Just a beautiful building, great location and fantastic staff.

It is a shame when such a beautiful piece of history is not given its proper care.Many items need fixing. Have mercy and water the plants...

Wow! This place has character and more character. We loved our super large room with windows overlooking the square. The location is excellent.

The bathroom is ageing a bit and needs some TLC refreshing but it was very functional.

Nice location, pretty building, huge room.

A little run down. Unenergetic cleaning. We had hoped for better.

Great location. Not your regular hotel, but the place has an old timey feel that is quite quaint.We had a smallish room and only stayed one night so can't really judge the whole Hotel .The staff were nice and the breakfast decent. Evora is a lovely town.

I'm surprised at the rating of 7.6 for this top hotel. It's located in a fine old building, rooms are large and well lit, furnishings are tasteful and of a style fit for this manorhouse. Of the about 25 hotels visited one my recent trip I would rate the Solar de Monfalimk among the top three. It gets an all round 10 from me.

Nothing. Oh, I suppose the coffee served at breakfast could have been hotter.

This was a good hotel with lot's of history. The hotel is old, but not in a bad way, but like well worn shoes. Comfortable, central, and inexpensive. The staff was friendly and the internet which was only suppose to work in public area's actually worked in room # 4. So nice surprise. Parking on the street after 7pm in front of the hotel is free.

If you are older, have a mobility issue, then the steps can be a killer. Straight up! Breakfast typical and strong coffee.

The general air of the place - although an old building (which great architectural features) it is clearly being looked after as best the owners can within a limited budget. This is after all a two star not a five star hotel.... The staff were kind and I was made welcome!

Room do not have WiFi access, WiFi access only at lobby/restaurant.

Charming old building, a lot of history. Location close to the Praza central.

Leak in the bath room, no hot water in the morning. Main impression: saving energy is the thing!

The history and the hospitality.

Location, size of room.

I don't mind the room being old and dated, but I do mind dirty and worn. The chairs in the room were stained and dirty. There is no way anyone would want to sit on them. The shower curtain was white at the top, but became progressively more yellow by the bottom. Simple things like a new shower curtain and replacing or recovering those dirty chairs would make this a wonderful lodging. One other thing: The hallway was so dark I couldn't find the keyhole.

Excellent location - tricky to get there by car, because of the very narrow streets, but sufficient metered parking availably. Easy to walk to most attractions. Breakfast was excellent.

Easy location

No water pressure, ceiling fan was broken, air conditioner was broken, safe did not work.

The hotel is located in a lovely 18th century (?) building, and the architecture has been respected.

There was no elevator and quite a few steps to carry the bags up, but we were forewarned.

Albergaria de Monfalim is a charming hotel situated in a quiet square very close to the appealing centre of Evora.

I enjoyed every aspect of my stay.

The location is perfect for visiting a UNESCO world heritage city, which is really fabulous. The bufet breakfast was good enough. The common areas of the hotel suggest the feeling of being in an old portugal residence.

The feeling of staying in an old portugal residence was partly destroyed by the furniture of the rooms (we were 4 people in two rooms),since modern and unappropriate furniture was mixed in. Maybe, we were given these rooms because they were reserved at a reduced price. Parking is complicated, as between 8:30 and 19:30 you have to pay or park your car outside the city walls some 7-800 m away.

I liked that it was a very old-fashioned hotel which had been kept in v good condition. The building was fascinating. Too often these days if one stays in such a historic building one has to choose between a modernised version or somewhere which has been allowed to become run-down. This hotel was the best of both worlds - characterful and original, but clean and comfortable.

Situation. Staff did their best in spite of no management.

General dilapidation and neglect. No view as window covered by fig tree. Dead plants everywhere, drips from ceilings. Very uncomfortable beds and foam chip pillows. Tiny room and bathroom, with shower where bath was promised. Second room had view of dead plant and pigeon. Horrible breakfast (cold coffee, orange squash instead of juice), awful croissants. Total contrast to what was expected from website and the brochure we picked up at the hotel. Very sad as this could be a beautiful building.

Location

Oldie worlde is one thing but this place is just plain old.

Excellent location, very calm. Fine service. Room was very spacy, nice and "different" (after room door, there were 10 steps..then our own hall, big bathroom and narrow bedroom. Evora skvělé místo, tiché, nádherné, obsluha milá, pokoj výborný, prostorný. nemá wifi na pokojích a počítače tak staré, že fungují jen na net (ale už ty jsou bonus).

Our room wasn´t ready in time. There is no wifi and hotels computers with internet is really old and can be use only for internet (i want to download photos, but on usb 1.0..).

Service was very friendly. Room clean and tidy, as well as the bathroom. Breakfast was appropriate. The place is really pretty, and those granite steps and vegetation before getting to the reception are quite refreshing. Although there was no wifi on in the room, we could still get in the common/public zones, which was just fine.

We ran out toilet papper on the very last day (which could have been avoided), but not even a big inconvenient. Having to go through a couple of flights of stairs with luggage to get to the room was not super fun, but, again, nothing that would spoil the overall experience. Parking next to the hotel is payed. After checking in I chose to leave my car outside the city walls. I certainly don't mind the walk, and would suggest anyone driving to consider this option.
