It is a charming small town with a promenade along the lagoon and a boardwalk and a number of good restaurants. Evening walks along the boardwalk were always interesting with the fishing boats in the small harbour and there were a number of bars with views over the lagoon , perfect fo sun-downers.

Escaping dark November in the UK is always a treat.
Escaping dark November in the UK is always a treat. Cabanas was the perfect place to enjoy a gentle couple of weeks in lovely sunshine. Either strolling along the boardwalk to one of the local cafes for a coffee and Pastel de nata or walking over the Ria Formosa to Tavira past the salt flats you will have a wonderful time.
A lot of the restaurants are closed as the season has ended but O Coral was open and offers delicious food for lunch and dinner - highly recommended.

I like the ambience, the serenity the rooms were very decent and the staff were helpful. Food and drinks were great. Although I would recommend more intercontinental dishes. It was a lovely experience I would surely like to visit again.

Lots of restaurants but limited choice on Mondays.
Lots of restaurants but limited choice on Mondays. Not much beach but you can take a ferry to the nearby island for a beach. Best to use Uber taxis if you need public transport. 6/7 euros to Tavira. Lovely walk along the boardwalk. Spar supermarkets. Use the cash machine near the west Spar as it is Multibanco so no withdrawal fee 😀

Cabanas is a lovely place to visit, away from the high rise and bustle of other resorts. The pace of life in Cabanas is much slower. Plenty of bars , restaurants and places to sit and people watch. You feel very safe in Cabanas. The train station is about 25 mins walk away if you want a trip into Tavira or Faro itself. Bike hire is also available. There is an estuary between the boardwalk and the beach , boats are available all day to ferry you back and forward at a minimum cost 1.50 euro. Great restaurants, our favourite was Gio and Gabi, fantastic friendly staff and great food at reasonable prices.

We had stayed in a host of larger hotels across the Algarve, and chose Casa Viana, because we knew that it would be completely different, small, homey, sincere, with extremely warm owner and her brother. A real Portuguese Guesthouse. Each morning lovely breakfasts were offered. In the last century, the current owner's grandfather had used it as a factory for processing Octopuses. Boats to the island are just outside the door, and there are countless restaurants and bars just down the street.
The property was conveniently located right near the train station, but not in a way that makes it loud. The rooftop balcony had perfect views of the sunrise and sunset, and a view of the ocean the distance. The pool is open all year round. The walk to the beach (plus a quick, 200 meter boat ride) is 20-25 minutes away. There are grocery stores and other necessities nearby. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and other necessary items for cooking.
Milton, the manager, was excellent. He gave us a tour with adequate instructions. The apartment was spacious enough for 3 of us. It was clean, quiet, and well appointed. The pool is large and inviting. The location is walking distance to the waterfront. To get to an actual beach requires taking a watertaxi across the canal which costs 3€ round trip per person, and they only take cash. The area is laid back, quiet, and not too peopley.
Small basic apartment, no wifi.
The apartment is quite small, but liveable. There is no wifi. You have access to all the facilities at the main hotel, so a very nice plus. Good for a couple of days, but room is cramped for a week long stay. Great location. Main hotel has all the facilities, buffet breakfast and meals can be bought every day. Great restaurants very close.
Fantastic hotel. Absolutely beautiful, so relaxing and comfortable. I loved the architecture / decoration.
Homemade breakfast was huge and delicious! Aside from the eggs you don't really get to choose, they just bring everything they have for the day on the table!
Dinner was also tasty and very generous.
A very homely (but elevated) stay.
Wifi was very good.
This is a very well appointed apartment with most things a traveler is likely to need. There is just a sea view between two other blocks of apartments and what should have been a very comfortable balcony. It is a little off the beaten track but I've stayed at other hotels in the area so knew this in advance. I was hoping for some peace and quiet. But...
We met Joaw in the reception desk and He had our keys and our Golden Bracelets ready and waiting for us. He was extremely helpful and explained how everything worked with the hotel facilities, the swimming pools and sports and kids club for our children.
Location good only 10minute walk to beach , near a train station for sight seeing , lots of restaurants to choose from in the area of cabanas, apartment has everything you need for a relaxing holiday
Good location, low prices, near the perfect beaches, free parking, free spa and swimming pool and kids club.
Good place for walking and running. Big rooms include kitchen with necessary utensils.
Great location, nice perk with the train and boat service to the beach. Liked that bar, restaurant, supermarket, pool etc were right there. Full kitchen was great too.
Loved all the wildlife on the doorstep and proximity to beach and restaurants. We are a family of six with four young children and it was a lovely relaxing break
