It gave me a feeling of the grand old days in Portugal...superbly run and comfortable in every way! Just felt it would have been good to have great music playing in that palacial breakfast room rather than the rather uncomfortable stony silence! Atmosphere a little stodgy and old fashioned! Barman needs to smile a little! Otherwise perfect!

The young man at the check-in desk (of African background) was extremely polite and pleasant to deal with. Always smiling and helpful. All staff very pleasant. Hotel needs some upgrading. Beds are only double and tired.

Perfect situation in a 120 years old palace in the middle of downtown with a wonderful atmosphere. Beautiful hotel, beautiful room with all the modern equipment you need. My room was going to the court and quiet. It's simply a pleasure to have breakfast in this huge room of the Belle Epoque. The buffet has all you need, also fresh fruit. The staff is really nice and helpful. I spended a great time there and will come back.

Beautiful old-style hotel. Rooms are rather small. Beds are primitive, hard, bed-linen not that good. We had a good view, and they offered us an upgrade. Bathroom was not that great .The room rates are rather expensive. But the hotel is very likeable. Hard bed, but they tried their best to fix it.

It was a marvelous inner city experience. The hotel is placed right next to both a major upscale Starbucks as well as a central train station that is also an architectural wonder. We travelled with a rental car that they generously park for free in their crowded Porte Cochere. They meticulously handle the car and keep it from harms way and do not charge. Having said this there is absolutely no need for a car in Lisbon. The room rate also included both free wireless Internet and breakfast. Breakfast was served in grand style in their ballroom. Nicely done. The wireless Internet shut down in the room and despite many attempts on my part to get them to repair it I simply reset the modem in the hallway myself and fixed it within seconds. Not certain why this simple request was so difficult for their staff to comprehend. Probably an indication of generational gap and not lack of service.

The old building makes this hotel very unique. The staff were exceptional and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The location is excellent. The room we stayed in was a little worn. The rest of the hotel seem a little more updated, but saying that it didn't ruin the time we had there, as the location ensured we were out an about during the 48hours in Lisbon.

Great location about half mile from sea , Portugese style rooms . Good price on Bookings .com rack rate pretty high . Staff were charming but don't take their recommendations for Restaurents as will just send you to tourist places .

Centrally located in downtown Lisbon; Aerobus stop and Restauradores metro station at the hotel's doorstep. The old days' grandeur combined with today's standards of comfort. Spacious rooms and great buffet breakfast. Excellent value for money.

Good concierge help. Nice, clean room. Location excellent. Breakfast buffet outstanding - kids loved it. Not cheap but real good value for money. The fact that they let people still smoke in the hotel - in fact in the most beautiful area for lounging. The smoke stench prevented me from sitting there even once. Terrible and an outdated policy. The whole central area was smoke infected. Get with the times, Avenida!

The location is perfect for city trips. It is right in the middle of the center and you can reach many attractions by walking. The hotel is too old. It is 5 stars of 1970s. But definetly not 2000s. They need to invest huge amount of money to refurbish and bring it upto decent level.

Very central location, comfortable beds, excellent location very nice breakfast included in the rate. Enjoyed the lovely furnishings and the heritage building. The wait staff in the breakfast room were not very welcoming. The suggestion for a Fado location Club Fado by the concierge was very expensive and the meal was mediocre at best.

There are two things about the Avenida Palace that are outstanding: Its location and its elegance. Unlike some of the city's other luxury hotels, the Avenida Palace is within convenient walking distance of just about anything you would wish to do or see in Lisbon. But when you come back after a hard day of sightseeing, it is wonderful to walk into a refined, truly elegant, yet absolutely relaxed and friendly environment. Our two rooms were as elegantly appointed as the rest of this very fine hotel. Everything was tasteful, thoughtfully designed and in working order. And the rooms were quiet! Breakfasts were served in a splendid hall. Service was quick, friendly and professional. It is a pleasure to recommend this superb hotel! The friendly staff really helped to make our Christmas vacation a success.
