The Hotel Polonia is very well positioned in Krakow in that it is close to the Main Rail Station and an easy walk to the Old Square with its numerous restaurants. It is situated on the "Planty" a park which encircles the Old City. The hotel is in the communist style but we found the rooms comfortable and the typical Polish breakfast very adequate.

The hotel is excellently located, near the main railawy station, at the same time 5 minutes walk to the heart of the Old Town. -- The room was very clean and the breakfast (although for an extra price) offered a wide variety of buffet. -- The bathroom was very well equipped, newly made, aesthetical and comfortable. -- Parking was also available, although for an extra fee, but still cheaper than the commercial parking facilities. -- All in all, this is excellent value for the money. The hotel is characterized by a looming atmosphere of the 1980s, however you can consider this even charming. -- The hotel staff was somewhat reserved. No smiles at first sight, but later they became more relaxed. -- Since the building is at the intersection of two main roads, the rooms are very noisy and as there is no airconditioning, you had to keep the windows open on hot summer nights.

Very close to the main Train Station, Old Town and shopping centre. Quality of the room was poor, very old furniture. Whole room vibrated whenever a tram passed by the building.

We liked the old fashioned decor of the hotel and its atmosphere in general. We also enjoyed the tasty breakfast with many varied dishes. We did not like the cigarette smell on the first floor in the hall.

Great location and full of character, We was unhappy with the service in the restaurant as the waiter did not want to serve us and said we had only 30 minutes to eat a meal - it was only 8.30pm on new years eve and we had booked it in advance. After complaining to reception everything went ok. Needs updating in the restaurant, could also do with a lounge area.

Perfect location, the only advantage of the hotel Hotel have tram on facade and every time tram going through hotel whole building is waiving like sea :) First night was like nightmare coz they gave to us room on facade side and I had feeling that I am leaving on the street coz noise level was the same (trams are working from 4am till 12 am so I wake up at 4 am at first night :) ). On the second night we have asked for less noisy room and they gave it to us. Building was still waiving but at least no noise behind windows, I was happily dreaming but at 8 am I woke up because of hammer rattle and at 8:30 am they start to clean rooms with vacuum cleaner (what mark should I set to hotel staff ? poor or excellent?) breakfast is poor and is serving with not fresh food, my suggestion = do not order breakfast! they have shopping mall within 5 mins of walk and you may eat there for reasonable price what should i say? is this 3 stars hotel? I think NO even for Ukraine!!!!

Excellent value. Spacious bedrooms and good size bathrooms because the hotel is from a more prosperous era.. Close enough but not too close to the main railway station, where the airport shuttle arrives. Central Krakow so that all the main attractions are within a reasonable walk and many are much closer. Buses to the salt mines and to Auschwitz are just round the corner. Shower gel would have been nice. Pillows a bit hard.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel close to train station and Galeria shopping centre. Inability to have constant connection to wi-fi in our hotel room. The restaurant quality at the hotel was of a fair standard. The television in our hotel room needs to be upgraded to digital.

We enjoyed our stay very much at Hotel Polonia from February 5th-9th. Reception service and meals were excellent. The room over-looking the ice-skating ring was brilliant and very central to all locations. We would have appreciated at least one English channel on our tv. As it turned out channel one was very disruptive so as this was a Polish news channel it was a bit annoying - this was in room 78! We definately want to book another 5 days sometime late March -April time. Thankyou again for your homely hospitality we experienced from all the staff. Do dobaczenia! Alvin & Jozefa Knight

Handy for the Railway Station around the corner (with trains to the airport) and for getting to the Market Square (10 mins) walk or for a tram stop right outside the front door if you wanted to go anywhere else. Also good on the price, but it is not a travelodge! Even so, if you're looking for a budget stay with breakfast thrown in, then Polonia will do. It's a bit dated, but I suppose there is so much that it could do to bring it into the 21st century. It also has a rather dreary atmosphere about it on the inside as though it has no heart and no soul. The rooms are ok, but there is no coffee making facilities. However, we knew that from previous reveiws and brought our own travel kettle. The lift can be fun!

As a frequent visitor to the Polonia, for us it is 5 stars. It has everything we are looking for,in a city break.Good rooms, good food, mannerly staff, good location for train, bus, shopping, we just cannot fault it.Our friend who had to go to hospital, late at night, said the girl on reception's help was excellent. She said that there might be a language barrier, when he got to the hospital, so she wrote out his symptoms in Polish. Can't ask for better service than that.

good all round hotel, ideal location for train station, market square and barbican, free wifi in room good clean and warm rooms, wih spacious bathooms cheap and relaxed and offered everything you would want for a break in krakow. I would stay there again, but preferred the hotel demel where i stayed last traffic noise at the front hotel rooms, the rooms at the back of the hotel had newer windows, i would recommend a rear room, the hotel is on a fairly major junction so plenty of cars, buses and trams that make the noise, so understandabe really.

The best location for Krakow Central Rail Station, Old Town and Galeria shopping centre. Room, although basic, was large, comfortable and very clean. Free wi-fi available in rooms and computer to use in the lobby. No need to be overly concerned about reports of traffic noise.

Location is excellent!!)) very close to the center. Breakfast is good rooms are specific..you would feel as if you are back to the ussr times!) old wooden classic furniture. If you are not a modern interior fan(i mean glass & steel) and like classic style & would love to live the way communist elite lived 20 years ago.this is a very good place) Everything was fine..except the furniture & the style.!)
