Surrounded by vast, tree-lined gardens, the charming Convento São Paulo offers 2 outdoor pools and a tennis court. Housed in a former Alentejo convent, it dates back to the 12th century.

Virtually everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the SPA is elegant and atypically architected, the room-service food was excellent, the whole hotel transpires elegance and brings the visitor into context with beautiful marble spread all over.
Only very minor things: . In the SPA the floor is rather wet and the complementary room slippers absorbed all the water. Better water-proof slippers would be nice. . The orange juice at breakfast was either very watery and maybe not freshly squeezed but packaged.
The delicious breakfast, the swimming pool, the facade and the entrance, the bed, the bathtub in the bedroom and the welcome courtesies
Breakfast Staff Service Location New hotel
Decor is bit excessive Despite being new, some details are wrong: locks that don't work for instance
Recommend. Very good and sympathetic team.
This is an excellent hotel. The splurge marble of the hotel matches the quality of the service by all means. From the extremely friendly staff to the fantastic comfort of the room, from the nice reception to the fantastic quality of the breakfast food, from the quietness of the place to the overall ambiance, this is what we expected from a five star hotel. The detail of the sparkling wine and pineapple dipped in chocolate offer made by the hotel as it was my girlfriend's birthday, to the reception with an offer of a local liqueur after reception in the main hall, everything was impeccable.
The hotel is new and furnished with marble which makes it unique. The quality of the common spaces and rooms is outstanding. The staff is young and helpful. The breakfast has a great variety and quality. The spa is a plus and the pool is great. In conclusion, is an ideal place to rest, have some quality time and explore nearby small villages and wine producers
A fantastic weekend. Restaurant is also great! Great service. We stayed at the Presidential suite which is unbelievable!!! Highly recommended.
Wifi is really poor among all other great points...
The breathtaking marble. The friendly and very accommodating staff. The nice pools. The excellent food.
the Hotel itself, all the marble Fittings, the pool, the very nice and helpful staff. There is also a very good Restaurant, the breakfast was the best variety we have ever seen, all fresh and best Quality, we also enjoyed the Quality of the beds, really excellent
I cannot think of anything negative
Nice Hospitality. Excellent Breakfast. General Hotel and Room quality.
Swimming pool in the shade after mid afternoon. Restaurant could not serve us since it was full clearly due to slow service.
Excellent breakfast with homemade cakes and lovely staff.
Very attractive hotel. The pool area was different but nice. Surprisingly quiet considering the number of children. Reception staff excellent.
Open plan bed/bathroom. Make sure you know your travelling companion well.
I loved all the marble floors, walls, some accent pieces, the restaurant decoration is elegant and charming, all employees were prompt and friendly, ready to assist and polite. I liked my bedroom, it had a large bathroom, although it all all made in fine marble and stone, the bath tub was plastic made, so to say, which was disappointing, the breakfast was quite good, with room for improvements.
The Wi-fi was awful to say the least! one had to reconnect the user's name and password every ten minutes or so, horrible quality for such a hotel. I tried the restaurant once, at dinner and it was a complete disaster. Very expensive starters and the food quality far from being acclaimed as "nouvelle cuisine" I ordered two starters to guarantee that my hunger would be satisfied, far too tiny portions for the price charged, some 10 to 12 euros each, then the main dish was octopus cooked with rice in its ink, in order words, black rice, I only tasted once to immediately tell the waiter that it was awfully and heavily salted! it was taken back to the kitchen and after nearly 45 minutes waiting, there came the again, they swore to me the chef had cooked another one, but I was not convinced at all, apparently they washed the salt away, cooked a new rice, however the excess of salt was still strong. The chef came afterwards to talk to me and hear my complaint, he heard it, however said that in his opinion it was not salty at all, we argued and he seemed and sounded too aloof to receive criticism, anyway… I do not recommend anyone to spend their money there at all. One pays and one wants to eat real food, not play food, and mind you money is not my problem and I actually like this sort of new style cuisine, but in this particular case, not only I paid 55 euros for all, left the place hungry and disgusted to see the attitude of the Chef. There are plenty good restaurants in town, where you can eat the excellent Alentejo's dishes for great prices.
Excellent restaurant, quality of fixtures and furnishings
The marble tree in reception
Excellent facilities, good food, very confortable
the snack menu is too small.
we were expecting more food variety
Decoration, swimming pool and spa
2 very hard pillows, only one acceptable one, view of our room was a white wall
Location Fabulous facilities Great staff
the breakfast was not very organized. the pool bar was always closed.
The bedroom was very confortable
The quality of the food was not the best. Ordered an hamburger for luch. It took almost an hour. The sauces (Ketchup / Mayo) were expired...
Great pool, nice sweet town.
Immediately, upon entering the hotel, we were struck by the beauty of marble. The decor is an outstanding showcase of the material at its best. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Bedrooms are well –equipped and are of a high standard. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The theme of showcasing the local area extends to the restaurant. The gourmet cuisine prepared by Chef Pedro Mendes and his team is locally sourced. We chose the 45 euro tasting menu which was innovative and very enjoyable. Breakfast was served in a light room adjacent to the main restaurant and included fresh fruits, cold meats and cheese as well as a range of sweet and savoury pastries. All were served at the table. Cooked options were also available. Combined with the Spa , the hotel offers a haven of tranquillity, comfort and luxury. Highly recommended venue to explore the fascinating area of Vila Vicosa, Estremos and Evora.
Nothing really too dislike!
The comfort of the rooms and the breakfast
The spa was too crowded and the swimming pool water was too cold
The general facilities are good - this is a new hotel.. and the Spa is great!
This is NOT (yet) a Five Star Hotel!!!
