Great location and staff but hot water not always hot
Superb location in the heart of this world heritage city, genuine hospitality and character. We loved the charm of the unexpected and the quirky historic artefacts. Even the erratic chiming of ancient clock towers nearby simply added to the atmosphere.
Nothing we didn't like.
Very clean place and friendly staff
A little bit small room
The location is perfect, right in heart of the town. Clean, decorated with taste, friendly staff.
Noisy as next door was "Club of capoeira" so it's non stop loud music and plus noise from the streets as the hotel is old-fashioned and hasn't double glasses.
Very friendly staff, comfortable room in a historic building, nice breakfast, everything you want to See and visit in walking distance from the hotel and at the same time it is on a quiet road. But what really made the difference: the wonderful receptionists who were radiating a natural joy and friendliness which is not always common in a hotel.
Rooms very clean. Staff friendly and very helpful. Location and value for money.
House was a bit of a labyrinth and several flights of stairs which for older guests might be a problem. To be fair, the owners have anticipated this and with prior knowledge will try to accommodate you. Parking is outside the hotel but a meter has to be fed which is a bit of a pain but the parking all within the old town of Evora is like that.
Location. Didn't have breakfast there so can't judge that. Staff was friendly, helpful. Parking was good. Had wine outside on the patio and that was nice. Would recommend to others. Little hard to find but just use a gps
Unable to find hotel without assistance from complete stranger. Good beds. Staff very helpful.
Room was spartan. Tiny TV. Small mat on tiled floor. Only one chair. Lighting in bathroom pathetic. Parking very difficult. TV lounge well out of date and needs new (comfortable) furniture. Lighting is generally poor throughout the building. Lots of steps up to Reception area.
Wonderful old palace, clean, comfortable, friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Quaint features gave a nice atmosphere. Nice lounge and bar arealocated close to all the attractions of Evora. Ask at desk for map and direction to old town as signs for walkers is sadly lacking.
No lifts so entrance stairs a trial at each exit/enterance.
Carmen the receptionist
Small room. Tiny bathroom. Lack of storage space. Bath soap impossible to produce a lather. No parking available, have to park outside the city and walk many blocks to hotel. Bed covers too warm for environment.
Location is wonderful, nice ambience, friendly staff
Nice historical building, good location.
a bit "worn out", wich could be improved with a small effort ...
The location, the terrace, the service, the price
Room smelled funny, shower was funky, parking is difficult
Perfect location; extremely stylish interior; clean.
No parking place; breakfast should contain some warm dish; Internet connectivity rather poor (broken); no fridge in the room.
- Best location, in the middle of all the main points of interests. Parking (paid) in the nearby streets. - Typical Alentejo building, with charm, redecorated. Room simple but okay for a few day stay (even if a few small things could be better). - Excellent complete breakfast with home made marmelade and honey. - Nice and friendly staff.
a few things not working in the room. No telephone in the room, even to ring reception.
We were out for 3 weeks and it had the best mattress of the trip--important to me. Excellent breakfast, very helpful staff, clean.
Nothing I didn't like.
It had charm, a wonderful and friendly staff, great location.
Super nice staff go out of way to be helpful. Room is large and very clean Excellent breakfast. Lovely eating outside on patio Central to town and shopping
Bed a little hard. Bathroom a bit crowded Excellent value for stay
The hotel architecture and room spirit The location The staff very helpful and nice The good wine for the aperitive on the nice terrasse The rooms very original by the historical part of the hotel
The breakfast not attractive and too continental and not interesting.
Fantastic old fashioned portuguese atmosphere, beautifull old building, very friendly staff
Pleasant staff, helpful, nice pousada type lodging was great to stay in including location within the walked town area! Highly recommend gmfirvyhe character of place over generic hotels . Bkfast was ok, not hot entrees more continental type. Staff was very nice, helpful!
Awesome historical stylish hotel! Very helpful staff, the best in Evora. Normal breakfast: yogurt, fresh bread, biscuits, cheese, meats, pastries, awesome coffee, fruits and fresh orange juice (wow!!! Thank you very much.) The location is very good near the main square. And it was really cool to see the Cathedral from the window! so if I'll return in Evora I'll stay in Hotel Solar de Monfalim. P.S. It's not 2 stars hotel (for European hotels), really 3 or 4 stars of course. In Evora I advise only this hotel.
not modern sanitary engineering, but works well.
Perfect location. Beautiful building. Good breakfast. Cozy room with high ceiling.
Nothing for me, but don't expect the soundproof.
Stay was wonderful...great staff and location. This is not a full service business class hotel, it is a charming old place with character. We enjoyed our stay very much.
a little hard to find but we got lucky.Staff upon checknin could not speak English but spoke all of the other Latin languages so we made out okay in Spanish.A little pricey compared to other places we have been staying around Portugal. The hotel itself is a gem..oldest in monfalim and the building itself is 500 years old.all in all a nice place to stay.but a bit overpriced
