This budget hotel in Lisbon is located next to Martin Moniz Square and 110 yards from Rossio Metro Station. It has a 24-hour front desk and ticket service to Lisbon attractions.
Score from 564 reviews Good
Housed in a heritage-listed baroque building with Rossio Metro Station on its doorstep, this entirely non-smoking guesthouse offers well-priced accommodations in Lisbon's historic Baixa Pombalina.
Score from 587 reviews Excellent
just the location, very near to the shopping malls and tourist spots.
i don't like the room, the elevator needs to be changed.
The position and the rate.
Too noisy and bad accommodation. It should be renovated.
The hotel's location is excellent and at that price makes it a very attractive choice. It is a no frills hotel and room are simple and fit for purpose. The staff was friendly and always approachable.
The interior of the bar/breakfast room. The sofas are good for having a relaxed read etc. But a bit inconvenient for having breakfast.
Location and Staff were perfect
Location is excellent, it is only a few blocks from the train station and only a few blocks to the airport bus. Security was good and movement was controlled by the front desk. But we were free to go and come at will.
Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Our room needed a general updating. Carpet is worn. But it is still a good buy for the money.
The location was perfect and the staff was professional and friendly
We didn't have Internet in our room.
The staff is delightful- plenty of comfort and cleanliness. Service was fine.
We haven't been here for a number of years. We are no longer used to such small spaces-We are older, the hotel is older. 60 may be the new 50- but not for this hotel It is showing its age.
Good price for the room, good situation (near railways, metro, tram), people of the hostel super nice, in the center of the city. You could let your bags in the morning while you visit the city, in the first day.
Could be A little beat noisy (because of building workers in the street, night life on weekend) but we prefer open the windows instead of having air conditioner on, morning meal too basic.
Little old style, but very clean.
temporary construction site near to the hotel
Situated int centre near the street with lift Sena Justa, Rossio placa and river Teju!!! Very cute and nice place! Very clean, calm, polite English-speaking personal and lift with little secret =) Recommend to everybody and will reserve it on the next year!
Our windows saw in the little space near fishrestoran and sometimes in the evenings there was fishing smell =) but for us it was not problem! ;-)
Open 24 hours. Excellent location. Helpful staff.
The rooms are a bit small.
Location, stylish interior.
You will not eat this breakfast more then 2-3 days in a row - its just bred and drink. and not really tasteful bread.
Central location, quiet, comfortable bed, all very clean. Wifi access in stated areas worked well
the breakfast was a little modest and the tea was very weak! But coffee drinkers may have fared better
Location is excellent. You literally walk outside the door and you are in the heart of Lisbon. The hotel is great value for money. The room is fine and comfortable and has air conditioning which was essential after walking around Lisbon in the blistering heat!
One member of staff got quite annoyed with us when we didn't want to leave our key at the reception. Usually we wouldn't mind leaving a key at reception but on the first evening, we were just asked for our room number when we returned to collect our key. A member of staff we had not seen before just handed us the key without asking for our names or anything. We felt that it was a little bit too relaxed so we were just going to take the key with us the next night. When we were walking down the stairs, the member of staff shouted after us until we left the key and got annoyed when we tried to explain why we wanted to take it with us.
perfect location,good for 1-3 nights,helpfull friendly staff
breakfast.close to hotel there is building process
The location was excellent--just blocks from some of the key locations in Lisbon (such as Rossio square, the Santa Justa elevator, etc.), and in the heart of the Baixa, the beautiful old neighborhood situated between the Alfama and the Bairro Alto/Alfama, and thus ideally positioned for visiting both. The hotel itself is very fun, if you don't mind some of its rather quirky details, like the fact that you need to enter the hotel door and go up to the 2nd floor before you reach the reception. We found the breakfast room a lot of fun, very atmospheric with green walls & plush sofas (though the breakfast itself may be a bit disappointing if you're used to more plentiful fare, i.e. it's just rolls and tea/coffee.) In the evening, it's a pleasant place to hang out in and watch TV, check one's email, and/or try a glass of port or ginja (Portuguese sweet cherry liqueur); you can also get these, along with water, soda, beer, wine, etc., during the day. The room was a bit small but that's what we'd expected with a budget hotel; it was very clean, and we were very pleasantly surprised that it had a bathtub, which is not always the case in Europe! Plus, since the hotel is on an entirely pedestrianized side street, it was blissfully quiet & undisturbed. All in all, though, a nice, offbeat place to stay!
Beds are very hard--I know this is supposed to be good for one's back, but it took a bit of getting used to! Plus, being on a pedestrianized side street, while it helped ensure peaceful nights, wasn't always the most convenient thing when it came to arriving at & departing from the hotel with our heavy bags--on both occasions, we had to walk a couple of blocks with them. Also, befitting a budget hotel, not all of the rooms have Wifi--to check your email, you may need to go hang out in the breakfast room, which is the only place in the hotel guaranteed to have Wifi (however, it's a very pleasant room, as mentioned before).
My 3rd time in Insulana and there will be a fourth soon! Ideal accomodation for budget travellers and for those who prefer to spend their money in grilled sardinhas or peixe espada preto! Old fashioned, a bit rundown, but definitely worth it for what it costs.
As usual, poor, plain and boring breakfast - always bread and butter + coffee, tea or orange squash. Currently there are restoration works in 2 buildings opposite the hotel windows and gets noisy at siesta time.
Location, services and the hotel staff was very helpful.
Cheap, in a good location.
Old and worn
The bathroom and bed were clean, and the air conditioning worked well.
The carpet in the room and public areas is dirty and shabby. Breakfast is nothing but bread and coffee. The furniture in the breakfast room is broken down and uncomfortable. Our room was tiny. The whole place is dingy and shabby. We expected it to be simple and basic, but this place was grubby and we would not stay there again.
Very centrally located. The man behind the counter was not rude once you smiled at him.
Not clean, bad service, way overpriced, no food, rude staff, awful atmosphere, made you give the key when you left-- I did not feel comfortable leaving my belongings there.
The location is great. It is really the heart of Lisbon and quite convenient to go anywhere.
Small room and very small bath room. The location is good but very touristic. You cannnot feel the real life of local people around the hotel.
Everything so old, squeaky and many things not working.
