We loved the perfect location and the eclectic ambiance of the hotel.

Tubs on the roof took too long to fill to be useful. My wife thought the bathroom was too small. Lack of elevator turned out to be not a big deal. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
Can't imagine a better location. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and comfortable. Great air conditioning. Shutters kept room dark when we wanted it, and let in natural light when we were ready. Rooftop space was very nice (my daughter called it a paradise) and the tubs are a great idea. Loved the "Casa Blanca" theme. Artsy feel to the whole place.

The restaurant is supposed to open at 7am, but most days it was really around 7:30am. Our room had a fair amount of street light coming in at night. No in-room coffee, and no one told us there was a couple of air-pots set up in the bar area for early risers.
Location and staff were great. Cool "boutique" hotel with it's own bar/restaurant. The staff helped us with recommendations and directions. Loved our little balcony! Great/free WIFI. Was generally pretty quiet. Well worth the price since it's accessible to all of old San Juan, and just a couple blocks away from the pier/bay where cruise ships dock. Many great restaurants within a block or two, near free shuttle pick up point.

No breakfeast included.
Perfect location and very Friendly staff ! Very good location and wi-fi speed connection.

Only drawback were the 5 flights of stairs.
Decor and location were wonderful.

Grumpy receptionist in the morning. Breakfast was awful - I cannot stress this more - venture out for breakfast.
Location, location, location. Great welcome from Juan! Nice decor. Comfortable rooms. Clean. Good tv options.
April 12, 2015
The rooms were small, even after we paid extra to be in a bigger room with more light (that said, its a very old building and rooms were smaller back then) We also wish the bar was open all week long, as opposed to just Thurs-Sun- when we were not there.
The location, rooftop tubs, high ceilings and lobby

Excellent location, comfortable room, very reasonable price.

I'm 65 and our room was on the third floor, although I had requested first floor. Very difficult! Restaurant was understaffed and disorganized. Everything in OSJ is triple the price. A Bloody Mary = $12.50 !
The best thing was seeing the Fort. The hotel was nice, staff friendly, and close to everything.

extremely helpful and friendly staff-very informal feel but great service

No elevator and had a room on the top floor
Location and the decor

It's a great small hotel in the heart of old San Juan. It's has its charm and style. If you like interesting unique hotels stay here, if you like polished standardized hotel chains don't go here, will be disappointed. This hotel has a vintage in everything, I found it awesome, but some people might complaint that it old and maybe dirty... No elevator: yes, but there is helper to bring your suitcase, so no problem at all.

Lack of elevator was a hardship for elderly guests. Mold was nprevalent on mini-deck of 4th floor room.
Great location,friendly and helpful staff.

Three flights of stairs got tedious.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby was great. The movie Casablanca was projected on the wall.

Bedroom without a window
March 24, 2015
The stairs. The tv did not work. One of the mattresses needs replaced or flipped.
We were unfortunate enough to have a 4th floor room, and since there are only stairs it was quite the task, especially for our traveler that is recovering from surgery. But the accommodations were nice and the locations was pretty great. The room was very cool. The tv did not work, but that wasn't a big deal to us.

The only window fronts in the lobby.
Good location. Fabulous room. Fancy lobby.

Quite a climb up the stairs to our 5th floor rooms. No elevator , but I'm told one will be installed later this year.
In the heart of Old San Juan

Though we expected a traditional two bedroom suite, what we got was a small main room with one separate bedroom and an extremely tiny bathroom that connected the two rooms. The shower has seen better days. The balcony was actually just a public external outdoor access - not what you expect when you are told the room has a balcony. We didn't know we would be on the 5th floor of a hotel with no elevator. It was 90 steps to our room - not very enticing to go out often. The sleeping arrangements in the so-called 2nd bedroom were a daybed with a pull-out trundle bed. This should have been advertised as a one-bedroom suite which sleeps 4, that has outdoor space.
This hotel has character and charm. The location is central in Old San Juan, steps away from the forts, dining, shopping and taxis. We had what was called a "two-bedroom suite with balcony." The bed in the actual separate bedroom was very comfortable and the room was large. The wifi worked perfectly in our room, which was on the 5th floor. We only stayed one night so really didn't have much of a chance to try out the rooftop bathtubs but two of our party of four did go up there to see them. Unfortunately a thunderstorm started so they came back Indoors.

the lack of elevator is a big issue, particularly because the only access to rooms or the roof top terrace is via the stone staircase with uneven steps. The latter also leads to making the hotel very noisy inside (beware late sleepers, you will not be able to do that there). I would also suggest the hotel invest in coffee machines for each room.
the staff is amazing, very friendly, always ready to help with anything, ... and a very special thanks to Miguel and Juan. The hotel is nicely decorated and the suite we had was comfortable. The location is also close to perfect for visiting Old San Juan or even access excursions (most of which departing from the Sheraton hotel).
March 12, 2015
Not much not to like; lack of a window in the room lets you sleep in easier, no elevator (but try to find one in a building this old).
We'll decorated, staff have great restaurant suggestions and are helpful directing to neat spots
March 11, 2015
Our only minor complaint is that we weren't aware there wasn't an elevator and staying on the 5th floor was a hike after a long day of travel. However, easy access to the rooftop made it worth the walk!
The staff was very friendly and had wonderful suggestions on restaurants and sights to see. CasaBlanca was a wonderful start to our vacation and we look forward to coming back next year!
March 10, 2015
I didn't like that there was no elevator, and we had a room all the way on the too floor .
Staff was friendly and location was perfect for shops , bars and eating , as well as sightseeing..

Breakfast in hotel restaurant was subpar., even with the 20% discount. Coffee tasted like instant, "cream" was dispensed by the server and tasted like heated skim milk. Many of the choices were unavailable, and the dish I selected that promised to be served on a bed of spinach rested on exactly 4 little leaves. I asked for toast instead of bagel, but got bagel. My advice - don't eat here even though it is convenient. Polyester sheets in a humid climate were slick & sweat inducing.
Location was great for walking tour of Old San Juan. Ambience was interesting and staff (except for restaurant server) were very friendly and helpful.
