convenient to everything in the city, right in a lovely plaza. staff was friendly and helpful. rooms clean and spacious. great value for the money. I will stay here every time I come to old San Juan.
the slow elevator
The staff was very nice & the location is wonderful.
Bathroom was a little dank (smelled like bad mop water), and there were dust bunnies on the ceiling. The reception is non -existent in the rooms for ATT.
the front office employees were very helpful in all questions asked
tv was hard to understand how to operate but staff was able to get iy to work but hard to find English speaking progrsmd
Noise: All rooms face an interior covered courtyard, so you hear staff working and talking within the entire building. A/C for courtyard is also loud.
Awesome view from the balcony. Super friendly service. Fully bilingual. I'm Puerto Rican and my boyfriend is Canadian. They were able to switch back and forth from Spanish and English with great ability. Very clean, charming rooms. Awesome lounge area.
No wifi signal in the room.
The staff is amazing, building is old but in a great location! Overall for the price range an excellent choice for anyone not interested in luxury but comfort and convenience. We joined a ship from San Juan and stayed for just one night at this hotel, saved us quite a bit..
perfect location, comfortable, friendly, 2 seconds from everything in the old city, great for culture
Location can't be beaten, in the middle of everything, walking distance to shops, bars, del morro, cruise liners, etc staff were great, handed out maps and made you feel welcome
internet wouldn't work apart from on ground floor,
The location is perfect if you want to explore Old San Juan.
The room is dark and no window, you have to walk on the stairs unless you want to use an old, small and slow elevator. The use of elevator is only good if you have luggages.
Located at a supreme location. Easily walk to any attractions in Old San Juan. Girl at reception was helpful and friendly.
The room we stayed was without a window.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Only one thin blanket on bed.
The friendly staff, especially Luis Gorzon was funny and very helpful. Air conditioner in the room was chilly but that was ok because it was really hot outside. Great location in downtown Old San Juan. I'm glad for the opportunity to experience the antique elevator.
It is not a fancy hotel but was a great old world experience.
Airconditioner leaked all over my luggage and didn't even get a discount of any sort plus they held me license and I didn't notice til I got to the airport unbelievable
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Because the safe in the room was not functioning, the front desk staff held an item for safekeeping. There was plenty of storage area in the room. The location was good. There was a supermarket, restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity.
The elevator was very small so didn't use it. The area above the door to the room was not secure. The safe was not functioning.
convenient location comfortable bed pleasant/helpful staff provided necessities affordable restaurant discount vouchers little fridge delayed check out available for fee
air conditioner very loud and no temp control couldn't adjust tv volume no microwave
It was in the heart of Old San Juan with easy walk to all things in the area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This is an old property, so do not expect modern finishes and amenities. We had a balcony room which we enjoyed, but it was noisy in the morning because of it being just off the square. The price was excellent for the Old San Juan area which made up for lack of the older building.
This was an old property, so the stairs were narrow and the elevator from the early 1900's. Because of it being just off the square, it started being noisy around 8:00 am with the construction they were doing in the street below.
Location was great, and room was fairly quiet despite proximity of all the action in the old city.
Room without window, and hyperactive air conditioning.
We stayed at the Hotel Plaza De Armas the night before our cruise (11-1-14). The hotel is nothing special, but it was clean and quiet and did the job for our short stay. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the port Carnival used. I joked that its an easy walk because its all downhill from the hotel to the port, the sidewalks are very smooth. Checkout was at noon, but they will allow you to store your luggage in the back lobby, which is unsecured. We felted very safe, the hotel is located adjacent to a Government building so there was plenty of armed authorities nearby. If we ever take another cruise out of San Juan again, we will be staying here again.
The pillows need improving!
The hotel was conveniently located in Old San Juan near many attractions. The staff was very helpful in recommending affordable restaurants to eat for dinner and breakfast and provided a secure area to store suitcases since I was departing on a cruise the day I checked out.
It's not so much that I didn't like this, but one needs to keep in mind that the single rooms are small and bare bones for comforts (minimal tv stations and just a bed in the room). I read reviews before booking this hotel, so I was expecting what the rooms were like. I wouldn't stay more than 1 or 2 nights, but for what I needed from the hotel (a bed to sleep on for a night), it was perfect!
The Location, Nice Bars & Restaurant around
Windowless rooms!!! Noise of the street Noise of the aircondition machine next door& in the room. No locked luggage room
Staff seemed nice accept they didn't want us sharing a bed
Not gay friendly, bed uncomfortable, noisy even on 4th fl, think it was staff late at night, room had toenail and nuts I think on floor, mirror in bathroom desperately needs replacing, facilities downstairs weren't work (coffee machine)
The hotel staff was very helpful and gave a directions to a nice restaurant. Really clean room, nice beds and bathroom
The air conditioner was really loud when it turned on, like super loud. It worked but we actually chose to be less cool so that we didn't have to sleep with that noise. Also, there were no windows.
Location in the heart of Old San Juan -- easy walk to El Morro and El Cristobal fortresses, museums, restaurants.
Room safe not working first day; no hot water for shower (at best lukewarm); supposedly-fit bottom sheet wouldn't stay put; staff pushed restaurants from which they got "kickbacks" over higher-rated and/or less expensive ones.
Staff, the suite, the location all wonderful
The elevator was a bit scary but its good to walk the stairs, its healthy.
