Comfortable and spacious rooms. Good service. We arrived at 12 am. The person in the reception then seemed rather uninterested and apparently looked at us as a disturbance. He told us that check-in was not until 2 (and received our luggage). When we came back at the "right time" he was very polite and willing to help, however. But remember: the first impression..........!

We did know the location of the Hotel Royal prior to our booking, however it was booked with the price in mind. It is a great location for the Rynek Square and the Castle, but is on quite a busy junction, so I'd recommend asking (as we did) for a room on the quieter side, overlooking the Planty. Our room had been up-dated and was huge! With a modern bathroom & very large beds. The hotel has original Art Deco/Nouveau features, but I believe is being upgraded. No Tea/Coffee making facilities or Hairdryers are available in the room. Slightly threadbare in places. Quite noisy if near the trams.

This wonderful old huge hotel was right next to the Castle with rapid transit underneath. It is in the heart of the city but very quiet and comfortable. Loved their restaurant. We would definitely stay again. The hotel is not for handicapped people. Lots of stairs and long corridors but few elevators..

New bathroom. Good breakfast. 20 minute walk from train station.Close to shops, restaurants and castle. Large, quiet room.Very helpful and friendly hotel staff. Even suggested a breakfast box for the next morning as we were checking out at 5.45 am. Took some getting used to the passage ways and different stair cases. Very crowded with tour groups at breakfast 8.15 am.Bed linen was too small for the double beds.

A really excellent location, right in the old town across from the castle. Hotel staff were genuinley helpful and the room was clean and modern bathroom and shower. Our room (115) was looking onto the street and the noise of the trams was severe, every 10 mins from 4am to midnight. Shook the room a little. You could ignore it with the window shut but was a slight issue. Small price to pay for a great location and friendly staff/clean room.

It is very well located. It is a short work from the main square. And is not too far from the river as well. The place is clean and the room was large and very liveable. The bathroom was newly refurbished and very clean. The breakfast is very unappealing. It is basic and has everything you would need but nothing to write home about. Some fruit would have been nice.

This is my 5th stay in total at the Hotel Royal, my 3rd since November 2011 and I wouldn't stay in any other hotel. The rooms are luxurious, spacious and reasonably priced. All the staff at the hotel including cocktail bar and in the restaurant are always very helpful, even supplying a bucket of ice for our room!! Food at breakfast is plentiful but the largest meals are in the evenings. Plenty of choice and the Lemon vodka is delicious (although quite strong so didn't have too many!!) Located in a prime position next to the castle and within 2-3min walk of square and Cloth hall. Trips can be organised through reception and are well organised and very interesting, with comfortable transfers to places of interest. I cannot fault the Royal Hotel but would request to stay on Planty side of hotel if booking as tram side can be quite noisy from early morning!

Despite reviews we found it very easy to navigate the route to/from our rooms to Breakfast Room. We had deluxe at the back of the hotel which were quiet. We dined twice at the pod restaurant in the evening which offered great food at unbelievable prices. The bonus was fantastic music provided by a quartet group which provided a totally "european flavour". Although the rooms were cleaned every day, the beds on our last night were not made, appearance of the top cover just pulled up and rumpled. Advised Reception on check-out who apologised and quickly notated. All in all a great w/end and would stay again.

All very satisfactory. Wonderful location. Staff at reception very helpful indeed: very professional. The scrambled eggs for breakfast were the best I have had in any hotel restaurant! I will very happily return to the Hotel Royal. I liked the fact that it was an early C20 building: a period piece, especially its exterior.

- The ancient building is beautiful. - Great location cause it's just less than 10-minute walk to the Old Town; and just opposite the Wawel Castle. - The food is good too. - The private bathroom is clean and tidy. - When a tram passes by, it's noisy and I can feel the room is a bit shaking... - The single bed will be a bit too small for a man.

“Personnel was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very new and rooms are very clean. It's really top of the bill and its 4 stars more than worth. Positive point of attention according to breakfast is that all the warm food (eggs, bacon, sausages) are served on request without extra costs. Advantage of this is that everything comes right of the kitchen as fresh as can be. Really excellent hotel!” Rob, Tegelen |

“Fantastic hotel, best I have stayed in for a long time, room was excellent, breakfast was fab, staff - nothing was too much trouble for them. Location was great only 10mins walk from the Old Town and the Castle and for the evening we were just round the corner from square in the Jewish quarter that had all the restaurants. Would definitly return, thanks to the staff for a great holiday!!” Andrew, Kinross |
