I was very disappointed by the lack of a mini fridge in the room. Contrary to the web advertisement, there was NO vending machine. Seriously, having to go to the supermarket to buy water or juice every morning and afternoon just to make sure I have something cold to drink was really annoying.
There were some greyish diamond-shaped insect ?eggs/nests/pupae? on the walls that I counted everyday to make sure none had 'migrated' into the bed or my luggage.
The translucent shower curtain was in desperate need of a cleaning and with the shower stall only two feet wide, it was a challenge of contortion trying to avoid having it touch me while showering. The drain was not in the lowest part of the stall either and I was always met with a pool of cold stale water from my previous shower.
No view from room as window faced a wall.
When the driver of the taxi I took from the airport did not know where the hotel was I began to worry and when we finally turned up, the exterior of the hotel didn't inspire much confidence but I was in for a pleasant surprise. The front desk is open 24hrs so even though I got there close to midnight, I rang the doorbell and Christopher the proprietor came and opened the door. He was very friendly and give me a small street map and directions to popular places nearby.
The hotel was quiet even though it is right on the edge of the street. It is located in a residential area so the prices of things in the stores nearby are not hiked up for tourists.
I liked the interior decor of the hotel. The intricate iron work on the walls and railings the variety of flora and fauna the numerous public lounge areas and medival suit of armour were all very interesting. Its beautiful rooftop terrace is great for an evening lime and dine. The fluffy, friendly cat that roams the hallways and is always purringly up for a good head or belly rubbing or a back scratching is quite a crowd-pleaser.
I loved that it was right next door to a 24hr supermarket as I had to be constantly buying cold drinks and water (since there was no fridge to keep anything cold or store ice). It is also within walking distance of the beach, various shops, pharmacies, hospitals, casinos and restaurants and about 10 minutes drive from the international airport.
I would stay there again unless I can find something for a similar price WITH A MINI FRIDGE in the room.
