road to the place, distance from the city,no possibility to have decent breakfast or lunch , lack of warm water.
Road and breakfast. Too expensive for the offer...
Unfortunately there should be warning of dogs roaming freeling through the hotel.Even there dog bowls are by the continental breakfast area.Love animals as i own 2dogs but no not when im inside a hotel unless pets are welcomed.
The setting is wonderful, and so is the hotel architecture, ambience, and the owners.
The nature around is perfect for relaxing. The place is amazing The beds are cozy. For young couples this place is great.
The location was amazing and being in the rain forest is an experience you won't forget. The kind of people who stay at the hotel also are usually really interesting and friendly. They finally have their pool open and it looks nice.
This place was absolutely amazing in every way - what a neat experience! And don't worry about the bugs - the tree frogs eat them all! They owners were especially welcoming and friendly.
You definitely should think about renting a car if you are planning on staying here - it is quite the drive for a taxi. Also, make sure you refer to the location listed om the make of the booking.com website - it is very accurate. The address does not work like you think it will so you can forget about trying to plug that into google maps.
I love the quiteness of the place, with the accompainment of nature. The view from the mountain is perfect for watching the sunrise. The room is comfortable and spacious. I took the trail through the rainforest and it was beautiful. The service was good.
The Hotelito is in a beautiful location. The room was very nice, with stunning views out to the sea. It has a very personable staff, and the dinners were great. There were some nice places to walk around and some interesting birds, making it worth a short stay for birders. We also enjoyed the friendly dogs. We are very glad we stopped here for a brief stay. It is a great place to relax.
The drive up to the place was a bit nerve wracking, but I have been on much worse. It was a little difficult to find: Some better signage in a few spots would really help. Breakfast was definitely lacking.
This hotel is not for everyone. It has it's quirks, but it is beautiful. The owner has a great eye for designing both the interior spaces and in the landscape. It is not overly spiffy and not overly funky , but just right if you're an art lover and lover of a beautiful slower way.
What I really loved about this place was the amazing views and ambiance. You can sleep with all the windows open and enjoy nature's song.
It needed cleaning lots of spiderwebs, they have 3 dogs one of which had puppies, this could be a deal breaker for those who are not comfortable around pets. The drive up is treachous prepare for the rough terrain. The food was over price for the quality so you should come prepare with with food items or snacks as there are no place to nearby to get or order food. FYI I was drawn to pick this place because pics of pool and pool was not in service it was under repair.
Beautiful setting with spectacular views from on top of a mountain. Fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest and the cooling breezes. Open air lobby is comfortable and spacious. rooms are large. Beds are comfortable. A unique experience if you're on the more adventurous side. Not for the prim and proper fuss budgets.
You can't be too fussy about things here. It's an eco lodge that runs on wind and solar. So, the plugs are only in the lobby where you can charge your electronic and dry your hair. But the lobby is usually pretty quiet so not a problem. Hot water is a little funky but works on the second try if not the first. Read the directions in your room for that. They don't clean your room if you stay multiple days. The road in is partly unpaved and rutted so you need to move slowly. A bit tricky to find so don't plan to go there when it's dark the first time. But once you know how to go it's no problem. Out of the way place but peaceful and quiet with just the breezes and sounds of nature. It says there's a bar that's open at 5 but not really because it's not well stocked and bartender is not always there. Bring your own. Also, they make dinner sometimes but only if enough folks are there. But they will get you something from a local restaurant so you don't have to leave if you don't want to.
The Rainforest experience isolated from the City and in the mountains amidst the trees, flora and fauna were unforgettable. The views were great and the weather felt so much nicer up there than I expected. Rafael's staff was very helpful when we first arrived; they switched out a 2nd floor room for a ground floor one because I wasn't comfortable with the balcony (my kids are 6 and 19mo). Rafael was very quick in responding to a shower head issue and helped setup the baby crib. Breakfast was simple and healthy. The coqui noises at night were loud and we had a blast with fireflies in the room at night. I also liked the green concept of using solar power and reusing rainwater for the hotel. The entire experience was great and unforgettable.
Nothing. The last 1/4 mile drive was up a steep sloped dirt road where our minivan had traction issues partly due to worn tires; going slow on first is recommended. Yes, we had a bit of a scare off-roading but it comes with the territory of being in a isolated spot.
