the ac (unlike other hotels in the vecinity). I say theoretically becaue the first night there was a blackout, the second night there was some sort of line problem and their resort was without electricity while the other ones did have, and in any case their generator was out of order most of my stay - it was either overheated or "they are fixing it", so I had no tv, no ac, no fan, no light, no nothing. Another problem is that this place is located some 100meters away from the main Island Front I resort, so for dealing with the staff you had to get out and walk along a muddy path, get onto the main street walk some 100m, then get into the main resort. As for the cottage, to get to the room you have to cross an unpaved and unlit (not even when there WAS electricity) path that became a muddy swamp after rain. To add inslut to injury, once you cross that and get to the row of cottages, the roofs of the cottages do not have water drainage, so guess where all the water goes... right onto the path you have to walk in order to get to your rooom. And you cannot avoid it, since the path is exactly 50 cm wide : on the left you have the garden and the fence of the complex and on the right the porches of the other rooms. When there is no electricity there is no hot water either. But then again, water is apparently provided by means of a tank which the staff didn't bother to check at all, so I had no running water AT ALL (hot or cold) during most of the stay.
-The design of my room. I dig the native vibe. -Eletricity and water 24/7 omg a gold mine among all cheap accomodations in El Nido -peace and quiet -the staff are really friendly and helpful -The grocery store just downstairs. A huge plus for us who dont really want going to and fro the town proper to buy stuff -the room rates. -the glorious sunset.
-network coverage for Globe subscribers. It was a real struggle. -i guess the wifi? -the walls are too thin. I could totally hear someone else's music even if he was playing sounds in lowest laptop speaker volumes.
Very quiet - aside from the roosters nearby but that's everywhere in the PI. a bit far from town but that can be a plus. Breakfast was excellent and they can help organize tours, onward transport, etc.
Too far from town! Either a 30 minute walk or a tricycle taxi to get to the center of el nido.
Food is so much expensive..
This is a very nice pension house. with a different style, and virtually facing the sea. Quiet place, friendly and helpful staff, rooms with the unique design, but a refreshingly new reception, lobby and restaurant design. More than value for money and just 5 minutes away from Bayan by short distance tricycle.
They should constract a connecting way to islandfront2.
Price was good, but free upgrade. Friendly people. Nice mattress.
Wifi only works in lobby. Food was not good, price was high. El Nido isn't that great.
The staff were friendly and polite, making us feel very welcome on our first day in the Philippines. We had the beach to ourselves, great for sunbathing privately! The breakfast was included and wasn't bad!
The location is fine for the secluded Corong Corong beach though perhaps not for those who want a bit more choice in restaurants, bars etc.
Staff was very helpful whenever we needed smth!!! free coffee in pulic area good breakfast
a lot of mosquitos 10 min ride / 30 min walk to town
Well located and good breakfast.
You can hear every noise from the surrounding rooms.
The place itself was amazing especially for the price. It is a bit of a walk to town but I'm sure if you take a trike it wouldn't be bad. I loved that the beach was pretty much your backyard.
The restaurant. On our second night there my boyfriend ordered a grilled chicken dish and after he began eating it we realised that it was entirely raw on the inside! I'm just glad he didn't get sick.. so everything is lovely besides the restaurant.
I like the superior room that we occupied because its located facing the Island and beach. Have also a nice space to relaxed in the balcony. I loved their gardens. They put more rooms and that was cool. Staffs was still very friendly.
Seaslug put a branch in the hotel and i dont like how they cooked. I still like the food from last time in which Island front staffs are the one cooking for the guest. The restaurant they built in front of the hotel was also nice but boring. The restaurant in the center of the hotel and facing the beach still the best for me to dine in every meal. Hope next time they put a roof and not open so even its raining we can still use this restaurant. Room service should be very careful with guest belongings, my personal Body towel has been twice missing! And they setup a towel on top of the bed but dirty. Found it because sand all over my skin when i used it after shower.
Homemade bread in breakfast
Water/shower didn't work most of the time, wifi didn't work most of the time, the hotel is overcharging you for everything and they know it.
room is clean
extremely noisy, could not sleep at all dogs barking, cocks crowing the whole night, people talking on the street, noise of tricycles and vans passing, feels like living on the street
It felt like the the was being run by pre teens. It gave a lord of the flies vibe which I found interesting
I didn't like that this hotel took all of the rats in the area and put them into the walls, seems a bit authoritarian.
Simple but very nice rooms !! With small balcony :D
The place is a.combination of 3 different places. Me and my friends were separated in two different ones.. No wifi in my location (yolinda) and muddy entrance. Original location (the one with the reception and the same name) was or looked a loooot better than the other two where we were accommodated.
Generally the staff were friendly. Food was ok, after all it's for free, that's what counts :) Overall, it was a good stay :)
I woke up at around 3am to take a bath, the water coming out of the faucet was murky and with sand. I guess their filter was not working in the wee hours of the morning.
I like their location, peace and quiet. Love their food.
Staff are very polite. And the price is really worth it.
The room was pretty nice and the TV worked
I didn't have water the whole rime I stayed there! The staff kept telling me to wait for awhile but nothing. Staff not really friendly or helpful. I would not stay here again
Perfect location at the beach (outside El Nido town) Very friendly staff Nice decorations and flair Trip organisation was good
Wifi only works in common area Food is not bad but not excellent
At firste the lock the room vas nice vote you will aspeckt, the location vas god the area vas good. Then shower drain pluckt ok thins happens, but then the water for the sink and toilet disapert and so on.
the water problems and you tolte them three times and now bogy simt to carer. my bucking of the van to go back to Puerto princesa, arskt them and remindet them two times then I com for the van thet they have to scrempel to get it buckt.
The location is awesome, the restaurant is just in front of a stunning bay where you departe from to the tours and you may see the sunset. But even better is the kindness of its staff, always ready to help you out.
