Located next to Fernando Pessoa Location was ok for this trip, but normally I like to stay a little further away from all the other tourists.

Having read several critical reviews concerning the breakfasts we were expecting them to be dire. However, they must have listened to the criticisms, because the breakfasts were absolutely fine for a continental breakfast. We were pleased with the quantity, quality and variety. Also, the hotel location was very central to most things that we wanted to see in Lisbon city. As the hotel is in a busy, mainly pedestrianised road, with cafes on either side and a metro entrance yards away, if you have a front room it is very noisy at night. However, my friend's room at the back was very quiet. My bathroom was extremely small and the door didn't shut. Not a problem as I was on my own but would not have been happy if sharing with non family member. Again, my friend's was fine so just the luck of the draw.

central location for the price it was poor - e.g. bath taps and plugs had been disabled so one had to use shower to fill bath and anything to hand to plug the plug hole. Room had 3 beds when I only needed one. Room & hotel were cold - no central heating

The hotel is in a great location as it is right opposite the Baixa- chiado underground station and within a short walk are many great restaurants, fado bars and cafés. There are many shops for all budgets nearby. Just beside the hotel is a lovely old café, a Brasileira, where you can sit in the evening watching a number of street performers. We had a very spacious family room which overlooked the front street and café: the only drawback to this was that it was a bit noisy at night as some revellers downstairs continued to talk and make merry until the small hours! We found most of the staff very friendly and helpful, except on the afternoon when we arrived, when the two receptionists seemed to be dour and offhand. Perhaps they were tired after a long day.

The hotel manager, Andre I believe his name is, was in a word terrific!! My wife's pocketbook had been pilfered upon our arrival in Lisbon. Taken were our passports, various charge cards, U.S. currency, blank checks, etc. My wife's passport was recovered by the Lisboa police while we were still in process of reporting the theft. I had to have mine replaced early the next morning at the U.S. Consulate. Throughout, Andre was courteous and most helpful, which was a blessing during our moment of need. Hotel Borges is to be complimented for having selected Andre to hold such an important position in your hotel. Thank you, Clarke and Joanne Bittner, Dallas, pa, usa I am a big man - 6'2" tall, 235 lbs. I found the room a bit small for a man of my size. However, everything was clean, tidy, and sufficiently comfortable.

The only good thing about Hotel Borges is location if one is looking for a lively very touristic area. The price is far beyond what the hotel really offers: breakfast is a joke, (payed) internet connection does not work inside the rooms, shower and toilete are very basic, staff try to be helpful but they are really not well trained for the job...

Hotel staff very helpful. Great location but facilities (bathroom) was sub-par. We had a rear room which is preferred due to the noise from the street and plaza in front. The hall lighting system (dark until movement is detected) is intimidating at night. The breakfast offered could be improved.

We liked the location of the hotel, especially with the street bars just outside to relax and watch life pass by. We found the breakfast area to be poorly managed and not very clean. The cleaning staff were rude and they were going to do what they were doing regardless of the guests. The room however is delightfull. The toilet area in our room was too small to even be able to sit on the loo properly as it is too close to the wall.

The central location near o largo do Chiado was perfect for Bairro Alto nightlife, restaurants in restaudores & the metro was only 50m from the hotel so access to all parts of the city was easy! The breakfast was a joke, & it was a bit noisy, although I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't really bother me too much!

Excellent location, good rooms and reasonable prices On first arrival I was allocated a 3 x single instead of a triple as booked. One of the single rooms was appalling, very small, stained sheets and stinking of sewage. I didn't sleep there as so bad and had to share a friends room. The following day we got our triple room which was fine.
