The staff are simply the best, from pickup at the airport to one of the most original and outstanding interpretations of Puerto Rican cuisine. At Gio's Bistro, Gio is a one-of-a-kind chef. He knows what Puerto Rican cooking is about, but he also knows what Tapas are about. The result is an original synthesis of Puerto Rican dishes and Tapas, where small portions highlight the elegant flavors of multiple Puerto Rican dishes.

The bathroom retain some of the ad hoc funkiness of the original structure. They are ok, but are less impressive than the bedrooms.

They have "free breakfast", but you need to order something in the menu. Then, you need to wait forever!!! We try to start our breakfast around 9:30am, but we finnally have our "lunch" aroung 11:30am!!! Did they try buy the materials?? Just a simple omelet!!! It wastes our time for our vocotion plan! Very bad memory of it in this trip!

The property is beautiful and a nice quiet retreat. Carlos, Gio and the staff are friendly and professional. Try Gio;s crab cakes..Amazing.

Bottle water is not provided in the room. It would have been nice even if I had to purchase it. Stop by a grocery store on your way in,

Loved this property. Excellent location and very warm staff. Beautiful surroundings and ideally located. Great hotel for a peaceful vacation with close proximity to the beach and area restaurants. Would definitely go there again.

Room could have been a little larger. But overall a great experience.

View off the deck of the bungalows was very pretty. Sunrise was nice so I took some pictures. That was about it. I'm sure there must have been other nice things but I wasn't able to stay an enjoy them.

When I arrived I called from airport to let them know I would go for lunch (since they didn't serve lunch at the hotel). They said fine call us and we will pick you up. They picked me up and after checking in she pointed up the hill and said "second on the right". Each bungalow is 2 units so she meant the 2nd unit of the first building on the right not the second building....ok finally found the right room. Go in and no open windows, no fan on and no AC on. Way over 80 in the room and very humid. I tried to get the ac controls to work and they would not. Back down to the office and back up with batteries for the romote ac control. Before that I was going to open up the windows and the sliding doors to the porch but guess what? NO screens anywhere. Back down to the office. They offered me another room where the ac worked and there were screens on the windows (to open at night for fresh air) but still no screen on the sliding door. I finally got settled in only to find out that the rest/bar was not open for the 3 nites I was there. That was important to me as I was traveling alone and did not want to have to walk or take a cab for my evening meal. They made no mention of this when I called about lunch from town. There are very few choices to eat in town and I was looking forward to relaxing at the pool and being able to get drinks and food. Now I would need to schlep into town for 2 meals a day!. The price of $278/night made this the most expensive place I had planed to stay while in Puerto Rico. $278/night are you kidding? I couldn't get phone service or internet in the room or in the office so I borrowed their phone and booked the first flight out of there the next morning. Went back to old San Juan and stayed at the lovely El Convento Hotel for $245/night.

Culebra is small enough that it took about 5 minutes to drive to town. Even the farthest beaches could be driven to in about 20 minutes. The room was clean and had a very juice seating area. The balcony was a good place to dry wet clothes and to sit with a beer and watch the wild chickens wander about. The staff were helpful, although sometimes you had to wait for them to come back. They loaned us beach towels (had to get beach chairs elsewhere), answered questions, and were very organized.

The food was edible, but not fantastic.

I really think it is the coziest resort on the island.

Bed and pillows were a little hard.

    The view from the balcony

Not worth the 300+ per night that we paid.. This is an extremely overpriced 3 star (at most) hotel

The staff and service were exceptional . They will often give you a ride to town as needed. One staff even was available to pick me up from a late night excusion. They were willing to be flexible for late checkout when I asked. Breakfast was exceptional. You get a menu which includes omlet or scrambled or other choices. They make it for you fresh and its included in room cost. They offer you free use of bikes to ride. The grounds are gorgeous, the view is decent. View of the ocean slightly obscured by some trees. They have some hummocks setup to use for relaxation and a pool. Room quality was high and overall was quite clean. Of course, the island itself was absolutely gorgeous. Flamenco beach is gorgeous although I found it a bit crowded in the off season. Hike to Rosario beach from a small trail out of the parking lot from Flamenco is worth the 20min walk. Swimming with sea turtles and stingrays at Tamarind beach also a highlight. Several nice and quaint bars and restaurants on the island and the food was good.

Distance to the hotel from town and ferry docks is a 10-12 min drive but if you have to walk, its like 35-40min and I walk fast. I walked it 3-4 times and late at night the streetlights are few and far between. If you make sure to call a cab or call hotel for a ride this may not be a problem for you. The wifi was spotty at best. In my room it was nearly impossible to get although I was able finally achieve. But in the main house it should be strong and I found the router kept dropping my device repeatedly. Given its distance from town the cellular signal was poor. I had no bars from sprint most of the time. Miraculously, I did get intermittent texts, and I succeeded at making a few calls a getting a few on 0-1 bars. Although i had a nice flatscreen tv, cable did not work. I didn't really ask them to fix it since I was busy with the beach and other things. They have a restaurant on the grounds but it was closed during my time. That being said, my overall experience was quite positive.

Food in the Guava restaurant was outstanding. The staff was very helpful and courteous at all times.

Bedrooms and in particular bathrooms need to be updated. Even more basic, bathrooms need to be properly cleaned. On arrival there was still TP stains in the sink from the previous guest. Our second night, when we returned to the room, they had made the made but didnt clean the bathroom or even empty the trash. That same day, the water heater didnt work properly so we had to shower in cold water. It was fixed the next day but the shower head, in bad shape, made it difficult to get the right temperature. For paying more than US200/night, this should not happen.
