What a great place away from the frantic life style our society has adopted. Quiet and reclusive, with great views from your deck. Other beaches and down town are just a short car ride away. Awesome snorkeling within walking distance, on the property and down the road. All basic needs well met, considering you are on a small almost jungle island. The Florida Keys undeveloped. The area is quiet, at the base of a forest which is basically a jungle. Wild life seen included- Birds Chickens, Deer. Sea creatures - turtles sting rays fish and lovely coral.
There was a lack of shelf space and dresser-storage space. The spring bed set was a little dated if you are used to a new bed, but still a comfortable sleep.
The view is excellent.
They need to clean more, we found Cockroaches in the kitchen. Also the street to access to the Tamarindo area in horrible.
The extra charge for kids , not a good deal , even for a small family with two kids
LOVED the off-the-beaten-path, tranquil location and spectacular view; exclusive access to the BEST snorkling sites on the island (Luis Peña and Tamarindo Bay); and perfect amount of space for 1 couple. Very clean facilities and accommodating, friendly staff.
Site takes a little exploration (not all facilities are close together). Missing some kitchen equipment (***though staff was quick in supplying it!)
The view from my apartment was awsome. Everything was very clean.
Decoration in rooms needs to be updated .
Had the most relaxing vacation at Tamarindo Estates! Quiet surroundings (except for the roosters :) ... but loved them too. Back to nature, incredible views off Building 200 center porch - spend a lot of time there when we weren't at the beach. Definitely would recommend staying here.
Location, amazing view, overall cottage itself
Abundance of ants in kitchen! Mattress was uncomfortable Very thin, hard, plastic pillows (pillow cases didn't stay on)
The snorkeling spots
It would be great with a partner or a group of friends.
Being there alone - felt a bit isolated and needed to make contact with other people. Perhaps some group activities on the grounds in the beach would have been excellent.
Amazing sunsets. Very peaceful location. Some of the best snorkeling in Culebra right from a private beach.
Excellent views of the Caribbean Islands and Cays West of Culebra. The Manager and Caretaker staff were friendly, and excellent at their jobs. Nice pool area.
Although very clean and well maintained the accommodations are very dated and small. Suicide shower. No washer & dryer on premises. You have to go into town to laundromat behind gas pumps. No restaurant on premises and it is a significant distance to town.
The views and surroundings were awesome. Secluded and quiet too. The staff was very, very helpful. Wifi worked well too. We could walk to their private beach which is not sandy but rough dead coral. Chairs are there and a nice porch as well as the swimming pool area. We could snorkel in water off the private beach as well. We could also walk to Tamarindo Beach and snorkel there. Walking to Flamenco Beach which is sandy is a bit of a hike, but could be done. Pretty sunsets.
It was difficult to get taxis to come out and pick us up. You definitely need a vehicle or golf cart to get into town, groceries, etc.
I had an incredible stay here. The staff went above and beyond what was necessary. For example, we did a whole food shopping and forgot cooking oil. I expressed this to the staff and they brought some to me along with the shampoo I forgot as well! The location can't be beat. Culebra is incredible and everything is close by. Tamarindo Estates is quiet and well kept.
I guess I have to complain about something because that's what is expected of a review. The only thing that could possibly be improved is maybe providing bikes to guests so they can get around without renting an expensive car. My friend complained about the lack of television stations (there are only a few), but he's crazy. Who goes to Culebra to watch tv???
The forniture and cleaning in general Poor in maintenance
You couldn't beat the view and location to the water.
Seems to be very outdated with old beds and and very rustic accommodations.
Close to beach, snorkeling. Great view from porch.
Location. We swam with the sea turtles!
Bed, too small, very uncomfortable. AC very noisy.
the privacy was awesome
Needed a bigger bed, i'm 6'4" and a full size mattress is not really comfort
Really great location. The views from the sun deck of our villa was spectacular, we enjoyed a few sunset bbqs. It was a perfect relaxing retreat! Flamenco beach was really close. The onsite pool was lovely too. We really couldn't fault it. If you are looking for luxury, room service and mod cons forget it, Tamarindo is rustic and perfect too!
Good location with great sunset views Liked the private beach for snorkeling Very friendly welcome from Rick
Bed was small an uncomfortable Apartments good do with some updating to water heating systems Could hear noise from next door apartments
Gross amenities. Pool was terrible and covered in leaves. The apartment was covered with live insects.
Privacy, Great Views, When we where there in Feb, we did not see anyone else in the "estates" and it felt like we had rented the hole place to our selves. It was amazing. Great snorkeling and beach near the entrance to the estates. Expect a very private and relaxing atmosphere. The is a pool and a beach house that are placed water front to the private estate beach that's shared for the guest but again, we had the hole place to our selves.
The place is dated, noisy a/c unit, the bed is hard, the kitchenette is dated and our fridge had rust around corners and edges. Bathroom was purpose built, and the paint on the place had many smudges and fingerprints. The road to the estates is in mayor disrepair. Must rent a Jeep or utv to be able to travel around the island. The estates are tucked far back from anything (which I really liked) but beware. And dont expect water front stay, the buildings have about 3 units per building and are up on the side of the hill. Pictures can be deceiving.
The beach had the best snorkeling.
No housekeeping services.
Beautiful water view. Very nice private beach and pool area.
It was run-down, tackily furnished & decorated, poorly equipped for cooking, and, essentially only tepid water was available for showers, and cold water for everything else. We are not "fancy" folk, but the level of accommodation and the unwillingness to spend any money on essentials, like functioning window shades & electrical outlets and pots, pans, utensils and dishes is unacceptable. Because of the location, this place could be great but the owners have to spend some money on upgrades.
