Albergaria Do Calvário  

This is a fantastic hotel and I would highly recommend it. The staff are excellent, very attentive and welcoming. The breakfast and other food that they offer throughout the day is fabulous. We stayed for nine nights and had booked a double room but when we got there, they had upgraded us to a suite at no extra charge! The atmosphere is the hotel is beautiful, its like a home from home. This hotel made the trip for us!

Excellent service. Staff were very helpful,.Gave really useful information about the town and in particular very knowledgeable about local restaurants. We ate out very well and great value. Outstanding quality breakfast, with well sourced organic produce. Very comfortable rooms, bed perfect! We would recommend this hotel.

Quite simply, this hotel provided the best ever experience for us - and we have stayed in many hotels across the world. The quality of the staff is outstanding - their skill, knowledge and courtesy. Our welcome was warm and sincere; the food (especially breakfast) absolutely exceptional; our room was spacious, clean and quiet with a large and comfortable bed; and, the atmosphere was relaxed but very, very efficient. The hotel excels in its attention to detail, the teamwork of staff and in its understanding of what it can mean to provide guests with 5 star treatment without patronising them or being either flashy or starchy. Brilliant!

The owner, Nina, and all the staff are warm and welcoming and very helpful. The room was charming and comfortable and there are several lounge areas and a lovely patio to relax in. The breakfast is fabulous and salads and sandwiches we had for a late dinner in the patio were very good, as was the sangría. Nina arranged a tour of the nearby megaliths with an enthusiastic young archaeologist which really added to our experience in Évora.

A lovely and fun place to spend a few days. Our favorite inn in Portugal - we were greeted at the door, given maps and tips for sightseeing, and they recommended a great restaurant for the evening and even made the reservation. Charmingly decorated - games for kids, great intimate bar to grab a beer or soft drink, friendly and welcoming staff; it was as if we were long lost cousins come to pay a visit. They clearly care about their guests and want to provide a relaxing and informal experience but in a top notch hotel with a superior breakfast. Bravo to the entire staff. We didn't want to leave and would have stayed longer if we hadn't already made plans to travel to another part of Portugal the next day. Definitely stay here if you can!

This is a special hotel where they bring back total customer care and service to the traveller. The breakfast is outstanding. Everything organic and fresh included in the cost of the room. The front desk staff were so accomodating. You can walk to all the sites in Evora. Just amazing.

Sometimes the attention you get as guests can be a bit overwhelming, but that is just something personal. They really give you good attention, my sincere complements.

When I read other reviews I found it hard to believe a place could be that good.....O ye of little faith ! It is wonderful.

It's a great place, excellent rooms and breakfast. Really high end with organic food. The staff is amazing, always trying to anticipate your needs. Would return whenever I could.

No, everything was perfect.

A short but fanstatic stay at the Albergaria Do Calvario. The personnel is extremely nice, the room was perfect, and the breakfast is simply the best we ever had in an hotel: natural products of the area, quality of food, excellence in every detail... Great! And the city of Evora is really nice. Un court mais fantastique séjour. Le personnel est d'une extrême gentillesse, la chambre était parfaite et le petit déjeuner, simplement le meilleur que nous ayions jamais eu : produits naturels de la région, qualité de la nourriture, excellence dans chaque détail. Grandiose ! Et la ville d'Evora est très belle.

Wonderful personalised service offered in the hotel that you never get anymore in big hotel chains. Staff was very friendly. Very nice homely feeling inside the hotel. Breakfast is very good, fresh, nice, again with very good service.
