The staff is excellent and accommodating. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The terrace is fantastic as well as the overall general facilities of the property.

Bathroom needs a new look. Rooms need more light.
Great staff, did as much as they could to make the stay a good one.

The hotel was a perfect home from home whilst visiting this wonderful city. If we go back to Lisbon it will only be on the basis that we can stay here.

Our second stay at the hotel...only wish we were in Lisbon more often so that we could spend more time at As Janelas Verdes.

Wishing we stayed longer.....
The place is absolutely beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and the staff helped us get the most out of our time in Lisbon. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to experience Lisbon.

Air conditioning could run a little cooler
The many little extras such as the roof top library with free cakes and an honesty bar,and breakfast was superb both in quality and location all in all quite exceptional in every aspect

Too far away from central city. Breakfast fair. It seemed a bit pricey for property.
View from 3rd floor balcony.

We ordered a sandwich club and it was not very good plus we left the tray outside once finished and they never picked up so in the morning there were million of ants on the sandwich, carpet, everywhere
The best thing it has is definitely the terrace in the top floor, nice view and nice bar but it may get a bit overcrowd

very little! It is slightly out of the way/off the tourist track (which actually has some advantages eg learning to use the bus routes!) We had booked an all-inclusive deal. The breakfasts were wonderful and substantial, but I'm not sure I would have been willing to spend 14euros per person each day if they had not been included. We would have liked to keep the windows open at night, but this was difficult as there was no way to fasten them and they would blow about in the breeze and we thought they might break (suspect this is simply the tradition in Portuguese buildings?) There are perhaps slightly too many Engish-speaking people staying in this hotel as its fame has spread? People with children might like to know that there were no children staying at this hotel when we were there, and I'm not actually sure how "suitable" it would be for those with very young children. There were also quite a few steps to negotiate, which might be difficult for people with compromised mobility.
This hotel was amazing and certainly exceeded our expectations. The room was large, clean and comfortable with two large windows (with balconies) overlooking the sea/estuary. The ensuite was also enormous. The buffet style breakfast (served in the living room, where there was also an honesty bar) was excellent. There was also a "library" with comfortable chairs to relax in (and another honesty bar) on the third floor; there were some books in English available. There was also a small kitchen area for guests to make tea or coffee (complimentary) on this floor. The library opened on to a large balcony with an even better view of the sea/estuary! All this was wonderful and none of it was in anyway pretentious. However, the most outstanding feature was the friendly welcome from every single member of staff, all of whom were incredibly helpful - but particularly Anna and Elsa at reception. thank you to everyone at this hotel for a wonderful stay!

Wouldn't recommend it to families with prams or buggies too many steps in the building.
Great old style library there with a lovely big balcony overlooking the bay.

There was one compilation CD (actually just one CD) playing in the hotel bar that played the same 9 or 10 songs (Purple Rain, With or Without You etc.) for the entire eight days we were there; we had learnt off the order of the songs by the end of our eight days. The bar, which was lovely, lacked any atmosphere in the evenings. The staff members at lunchtime were very slow to get our bill and take our order. The pool area was slightly cramped and was smaller than the pictures had led us to believe.
The hotel was modern, clean and quite comfortable. The bar area was very modern and comfortable. The pool area had no children, which made it quite and perfect for reading a book in peace. The room was spotlessly clean. The AC in the room worked perfectly. The sea view was beautiful and worthwhile paying extra for. The breakfast was very good.

for the price the quality of the single beds in our twin could be better
September 15, 2014
Our only issue was the comfort of the bed and felt like there could be an improvement to the quality of mattress, pillows and bedding.
This hotel boasted a lot of character and was located in prime Heritage Centre. The washroom was spacious and the room traditionally decorated and well kept.

The hotel is located slightly outside of the city center. However a short cab ride or a twenty minute walk brings you to the heart of the action.
The hotel is located in a lovely restored heritage building. It has been completely upgraded and is very comfortable. The buffet breakfast is excellent and on good days may be taken on a leafy patio. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel highly.

Our stay at Janelas Verdes was wonderful. The hotel staff is more than helpful, and mostly, there is a good feeling at the hotel. The gorgeous library on the 3rd flloor, whith the view from the Tejo river, the table by a fountain set with tea, coffee and the delicious "bolinhos", the Port wine offered at the room. This is a cared for place, where the guests are received with a true hospitality. And delicious breakfast in the garden.

Location is ideal for easy access to the city & the coast. As well as being situated in a tradional area which gives an authentic taste of Lisbon.

I liked everything about this lovely old hotel.
A charming hotel, resonant of old Lisbon. Very comfortable room, helpful staff, a gracious decanter of port in the room, and a delightful view of the harbor from the third-floor bar. I'll definitely stay there again on my next visit to Lisbon.

Bed not quite as comfortable as in other comparable properties (although perfectly acceptable) Otherwise, nothing to dislike!
Welcoming staff Attractive and comfortable public areas, with a spectacular third floor library and terrace with a view of the Tagus. Good Wi-Fi Two blocks from the museum of Arte Antiga

Everything. Don't have any concerns about this hotel--it's a short bus ride from the centre, though you can walk (20 minute maybe--or three hours if you leave fado in the Barrio Alto late and get lost) but is just a fabulous, friendly hotel. We loved it.
July 24, 2014
Of course the location is not perfect as you need to make a little effort to get to centre but if you are not up to walking there is always public transport and taxis are not expensive either.
The hotel was just as good, maybe even better than I had read in the reviews. The atmosphere was really comfortable, and the decorations was well thought. Room was big enough, clean and well equipped and WiFi worked flawlessly. In the room there was a nice surprise; a complimentary carafe of port wine (too bad I am not a port wine person). On third floor the library / bar was fantastic; nice view of the river etc. Bar worked on honorary system and had plenty to choose from. Breakfast was very good, not extensive but also plenty to choose from to all tastes. Hotel was nice reach by car, and has buses going in front, so you have access to public transport

The service we received was wonderful. The staff were very friendly, and made everything happen in a very unobtrusive manner. The breakfast was way above expectation. The management has surrounded themselves with staff that have the aptitude and flair, that can make a boutique property like this shine. We would like to thank everyone for a lovely experience. Many Thanks, Kathryn and Don Woods.

The utterly discrete attention to looking after your every need The hospitality and extraordinary TRUST ( bar , refreshments...). Refreshing compared with other hotels; quite inspirational. Values of wanting to serve rather than make money as primary motivation Peaceful location but with excellent transport links
