Gierloz (15 km) – The little Polish hamlet of Gierloz is the location of the remains of Führerhauptquartier Wolfsschanze (Wolf's Lair). Wolf’s Lair was the codename used for a major Eastern Front military headquarters of Adolf Hitler during World War II. It consists of a group of bunkers and fortified buildings in a thickly wooded area, surrounded by several rings of barbed wire and defensive positions. Hitler arrived on the night of 21 June 1941 and departed for the last time on 20 November 1944. He spent over 800 days there during World War II.
Owczarnia (20 km) – Owczarnia is the home of the Museum of the Mazury Land.
Ketrzyn (30 km) – This town has several sights and attractions for tourists, including: the Neo-Gothic St. Catherine’s Church, the remains of the old castle wall and a brick gothic castle founded by Teutonic Knights with a museum.
Saint Lipka (40 km) – Known as the pearl of the north Polish Baroque, Saint Lipka has a Baroque basilica - one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture.

The neighborhood was quiet, no traffic noise. At the reception they were nice: I could use their computer to check for train schedules. The room was quite spacious. Bathroom OK. Dinner OK, though it was almost a blind choice (see negative points). Though it's not so close to the town center, the walking distance was not a problem for me. Comfort was a problem. Huge East-facing window just over the bed with nothing but a veil-like curtain; at 4.45 a.m. there was already a lot of light and that's the hour I woke up... Mattress too soft for me, and the bed was made in that "Central European/Slavic style" that I just can get used to. On the last night there was a lot of noise from a group that wasn't even on the next room (walls to thin?). Breakfast was buffet, but uninteresting; there was no machine to make toasts! (I asked.) Communication was also a problem: only 1 receptionist spoke broken English; the rest of the staff only Polish and German. (From my experience, that's a problem in all Masurian region: not even in restaurants do they have English or French menu. |

Sehr schöne Lage, guter Service am Empfang und im Restaurant. Der Grillabend ermöglicht gute Kontakte zu anderen Reisenden. Mein Badezimmer wurde erst 1 Tag vor meiner Abreise das 1. Mal geputzt, Seife war in der Dusche nie vorhanden. Unter der Matratze nur eine Spanplatte ist zu hart und zu billig. Ein Lattenrost muß schon sein. |

gutes Frühstück, sehr gutes Abendessen im Restaurant, große Hilfsbereitschaft bei der Rezeption, als es im Haus Probleme mit dem Internet gab. Der Serviceberater, der die Hoteleinrichtung reparierte,kontrollierte auch meinen Laptop. Das Hotel müsste dringend modernisiert und renoviert werden. Es wirkt etwas steril. Die Zimmer sind zwar groß aber irgendwie ungemütlich. Man könnte mehr daraus machen.Die Zufahrt (Straßenpflaster) ist sehr unangenehm |

Das Essen war ganz gut und Preiswert.Bedienung war freundlich.Zimmer waren sauber und groß,machten allerdings wie auch das ganze Hotel einen irgendwie sterilen und selten benutzten Eindruck. Wir waren in diesem Hotel mit noch 6 anderen die einzigen Gäste,was angesichts der Zimmeranzahl etwas seltsam anmutete.Es wirkt alles etwas steril. |

Die Restauration, die großzügige Anlage,das Hotel selbst. Es gab keinen Hinweis, dass wir in einem Nebengebäude und nicht im Hotel selbst untergebracht wurden. Das Nebengebäude hatte keinen Aufzug und war nicht so komfortable wie das Hotel selbst war. Da ich selbst 72 und meine Mitreisenden 70, 75 und82 Jahre alt sind, war das Koffertragen (keine Hilfe des Hotels) in den zweiten Stock schon etwas beschwerlich. |
