Some reviews stated that this was really run-down. I don't agree that it is so run-down to the point it's not a pleasant stay, but it is indeed in need of some TLC. Holes in the ceiling and the roof should be repaired and the lighting in the rooms should be updated so it's not so dim. Probably because we were nearing the off-season, but this hotel felt almost deserted. I think we may have been one of only two groups of guests staying there. It felt a bit awkward at times, and we felt like we were inconveniencing them a bit by using the facilities since they had to open them just for us. Much of the dinner menu has to be ordered 6 hours ahead of time and the bar/restaurant closes early, so although we wanted to eat there one of the nights, we just got a pizza instead. They don't have a map of the area to give to guests for convenient walking around, so plan to get a motorbike or tricycle to bring you back if you don't know where you are.
The first day, the manager/owner (i think) talked to us about payment for everything and said it would be fine for us to pay for everything plus meals in cash when we check out. So, we confirmed on the day before check out that it was still alright and told her we would pay that night since we'd be leaving early the next morning and went to the ATM to withdraw all of the cash to pay. Unfortunately, when we returned with the cash she had already charged my credit card for about 75% of the total bill, so we were charged the foreign transcation fee on the card, plus the fee for the ATM withdrawal, the fee to get foreign currency from our bank, and the fee to change the pesos back to USD when we left since we had about $200 extra cash after that. It was very frustrating and there was no apology from the manager or offer to cancel the card charge and take the cash, so it was a disappointing end to our stay.
Overall, despite these negative points the resort is still a great choice and a good value.
The young man on the staff was especially oustanding! We felt very comfortable and welcomed by him from the first day there. He saw that we were watching their bird and brought us bread so we could feed the bird and take pictures. The hotel had beach towels and swimming goggles to use free of charge. The pool was really nice, the view was outstanding, it was removed from the main area of Boracay so it was peaceful and it was not overrun with tourists and people trying to sell us things. Loved the dining huts right on the water where we could eat our breakfast. The VIP room was well-priced and really spacious with a strong A/C unit, a good TV, a nice table with chairs plus a balcony with another couple of chairs and a table. Really comfortable bed and plenty of shelf space for storing luggage. The staff at the gate was very helpful with getting transportation to white beach, which was about 15 minutes walking.
