Score from 308 reviews Excellent
This downtown boutique hotel features a roof-top terrace overlooking San Juan Bay and historic Old San Juan. Decorated in 19th-century Colonial style, it offers apartments with a full kitchen.
Score from 10 reviews Wonderful
This historic hotel is well-maintained with modern amenities. Water, coffee and tea and fruit is available all day in the Lounge. Public areas are very welcoming. Restaurants available as well. City center location prime for city touring.
Much of Old San Juan was under construction while we were there, requiring long walks up and down hills. Quality shops are far apart and do not make city shopping easy. Taxis can only go one-way with a $12 minimum, so quick rides up the hill get expensive.
The gardener took the time to show us her gardens and was very passionate about her job, I was very impressed
Ambience and historical significance.
Waiting outside for airport taxi in the heat.
Everywhere I looked in the hotel there was something interesting to see We had a delightful guided tour through the kitchen herb garden Each evening we enjoyed meeting other guests at the wine and cheese party.
Excellent location near the best places to see in old San Juan PR
Very friendly staff Lovely hotel Good amenities
Small bed for 2 Problem with the shower Window broken
Location Wine and cheese evenings on the terrace Architecture
The staff was always helpful with anything we needed. They had great advice on local eats and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.
Friendly and helpful staff Old Architecture Wine reception Quiet room Hot tub Complimentary bottles of water
Fitness center hot and humid
What a wonderful, unique and beautiful property. It was very conveniently located. The staff were all so helpful and polite! We especially loved the staff at the Pizza e Birra restaurant-they were amazing and so was the food! We absolutely loved it and we will definitely be back!
Let me be clear-these are not things we did not like, they are simply suggestions. Everything was fantastic! It would be great if there were more information about the property and it's history along with a map of the property. Even better if there was a book available to purchase. We felt a little like we may have missed some hidden treasures around the property. Also the wine and cheese hour was wonderful, just wish there had been some sangria and some soda available also.
The outdoor terrace, great location, walking distance to everything, complimentary wine and cheese every evening, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere
uncomfortable mattress in our room, air conditioner fan blowing right on the bed, lack of tourism information--we asked questions and were referred to the tourism office which was closed for our entire visit, a few brochures would have been helpful
Beautiful hotel, great history, great location
Service in restaurant was very slow and food not great. Only had breakfast.
The hotel is conveniently located in Old San Juan and has a great patio for eating and drinks and other nice amenities. The hotel premises are beautiful. The staff was very helpful too.
The air conditioning in the room was very loud and on constantly...there was no auto button. The loudness of the AC made it difficult to sleep. Also, the shower was not that great and the coffee in-room was bad!
What a great stay! One of the coolest and most unique properties I've ever stayed at. The wine and cheese hour was fun, the staff was great, the ambiance and location were unbeatable. Stay here at least once in your life.
I couldn't stay longer!
This hotel is first class in every possible way. Great location, top notch accomodations, great restaurants, friendly and knowledgable staff. Can't wait to stay here again!
The hotel location, friendliness of the staff, beauty, cleanness.
Everything was excellent.
Not a single complaint.
Location in old San Juan was excellent. Hotel had history, used old fashioned door keys, had lovely decor with large room, 16'+ ceilings with beams & fan and functioning french doors & shutters, 3+ restaurants on site, open interior courtyard, verandas with seating everywhere, evening tastings of wine/cheese/fruit, hot tea & cold water bottles always available, evening room prep, laundry facility, and VERY friendly & accommodating staff. Our stay was outstanding.
Rooftop "dip pool" and hot tub only big enough to fit 2-4 people so not a place to spend the day or send the family, just a quick dip in the evening to cool off. Our bathroom was small (4'x5' with 4'x4' tub/shower combo) - but was in keeping with the "convent" vibe and was just fine as we were there to shop, tour, and dine not spend the day primping.
Very conveniently located, the restaurant was excellent! The facility was beautiful, and environment very relaxing.
They messed up on our reservation. We reserved our rooms in November for a trip in May, so we planned well in advance. However, when we arrived, they said they had our reservation, but not our rooms! They did accomodate us for the first night in a different room that we had to share, then we got the rooms we had reserved for the rest of the trip. But it was a bit annoying considering how far in advance we booked.
The old world charm did it for us. Beyond that, the proximity to attractions in Old San Juan, the nightly wine and cheese reception with fruit bar throughout the day were perks that made our experience an excellent one. The junior suite was good to have and gave my kids a homely feel. The architecture was charming yet bathrooms were modern for our convenience. We did not use the valet parking much but again it was value to have the car on hand and safely away from the narrow streets of the old san juan at the valet lot. The cherry on the cake was the complimentary beach access at La Concha Resort in Condado. I would definitely recommend staying here and making it my base for future trips to Puerto Rico .
Sudden construction noise from the suite below me was very loud and disturbing at 1 pm. I was told it would stop in 35 minutes but it went on. I saw the lobby receptionist and she assured me they would stop right away since they couldnt move me to a new room . The noise ended right away but a few minutes later it started in the room to my right. I went out and spoke to the supervisor and he shut the work down. Staff should be more attentive to these items and despite the noise nuisance i think the property is worth it.
The hotel was beautiful
Room was a bit crowded
The whole concept of living in an architectural monument such as a convent was by itself a unique experience. Add to it the comfortable mattresses and the exquisite service. The rooms were user friendly except for the WiFi, although it was all over the premises, it had weak signals, reason was due to the thickness of the walls of the building. The cheeses & wine complimentary from 6:00-7:00pm on the third floor gave us a chance to meet different people from all walks of life. The hotel being in the middle of the old city made it easier for us to walk and explore the exquisite historical site of San Juan.
WiFi weak signals due to thickness of the walls of the convent building.
The staff was wonderful - they always went the extra mile to ensure that our stay was both enjoyable and fun-filled. The hotel really provided a five-star experience. I would not hesitate to recommend it and I really hope to return again!
Honestly, there was absolutely nothing to complain about!
The historic building, Pool, nightly wine reception, maid staff was excellent
Bathroom could be cleaner, area around sink was dirty
