Algarve Casino Hotel    

The location is excellent. The service is also very good. The beach is fantastic.

We had asked for a three bedded room for three adults. The size of the additional bed is a shame. The width of the. Third bed was just about 27 inches and was not at all convenient for our 25 year old daughter to sleep on. There is enough space for a bed of even 39 inches width to fit in the room if the table in the room is not provided.

Very good location with access to nice beaches. Comfortable, large room. Nice swimming pool. Very adequate buffet dinner in the evening.

Perfect location for the beach, Praia do Rocha is a beautiful place!

Clean, comfortable and inviting. Staff very friendly, always smiling and welcoming. Buffet breakfast had good variety. Amazing view from balcony (book a sea view, really is worth the bit extra).

Location was excellent, being one of the few hotels with access directly on to the beach. Room overlooking the beach had a balcony and was a very good size. Bathroom was a good size. Food was excellent both in the Pool Bar and the main restaurants. The staff were very friendly although not always very efficient.

Nothing that we did not like but there were a few issues: - we went out of season so there were very few guests at the hotel so the atmosphere was not very lively - the staff were not very knowledgeable or communicative about which dining areas were open at either lunch time or evening - there were different options. - there was no evening entertainment as suggested on the hotel website. Understandable when there were so few guests but there should have been something to this effect on their website. - customer service in the restaurant on the first night was appalling but after we complained about the very slow service (had to wait over 30 mins before we got our starter) we had excellent service for the rest of the week and could not fault it.

The furniture in my room while it was nice the seat/stool at the dressing table was far too low for one to use the desk for writing or using a loptop.

Staff at breakfast place. We had to leave early to catch a bus and they opened for bfast late and were unapolgetic or unhelpful. I guess being off season they were disinterested in the few guests that were there.

Everyhing. It was a great place to stay. We enjoyed it very much.

We had a great sea view room which was spacious and clean. We loved the bathroom that was a proper family size. The king size bed was extremely comfortable... Perfect after a long day travelling! They must have invested in good mattresses. They had even set up a proper cot (not a travel cot) for our baby to sleep in. All-in-all we really enjoyed our stay.

One small negative was the mushrooms at breakfast. They didn't seem like freshly chopped and cooked. I suspect they were prepared.

there was nothing special to like....

I stayed in hudreds of hotels allover the world and first time saw such a rude hotel personnel..Especially the receptionist (white hair, thin , around 40s).....We needed to change money and asked receptionist if possible? It was around 21:00 hours...And the answer was -this is not a bank.... How can it be possible to give such a reply?...Also porter at the door, was yelling all the time for the parked cars with a strange attitude. Breakfast is poor and tasteless..... Do not stay here.......There are more hotels around...

I thought the staff were excellent and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

I didn't like the cooked breakfast. I found it tasteless and never very warm. I also don't like eating off cold plates.(maybe you should think about some form of warming plates) Boiled eggs were always overdone, never a soft egg available. We have stayed at the hotel many times and last year we received a welcome gift of fruit and water but not this time Nov 2012 nothing. I was told this was because we had booked through your web site and not direct to the hotel. I did try to book direct to the hotel in the first instance but each time I was left waiting at the other end of the phone and as this is quite costly I decided to do book through your web site.

Needs a good spa/gym area.

Loved the pool and close proximity to sea. Pool area has plenty of sunbeds and water was tested several times per day. Room was spotless and cleaning staff worked hard to keep it that way. Chocolate left on pillow at nights was a nice touch when turning down beds.

Room faced road and was next to elevator so was quite noisy. Had asked for a sea view which, based on other reviews, I knew would be quieter but was told I had not paid for a sea view so would have to pay another 140 euros a night. If that is the case it was not at all clear at time of booking. Travelled with my 75 yeat old mum who had really looked forward to balcony and sea view so was really disappointed. Shame, as otherwise hotel was great.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Swimming pools are excellent. Area and pool for children, although the staff there was clearly not qualified, but friendly. The beach is ok, not for older people though because of the steps you need to use. In house garage.

For a 5 star hotel the breakfast is not good (tasteless, not well prepared (scrambled eggs, bacon) and bad coffee), except the fruit table! A promotion should not be reflected in worse quality services (breakfast), it is still a 5 star facility! The rooms should have been refurbished some time ago; they look used and are old in contrast to the lobby, and this gives a bad first impression. The staff in the children’s area was not qualified.

Friendly staff, well situated close to the beach.

To many british people (completely crowded as the whole Agarve we felt), little portuguese flair. The beach itself does not have big waves (good for families with children, bad if you enjoy wave riding it is not the best place to go). Also quite noisy due to jetsky activities just where you go to swim.

Nothing! The service, the lack of friendliness and the five star rating were all rubbish. In no way was this a five star facility

Everything. The service, attitude and efficiency of the staff was appalling. For example we were kept waiting for our room believing one for three person occupancy was a problem. When we were admitted it was a two bed room and a third bed had not been installed. On the first day we waited ten minutes to get access for breakfast, on the second day I waited 20 minutes. On each occasion we were squeezed onto a table for two people and the breakfast options were appallingly bad. I tried to remove the cost of breakfast from my rate and was told it was impossible!!! I refused to use the facility again preferring to eat in a cafe outside. No way is this a five star facility!!! A terrible experience and one I won't repeat

The hotel staff was outstanding and were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Location was also excellent. Beach, pool, and rooms made for a great stay. A little expensive, but for our needs it was worth is and the breakfast was impressive.

Our "family" room was a little far from reception and pool so it was a little inconvenient at times (if you forgot something), and you should also be aware that direct asses to the hotel from the beach is closed in the evening, so you need to know how to get back to the hotel front entrance by an alternative route.

Overall impression is great, we will certainly come back again. The advantages for me is location on the first line to the ocean beach with easy access, big swimming pool with heated salt water, pets welcomed, freindly and helpful staff (which is anyway typical of Portugal), private parking .

This is by no means the fault of the hotel, but maybe the management will take care of it: smoking should be prohibited in the area around the swimming pool: we must protect our children and all people who care about their health from the smokers, it's disgusting to smell tobacco smoke instead of the ocean breeze! But, repeating, this is not the problem of this particular hotel which is fantastic.

Clean rooms, good location.

Rooms very outdated, stained couches, very old mattresses. Be aware of booking condition: non-refundable total has to be paid upon arrival. After one night on those beds, we wanted to leave, but had already paid for a whole week... There were no better beds available. Often had to wait to be seated for breakfast.