A beautiful spot with breath taking views. Gracious hosts, a father and son team. Close to nature, back to basics, ecologically friendly place. Exactly as described on their web page. It was a wonderful, relaxing 3 day stay. Would love to go back.
Only thing I can think of is that the road up the mountain to the hotel was in bad condition, but that was being worked on.
Amazing escape from the reality..great nature, friendly stuff, clean and comfortable rooms.you wont forget the sound of tropical rain forest.also the road there is a big experience!!from hot and crazy coast you run up the hill to find cold and silent place called El Hotelito.we hope we can return one day.
The breakfast was little bit poor
Spectacular location,views and natural beauty
The experience was wonderful! Keep in mind, it is an experience. You will not find any luxury here. The place was very clean and the beds were cozy. The owner's son was very personable and pleasant. The 3 dogs were very friendly.
We arrived after dark. The location was very hard to find. They need to do some work on the drive that leads to the hotel and add some solar lighting to their signs. It's a little run down but has great potential. The pool was not open. I found the owner to be rude and condescending. The food was boring.
I have travelled all over the world but this place tops it all! Wow! Amazing vibe and location. Imagine walking bare feet in this hotel who feels like home, falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest, hiking 3 miles of amazingness all around, being served delicious home cooked local food. Please stay there! You'll be glad you did.
It's hard to find but it's part if the adventure :)
A charming experience with an absolutely beautiful view. Hiking the trails was enjoyable as well. The owner and his father were great to talk to during the evening.
-Amazing landscape and breathtaking views .................................................. -Beautiful but simple rooms ..................................................................... -Some kind of adventure-feeling............................................... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When we came to Hotelito – and managed the road leading there – we were so glad that we went there. The building is beautiful, the view amazing and the whole surrounding lets you feel not only as if you reached the middle of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful rainforest, but also as if you had just stepped into your own personal adventure. We could choose our room, the owner explained the idea of the self-sustaining hostel as to water and electrical power and we were happy.
-Poor breakfast ................................................................................................. -No electrical power in the rooms ................................................................ -Horrible crisis management .............................................................................. -Lack of safety – missing or malfunctioning smoke detectors – and we could have needed them!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everything was well the first three days if you don’t take the breakfast and the missing electrical power in the rooms into consideration. The breakfast leaves you hungry 1.5 hours after eating it. As the owner was the fill-in for his son, who runs the hostel, there was no substitute for coffee available. Maybe this is better if the son makes the breakfast. ..................................................................................................................... Our last night at Hotelito changed everything. At about 10:30pm a fire broke out. The water heater next to the building burned down and the gas tank fueled the fire. Lots of smoke got in two of the rooms and could be smelled everywhere in the hostel. No stuff was there, the fire extinguisher was hidden beneath the stairs and it took us a while to find it. As no smoke detector raised an alarm, we were absolutely lucky that the fire broke out that early in the night – otherwise… .......................................................................................................................................................... We called the fire department and where absolutely glad when they finally made it to reach us in the middle of nowhere and secured the scene, also the fire had already be extinguished by a courageous guest.
Located at the top of a mountain, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the view spectacular. I also really appreciated the simple, modern design of the place. The layout of the public space also allowed us to interact with other guests, without having to make them the center of our vacation. If you are looking for a nice place that is a little more rustic than a traditional hotel, El Hotelito will be a good fit.
The drive up the hill took a little getting used to. Definitely would recommend arriving in the daylight the first time you come. And remember to ask about dinner for your first night. Bring some take out, if they aren't serving because you won't want to drive up and down the mountain in the dark.
lack of catering during the day
The hotel and the property was very beautiful and safe. The down stairs area was a nice area to relax and visit with other guests. We had several drinks at the bar and a fantastic home cooked dinner. We had a room up stairs and the breeze kept us comfortable all night. No noisy air conditioners or city noise. We would definitely stay again.
Amazing experience! It was super relaxing with great views/open air floor plan and rocking chairs, couches, etc., eco-friendly. The rooms were clean, comfy and we kept the windows open all day/night - there aren't mosquitoes to worry about! Raphael, the owner, is great. We got a home-cooked meal and chatted over food/drinks with other guests. Would highly recommend staying here if you want to relax and unwind!
The views, the scenery, the room, the dogs, the delicious dinner that was prepared for us. Everything was so romantic and beautiful. We wish we had booked more nights here!
