Hotel Alcazar  

I have no complaints what so ever, our stay at the Alcazar was a most memorable experience.The staff went out of their way to assist in any way that they could.The situation of the hotel was excellent,only a short walk to the beach and also the main town centre.All in all a value for money stay.

Great location close to the beach and walking distance to restaurants. Really liked this hotel and had great views from the room.

We had a fantastic stay at the Alcazar. Fantastic value for money the hotel was spotless rooms spacious and very welcoming nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly staff in fact we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to family and friends and look forward to a return visit probably next winter.

The staff are courteous and attentive.

We liked the design of the inside of the hotel, we stayed on the 8th floor and had wonderful views of the beach and woods. Everything was clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful. The breakfast food was good, with a good selection.

One thing we did not like was being asked for an extra 5 euros to use the enclosed car park. If the hotel wants to charge this, and I see no reason why they should as their charges were adequate, then they should put it onto their price. That is our opinion.

Heating, air con very low for such a large room.

The hotel is obviously geared for beach or golf holidaymakers to the Algarve. Our purpose in visiting was just as a stopover on the way back to Faro Airport from Spain, so that we wouldn't have too far to drive on the morning of our flight. Nevertheless we were impressed by the hotel, which was excellent value for money, and could not have suited our purpose better. Indeed, had we been there longer we could have taken full advantage of its splendid facilities - the pool area and the bars, which were otherwise pretty much surplus to our requirements.

The staff are the greatest asset, always trying to make all the requests possible, very polite and friendly. They are like and treat the guests as family! All the facilities are renovated and they have very nice and quiet outdoors facilities. I liked that it was quite near the beach, but still in a very quiet zone where we could relax. We will go to this hotel instead of a 4 or a 5 star, without a doubt, if we are ever in that area again.

Cleaning was made quite late in the afternoon, when people were coming back from the beach. Other than that, the rooms could have a tiny bit more decoration to make them cozier.

Location

The room and bathroom are spacious, but their lighting is poor.

The service is good and people quite helpfull. The breakfast was very good and varied.The meals in the restaurant at a good price and good quality. The restaurant servers were almost filling whatever was missing in the buffet and constantly cleaning the tables of dishes.

The extra bed was expensive (35 Euros a day) and the parking as well (7 Euros a day). Although it is betert to take the parking as parking in the area (in summer time) is quite quite difficult. The tennis court should have an happy hour instead of collecting 5 euros/hour any time of the day.

- Low quality/price ratio: very expensive taking into consideration the offered facilities - low quality buffet meals, if price is to be considered - very bad mattress - dirty swimming pool
