The small size of the place - very quaint. Pamela's Restaurant - expensive but excellent. View of the beach. Beach table service available. Breakfast included. Registration was initially confused and required a manager but they invited us for a complimentary drink while we waited for resolution. Little sand crabs and salamanders in the landscape. Location is within a 20-minute walk of the art museum. Free use and set up of umbrella and chairs by beach valet.
Pool was too small and dirty to use, which we might have. However, the beach at our doorstep beckoned, so no big matter. Not many attractions close by to walk to other than the museum. Requires a cab ride or bike to Old San Juan.
The beach was OK not great not very clean and nothing exceptional The wi fi was all right The bed was good Bathroom and towels were Good Overall value for the price paid was fair I guess
The breakfast was horrible Some of the fixtures in the hotel and room outdated The restaurant was unnecessarily expensive The constant wind on the beach The lack of cleanliness of the beach
location and people
Location was great. Beach front property.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at Numero 1 again. You can't beat the location, and staffers Jose and David were terrific. Whenever we needed anything, they were quick to help. The restaurant food was also good, which doesn't always happen; they made some great meals out of their fantastic shrimp!
Housekeeping did a good job once they showed up, but twice in 5 days they didn't come in a timely fashion. We had to call a few times to make our room up, both times after 2pm. Wasn't in love with their pina colada's, but that should be an easy fix.
Everything awesome place!!!
Location; right on the beach. Excellent value for San Juan. Can actually dine on the beach.
We had a room facing the back of property and another building. However being right on the beach makes up for many things.
Guest house right on the beach with no high rise hotels near by. Quiet and safe area of a night with cafes close by. Great staff, very helpful. Loved being asked to pick a spot on the beach and have David bring my lounge chair, table and an umbrella. Super service and only too happy to provide it.
Had to plug in for internet in my room.
This little hotel is a GEM. In the midst of all the huge hotels in the San Juan area, this hotel is small, quaint, very comfortable and private. Their area of beach is private, the neighborhood is well maintained and the locals are polite and offered directions, ideas on area restaurants and other helpful hints.
Numero Uno is not on the Caribbean, it is on the Atlantic Ocean side of P.R. We expected quiet, lulling waves, but were disappointed to have to work the waves. The rip tide was very strong, so BE CAREFUL! While it was very nice, it would've nice to know ahead of time. "Pamela's" restaurant, on site, is very good, but pricey. Average $105 for dinner for 2 with a beer and one cocktail. Otherwise, PERFECT.
The staff was very nice. At times hard to get someone at the front desk but overall. Great place to stay. The beach is fabolous and you really get to mix with locals since it's in a suburb.
The staff was awesome, friendly and helpful. The room was nice and the bed was super comfy. The location was perfect with nearby bars, restaurants and shopping! We were very pleased overall.
Imo i thought the value of the room was a little high for the finishes. I would have expected a more stylish bathroom-get rid of the plastic shower stall and put in a nice tile surround. Its much more durable and easier to clean....but maybe thats just my interior design degree talking lol. Also my partner was almost electrocuted by the toaster oven while browning a bagel. I'd suggest placing a rubber mat on the floor in front of it as a ground.
Loved the beach access, the comfortable bed and clean bathroom and bedroom! Having a restaurant on site was wonderful! The staff was exceptional and helped us arrange a taxi at 4:00 am; our every request was greeted with a smile and quick, capable problem-solving. We would certainly stay again if the opportunity presented itself.
It was all great!
Lovely staff. Beautiful setting on beach. Ocean breezes in room. Awesome restaurant served with feet literally in the sand. Comfortable beds. Clean. Charming.
Immediate neighborhood is gated and policed but beyond the perimeter.. its a little rough! Didn't feel safe to walk or jog but we weren't there long enough to know for sure.
Excellent position for a few days on the beach, off the tourist track, but you accept it for the location.
Only high end restaurant, had to go out and about for find different restaurant, could be a bit intimidating if you worry about it
breakfast on the beach ,umbrella's and seats even their wifi works on the beach it's cosy and small hotel but that makes it nice
I think we had the smallest room ,in the back with a lot of noise of all the airco's so we didn't get much sleep ... with an infant we hoped a little more space and a bathtub ?
Great small boutique hotel- beautiful beach-friendly staff. Walking distance to restaurants, stores. But best was no crowd-could sit on beach & no one beside you bothering you.
Pretty small rooms but then we just didn't stay in it much. Wifi was not good at all but that was ok for us.
We liked the beach
The room so so small there was not room to upack for a three night stay. Horrible value for $200.00 per night. Continental breakfast was terrible. A selection of rubbery pastries and a cold cereal selection of sugar pops, fruit loops, etc looked like it came from a dollar store. This from a place that is supposedly known for its restaurant. We did not try the restaurant after seeing the continental breakfast. I was wondering if Numero Uno gave booking .com customers the worst rooms.
Beach access, chairs/umbrella service.
Room was small and dark. Small but essential items were missing like a bath mat and hangers. We did not receive an orientation to the breakfast, room safe, where to find beach towels etc. when we arrived but located the info in a book in the common area of the hotel ourselves. The tv remote didn't work and we had to have the room safe fixed/reset after we arrived.
Location can't be beat - right on the beach! The neighborhood had several good dining options that were a short stroll away.
The room was a bit tight and would have liked the closet and some drawers that were not in the bathroom. Also, a bathroom fan would have been nice. These items did not affect our enjoyment, but thought I would just mention.
comfortable, on a great beach, nice staff, in a neighborhood, simple rooms, friendly atmosphere, beautiful location.
On weekends the beach got really crowded. It wasn't bad. It was like a big, festive party with loud music.
Excellent food and location and service.
Very noisy room with loud airconditioning unit outside and loud airconditioner in room. Bed was too firm for me.
Tiny room badly needing refurbishing Unusable, dirty swimming pool Poor breakfast buffet Unacceptable value for money Poor bar / restaurant service
It really is an excellent location. I liked being right on the beach. Happy helpful staff that were very accommodating when we got there early and needed a place to hang after we checked out.
Room a bit cramped although the bathroom was good sized. The room had a very strong smell of bleach. Also the bed was a bit too soft and what felt like polyester blend sheets.
Location was great! Beach was beautiful. The neighborhood was fun and nice to walk around. Didn't feel too touristy. Style of the hotel grounds, etc, was very nice.
Our room was TINY and very spare. Bathroom only had two almost empty bottles of shampoo which were not refilled (no lotion, etc). We paid a lot higher than the 'recommended' prices on the back of the door ($100 more per night than the 'peak rate'). I assume this was because it was the holidays, but I expected a lot more for ~$300/night. Breakfast was mediocre, being able to eat it on the beach redeemed it somewhat.
It was right on the beach.
To go anywhere, to do anything you had to take a cab (20$ each way). It was not safe to walk outside the house after dark. There was nothing to do around the area except beach. Considering it rained four out of four days that left little to do. I was given a subpar room for the price I paid. It was dark, claustrophobically small, and behind the laundry facility. After complaining that it was a dump, they moved me the next day to the penthouse. The PH was lovely exept the front door leaked when it rained, and one of the two toilets didn't flush. I mentioned both to the front desk, neither was fixed.
