The luxurious and charming Wine House Hotel in Lamego, in the heart of the Douro region, is on extensive private grounds with vineyards. Free Wi-Fi is available.

Overlooking the Douro River, this Portuguese house offers free Wi-Fi and air conditioned rooms. It has an outdoor pool with a furnished terrace. There is also a living room with a bar and fireplace.
Score from 287 reviews Wonderful
With spectacular views of the Douro River, this 4-star hotel offers indoor and outdoor pools along with a thermal spa. It is surrounded by acres of vineyards and protected forests.
Score from 232 reviews Very good
You arrive and there's no reception. Nobody take care with your lugage. Swiming pool was dirty and cold water. Sauna and turco were not in good conditions. Lack of signs inside the hotel. 5 stars are not adequate!!
relaxing atmosphere, room view to the mountains, gourmet restaurant
the place is hard to reach
A great place to relax overlooking one of the prettiest valleys I have been to. Great for exploring. Went walking and sampled various varieties of port along the way. Some lovely villages nearby with great restaurants that serve local produce and are very reasonably priced. Hotel is well placed for a relaxing or energetic stay. It's up to you really. Good breakfast at the hotel and leisure/spa facilities. I'll be back!
Can't say I disliked anything!
Location, good views of surrounding hills. Clean and comfortable room.
The hotel lacks soul. Very clean and clinical, needs some comforts eg dim lighting, decoration.
The location and the simpathy of the hotel's staff. The hotel's Restaurant is very good however alitle but overpriced for the service provided.
The double bed mattress was the somof 2 twin mattresses (and we paid more to have a double room vs. a twin room. We did not have the mini-bar availble upon arrival and we were not informed of such situation (we had to request it)
I am a little old fashion and do like a separate bathroom, otherwise very good.
Location. Good combination of old and new
Reception staff fairly clueless.
Nice old modernized building, nice views but not really Douro views, a bit far away from everything.
Spa and breakfast areas get crowded very fast. Whirlpool so full of chlore that it was unsustainable! Limited English both at reception and restaurant which got mixed up several times with our order!
- location and view - nice breakfast
- especially the bathroom floor was not very clean
Room's View Staff very Friendly
Turkish Bath and Sauna doesn't work properly. Shower location on the bedroom, very confusing organisation of spaces.
Views and location is stunning. Rooms are large and comfortable. Outdoor pool and sun lounge area enjoyable. Restaurant food (ala carte) was tasty and cheap for the loaction - but didn't quite match the general level of the sourroundings. Most restaurant staff pro - but quite a few didn't speak a single word english.
Most rude and indifferent check-in staff we met in Portugal. Waited 1.5 hours before we could check in. Since we arrived an hour before check-in we wasted 2.5 hours. No explanation given - no apologies. In-room bath tub makes absolutely no sense. Sliding door to toilet doesn't really fulfill it's mission as a door.
The view and the indoor swimming pool.
Only limited staff in the reception could speak English. Some looked very young. I guess they took on quite a number of trainee.
spectacular views, quiet environment, design of rooms, ambiance of Hotel in general
detailed maintenance, some staff are somewhat inexperienced, no hanging devices for cloths, towels etc.
Wine at arrival, beautiful view, really nice rooms, delicious food at the restaurant and we managed to get a really good deal by booking last minute.
the location is superb
I've been in 4* hotels that are better conserved and clean. This hotel deserves the 5th star for the location
the food in the Restaurant is really bad. also the wine had cork and not ok. half hour waiting for a cappuccino. also the building is inconvenient.
Staff very rude not friendly at all hotel operating with untrained students food dreadful couldn't eat it and staff member agreed but had to pay for it so checked out early not a nice experience wouldn't return I'm sure there is better in the area if you are fancying a vineyard then I would look for a professional one
The location is superb, just take the standard room, they have the best view. You wake up and see the mountain!
The restaurant was not so good, to pricey for wat you get, better go to monsao frio, to a tasca di zeqhuina, very good local food for a really decent price
Facilities were excellent and the food was great!
Wonderful amenities and very nice rooms
Getting around with English only is sometimes difficult
stunning view, great restaurant, very quiet
The house is very beautiful, fantastic environment, amazing people, very good dinner and a very nice breakfast.
The bed is very soft, there's no towels available in the piscine, there's no slippers available in the bedroom and also there's not enough people to assist visitors in the hotel bar.
Five star hotel at reasonable price. Laid back design but at the same time luxurious. Stunning view of the valley. Had a lovely stay.
The pool could have been a little bit warmer.
The helpful and friendly staff. Nice room. Breakfast was good.
The set menu was limited to two choices, none of which I wanted, so ordered off a la carte.Had to send it back as part of the meat was cold but the rest warm. This was rectified with apologies and a complimentary glass of port! It was cold in the bar and the library.
I liked the location, although it was not that easy to find in the dark. View is 5 star for sure! Beautiful place. Swimming pool is nice and also has a nice view. Food was very good and for a very reasonable price. Restaurant staff - very helpful and patient.
No information in the room in English, no required things for 5 star, like a sewing kit, slippers, no wine glasses or wine opener, fridge looked very sad and old, hairdryer was old too and wind would dry my hair faster than that thing. Shower doors could hardly open, had to struggle, TV far away by the ceiling and you cannot adjust, few channels and quite a few in german. If you want tooth paste or cigarets have to go far away to town. Sauna - not hot and hardly working, steam room - manual.. Opening times for swimming pool is from 9 only, i like to have a swim before breakfast. Could open from 7 or 8am at least. Porter or help with luggage - non existent and our room was very far away. Lost the key for us to go the short way to the restaurant or swimming pool. Had to ask many times to try and open the door, they could not find the key, but did not bother to inform about it either, so we have to keep asking..ok, so they lost the key, should they not think about the convenience of their other customers and have these doors open..?! its a surprise that someone would not want to walk in circles through long corridors with a robe to have a swim? We got the room very cheaply form booking, so maybe our room was one of the lower standard. Staff is nice and polite, but management needs to be a bit more detailed orientated and get updated on what 5 star hotel has to have and service looks like. I would give 4 starts right now at most, especially for facilities.
