Aparthotel Balaia Plaza  

The hotel is slightly away from the main new town strip and the old town but is easily reachable in either a taxi (about 5Euros) or to walk (about 20/30mins). Really nice pool area, with plenty of sunbeds, as well as a lovely pool bar serving food and drink. Great rooms - lots of space - great value for money. I went with 6 girls and we had a fantastic time! Will definitely be going back.

Staff very friendly and helpful

Breakfast. It Stated on the reservation buffet Breakfast, however it was not. It was a cup of tea/coffee, slice of toast bread, 1 individual portion of butter & jam plus a slice of ham & cheese. The location for the breakfast was on the outside pool bar and not in a proper hotel food resturant.

The one bed room apartment is very spacious with a good size balcony, suited for a family of 4. The room was cleaned every day, there was a small shop on the ground floor which stocked most of the essentials and priced fairly. Generally the place was very clean and pleasant. A very big swimming pool and gym facilities (pay extra) on site with a smaller indoor swimming pool. The grounds were very well maintained. There was a restaurant for the complex. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious.

We didn't like the location; it was far from the city and other restaurants. The pillows in the room were terrible, felt like some sort of square knotted cushion, the sofa bed wasn't that comfortable and the sofa bed mattress was very dirty and stained. Closest beach which was about 6-7 min walk was very crowded. There are other beaches about 10min by car was very nice. The information pack in the room was awful, just one page. They could have had a well informed package for the guests such as local restaurants, different beach locations, local map, things to do (like visiting places, what fruits are in season, what is Portugal famous for such as their port, pottery etc), local cuisine. For everything we had to go to the reception and we had to find everything for ourselves. Most restaurants are far from the place. For a place like this one would expect a shuttle service but this wasn't the case. There was no hotel transfer to the airport either. The indoor and outdoor pool was cold. The staff could have been bit friendlier, although they were helping with inquires we didn't find them very friendly. They need to get to know their guests. There was no feedback form hence we couldn't leave any feedback for the hotel.

I,ve stayed here twice now once on a lads holiday an again with the family it is situated close to the beach shops an pubs the strip is about a 15 min walk away so close to visit but far enough away for peace an quiet the rooms are clean an bright and very comfy

In the indoor pool the water was not worm.

Location is quite far from centre. Breakfast is too poor. Small beach.

We found the apartment very spacious for our family of four (including a 6 month old baby) and also had air conditioning in all rooms which was crucial. The hotel was located 20 minutes from the new town strip, which was better for our family and what we wanted from our holiday. The food at the pool bar was good value with friendly staff and we also liked the availability of wifi in the hotel reception areas.

The pool was a little inconvenient with a buggy, having to take a longer route up a hill and ramp to get to the rooftop pool, but we got used to the walk and it did not bother us too much by the second day.

Clean environment and friendly staff

Had some frustration in the early morning of monday 25th with staff helping to arrange taxi..staff English language command is not good..hence some communication gap and nearly missed my flight by the time the taxi arrived..

Good location, cleanliness, kitchen, reasonable price.

A little too close to busy road. Rather quiet.
