The hotel needs a good cleaning. There were feces for 2 days on the upstairs landing, green and black mold on bedroom and interior walls, and in shower, cereal container used was dirty, sheets had a fresh stain when we got there. The dogs barked for 3 hours in the middle of the night and due to open design their barks reverberated keeping most guests awake. The owner/manager didn't stay at the hotel and power was lost affecting lights and water for 11 hours. There were no candles and only 1 battery powered lamp in the hotel. He didn't respond to a guest's call so we had to wait to use toilets/brush teeth/shower until he arrived in the morning to serve a breakfast with milk that had turned. No apologies were offered.
The location is great for access to El Yunque and distance from San Juan. The design of the hotel is unique and at one time was stunning. Rooms have view of the canopy and mountains. The conditions encourage meeting other guests who are seeking a similar experience off the beaten track.
Had some issues locating the hotel, trip up the hotel took us up some rigorous roads, and hotel use rainwater system that didn't really output hot water. The serenity and facilities balanced out the bad.
Beautiful open-floor plan located on the outskirts of the rainforest. Room was spectacular with a great pool.
Breakfast had only sweet and no savory. There was no possibility to order eggs or toast or sandwiches.
Amazing view, beautiful hotel en great room.
Gorgeous views and hotel
Not easy to find: rugged dirt road up to the inn: barking dogs at night: limited hot water and electricity
Attractive small inn in the middle of a forest for complete relaxation.
a bit difficult to reach.
Welcoming staff, wonderful view, nice décor, cool breeze, mosquito-free environment, well stocked bar, good breakfast.
I slept on the futon; it was okay but I assume the bed was more comfortable and I didn't get my own pillow.
Quite a drive up (narrow, steep and bumpy but fun), open air bedroom set in the treetops with a view and a cooling breeze, stars and the sound of frogs and birds all night, and an escort of dogs on a hike among flowers.
Breakfast wasn't much. Road to lodging was very bad and directions were not easy to follow. Do NOT use the coordinates - you must use Google maps to get there.
Lovely place in the rain forest, away from the busy areas.
The water preassure is minimal and makes it a hard experience some times: you need to leave at least 40 mins from one toulet flush to the next, otherwise the water tank will not still be filled. Really uncomfortable for taking a shower or brushing your teeth as it takes ages and water does not really war up. Breakfast is quite basic too. Ownets have approx 5 dogs in the hotel that stay around and inside the building. While this is charming, you better watch your step for some dog poh or you may have a surprise as we did.....
If you want to explore the rainforest, this is definitely your place. Open-style building with an incredible view and qith great hiking trails just in the door. You'll be much better accesing the hotel with a 4x4 car as there are steep and not well conditioned paths... But that's the beauty of it!
Although I loved being in the presence of the dogs, they did bark quite a bit in the early morning, making for some unrestful moments of sleep. It also took us a minute to figure out how to derive hot water from the shower. From the previous reviews, we thought hot water would be an issue -- there was plenty of hot water. We just had to learn the mechanics of the faucet.
Best advice I can give about this place is if you decide to say, be where you are. This place is a gem tucked into el yunque rainforest. If you come in knowing what to expect, you will have an amazing time. This place certainly isnt for everyone, but for those whom it was designed for, welcome home. Our favorites were hiking and the open windows with light flowing fresh mountain air that literally gently rock you to sleep. Had the best sleep here. This is a great place to visit if you are comfortable with driving a bit and heading out on excursions. In 4 days (3 nights) we hit Culebra, Fajardo, San Juan and the rainforest. This place is centrally located for experiencing all of the east coast of the island. Thank you for an amazing experience and the most insightful recommendations! Hope to come back soon.
We didn't get our money back even though we could not keep our reservation. While I understand this is a business, the attitude of the person I talked to was unsympathetic and cold.
The road to the property, the proximity to amenties
The views, the staff, the accomodations
Electric outlets in the lobby
The location and views were breaht-taking
so tranquil and pretty but fun vibe for a perfect getaway from san juan- great service- precious dogs hanging around- you feel like you are at home in the rainforest
Unreachable... You need a 4X4 to go. Ridiculous cancellation policy
Wasn't able to get to it
I would loved that the dinner were included on the total price but everything else was really good! The road to get there is really rocky but not impossible
I really loved the privacy, its so calmed, all nature. The doggies they have were really cute, they have board games and the pool. I loved the sound of the coqui at night and the sound of the rain on the zinc sealing :) the staff was really nice and humble! Im definetly coming back
The silence, the view and the relaxation. It is very different from other hotels. It is in the middle of the jungle, so the expectation should be accordingly. Rafael is very friendly. One night is too short to get the atmosphere.
Staff was very friendly View and Hotel were both the nicest I found in Puerto Rico
Peace and remote location
Breath-taking views. Cozy functional rooms. Main bed was great but pullout bed a bit tired. Not luxurious but gorgeous. You will love it if you are outdoorsy and not expecting pampering.
Everything fürs very well. Wish, i could so it again
There is nothing i dislike about the property. The only thing-only stay there if you are driving! Taxi drivers dont really like to come up there and it is kind of remoted area, you cant really get around by foot.
Friendly and helpful staff, awesome views, hiking trails, nice light breakfast, clean spacious rooms, nice friendly atmosphere, very relaxing
May be our stay was on one of those bad days for the manager. 1. Hotel seemed like a one man show - No water supply in the morning. Had to take water from the swimming pool. 2. Breakfast is minimal. 3. Papa John's is the only delivery restaurant who delivers to this place. Takes about 45mins. There are no other restaurants within miles of this place. 4. Drive can be tough esp. in the night. Short stretch of dirt road. Front wheel drive cars will slip during uphill . Can be a dangerous drive during rain. 5. Follow the signs on the road. DON'T blindly follow the GPS. 6. No internet 7. Power outlets are outside the room in the common area. 8. Basic things like coffee maker, phone not available. Host doesn't stay in the facility. 9. You might find different insects and other small creatures everywhere since this is in the forest.
1. View from the hotel is amazing. This hotel has more of a cottage feeling. 2. Extremely unique music created by insects and birds in the night 3. Friendly dogs 4. Can have a hike in the rain forest. Beautiful flora outside. 5. Host was good and cared about our needs. 6. Have a unique set of random books. Good to sit on the rocking chair in the night with a bottle of wine and read books.
Very peaceful area but the coquis and the dogs made a lot of noise in the night, earplugs were needed to sleep. The memory foam bed matress was good for the back, but synthetic bed materials made me sweat terribly. Very slow wi-fi.
The environment friendly choices are a big plus. And the views.. whoa! Simple but beautifully furnished big room. Friendly staff and "guard" dogs. Easier to reach location than you would think of a rainforest hotel. Excellent tropical drinks in the bar.
We had a dog barking waking us up a lot one night which after a day of travel was not great but it only happened once and seemed like an anamoly. The staff was apologetic and made it up to us.
This place is a gorgeous, eco-friendly, modern hotel abutting (or closer to in) the rain forest. It is a very special and beautiful place with a lot of fresh open air circulating through. There is a pool and trails to run on and a goreous view. One could sit and relax peacefully here for a couple days. Only a few rooms--it feels intimate. The place was run by the owners son who is very kind and laid back. This is not a conventional hotel so dont expect that experience but if you need anything, you will be taken care of. If you are travelling to Vieques or Culebra and need a place for a night or more in/ near Fajardo, this is great and special location.
