Aleli by the Sea Guest House

The staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The other guests were frequent flyers with multiple visits to Aleli by the Sea. Location, Location, Location. Waking up at 4:00 AM, I watched a cruise ship sail by from my bedroom window. Fantastic!

There were fire alarm detectors, but I did not notice a sprinkler system. Maybe I missed the sprinkler system???

Great seadeck. Clean and comfortable room. Very nice and helpful lady at the desk.

It was just perfect for one night after a week trip in Puerto Rico.

The owner is friendly and helpful. Good clean budget accommodation along the best part of the beach. Good range of restaurants, bars and other facilities nearby.

Th elderly female manager was excellent. She was a great source of information as well as various sundries left by other visitors.

The hotel was a bit hard to find.

We stayed 4 nights and had a wonderful time here. Manager was very kind and helped us with just about everything. Rooms were clean. Patio overlooking beach is awesome. This guesthouse is very safe and comfortable. If you are put off by big hotels and resorts, Aleli is the place for you! We stayed in room #4 which is the only room with direct patio access. It features 2 double beds, a fridge, microwave and TV. We recommend this guesthouse and would definitely stay here again!

Encountered some plumbing issues such as slow drainage in bathroom sink and each time the toilet was flushed, water sprayed up from the shower drain?

The location was ocean front kitchen upgraded

small parking area. no decks or private decks. vevery old, musty run down and ugly. Way too expensive small tiny old rooms

location adjacent beach and in upscale coastal locale

no air conditioning in communal areas of building. when flushing toilet in upstairs room, sewage spurted out of shower drain. bathroom sink would take a half hour to drain if you put water in sink. very small bathroom, barely big enough to accomodate fixtures.

We enjoyed the sea side room, the friendly and helpful staff, the location was great, it was reasonably priced. I loved the deck overlooking the ocean, and hearing the surf all night. There were lots of restaurants close by, it was easy to get to Old Town by cab or bus. It wasn't too far from the airport.

There was really nothing we didn't like, other people should realize it is not a 5 star hotel, but is was clean, beds were comfortable, the kitchen was available to us.

The woman at reception speaks English and was very helpful. I was in room 3. This place is a little battle-worn but how much are you paying here? The room was not the cleanest I have ever had but it was acceptable. The shared kitchen looks rather like the kitchen in a student house - or at least the fridge does, although nobody actually wrote a note saying 'these are my sausages!' It was stuffed and I only just managed to squeeze 5 beers in there - but nobody else drank them. But who would steal American beer anyway? Internet very good. The are felt quite safe unlike a place I stayed at during the early part of my stay in Puerto Rico. Location right on the seafront with a common courtyard overlooking the sea. This however proved to be a mixed blessing.....

.....Understand that this beach shelves fairly steeply so the waves don't 'swoosh' up the shore. They smash into the island as though they are trying to knock it over. The sea is loud. And it doesn't stop. To be fair, this isn't a dislike, just something you ought to be aware of. The sea makes noise. Live with it or go to a hotel further away. The parking arrangement could be a bit of a nuisance but I had no problem being first in and last out, however, having a hire car with a $500 excess, I would rather be responsible for any potential damage myself.

Bed was most comfortable. Staff was very friendly and offered lots of advice.

Bathroom (Room 8) was poorly constructed...required straddling shower floor to sit.

Front door lock did not work. Had to use key for parking lot and enter hotel from back side.

The guest house was quaint, right on the ocean. It was quiet and out of the main stream of Condado. Big highrises on both sides, which helped maintain the peacefulness. A little piece of heaven on the ocean.

No stairs to the ocean. They were right around the corner. Not really a big deal.

We spent one night here prior to a cruise. It turned out there was the ship leaving that weekend, and a large festival in Old San Juan, which had all the hotels booked up. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. She allowed me to use her computer to print out some reservations and gave us maps.

If you've ever watched a movie about someone travelling through the desert and they can only find one hotel in the small town, this is probably similar. The front door had a locked dead bolt. We rang the door bell and the owner let us in. The "lobby" was two chairs and a tv that the owners was watching. The front desk was a nook in the corner of the lobby. There was a small kitchen area and a deck overlooking the ocean. Try not to mind the homeless guy sleeping on the beach. We got our keys. (One for the room and one for the lock on the lobby door). The room was as basic as you can get. Queen size bed with a wicker dresser and chair. Very small flat panel TV and a noisey ceiling fan. Our balcony over looked the Alley and the parking lot for the Wendy's restraunt across the street. The bathroom wasn't too bad; walkin shower, toilet, and cheap simple vanity. All in all, the place reminded me more of a hostel than anything else. If I needed a place to stay and nothing else was available, I'd stay there again. But I'm sure there are better options.

All hotel prices in PR are too high

The Lady of the House was just wonderful, greeting us with a smile and friendly, helpful all the way. You are right on a beautiful beach in the middle of Condado with shopping, dining and nice parks around you. This is not luxury, but just a very good deal for your money.
