I love its location as you are central to everything. Manuel who worked in the snack bar in the pool area was very obliging, as when I asked him to play one or two of my CD's he was more than happy to do so. The lady that was on when Manuel was not there was not as obliging. |

The only good thing about this hotel was it's location. Close to the beach. Everything; the people at the front desk were cold, some of the staff didn't even spoke the native language (potuguese), rooms were dirty, shower curtin was black with mold. |

The central location. The pool on rooftop. We had a pool area room and there was no noise from the streets. The shower curtain in the bathroom could do with being replaced. The breakfast was cleared away at 10.25 when it was stated that breakfast was until 10.30. You could not bring your own water to the pool area and a 1.5L bottle was 2Euro. |

Location of hotel, proximity to bars and beach. The rooftop terrace and pool were brilliant although service at the snack bar could have been better. They allowed us to check in early which was great. The fact that I had requested a room on a higher level and did not get it. No Tea or Coffee Making Facilities in the rooms a bit disappointing. |

Central location close to beach, pubs, clubs and fantastic restaurants. Perfect for anyone who wants to be right in the middle of it. Rooftop pool area was a suntrap and very quiet. The cleaner was very friendly and accommodating. Balcony was a definite plus. Ask for a quiet room at the back or on 6-8 floor if you are a light sleeper. We didn't mind the noise because we were out every night till late but I could see it as a problem for people who retired earlier. There was a smell of sewerage in the hallway. Reception staff were not all positive, male member didn't thank us or wish us a safe trip on checkout just grunted and grabbed the keys. |

They gave me a new room on the same day I told them the A/C in my room wasn't working. So the hotel staff was good. I couldn't stand the noise that came from the several bars located just below the hotel every night until 4 am. Thank god I had my SleepSoft earplugs with me. |

The California is perfectly placed in the heart of Albufeira Old Town, providing an ideal location to sample the great nightlife or spend the day at the beach. It also has the added bonus of a rooftop swimming pool, which is more or less unique in that part of town. It doesn't do gourmet food but it does provide a perfectly adequate breakfast at a reasonable time. Why would you want to eat in the same place every night when surrounded by so many fantastic restaurants anyway? I can't really fault the California. Some may complain about the noise from the nightlife but if that's the case they must have been going to bed too early! |

Hotel is very central to Albufeira Old Town and the nightlife, bars and restaurants are actually on the door step. The beach is a very short walk away and more beaches are very close. Could be noisy at night because of the location but you should realise that before you book as it's so central. You wouldn't need to hire a car. Some hotel staff (not all) could be more friendly and the breakfast was limited, also our room was very small, I don't know if all of the rooms are like this. |

Great location, right in the Old Town of Albufeira. If you like a non- stop party atmosphere and 2-minute access to a gorgeous beach and any type of bar/club you could ask for, then this is the hotel for you. Room was cleaned every day. Very good value for the money, considering there is no better location if you're going to Algarve and like to party |

There was nothing to like about the Hotel California, which certainly does not live up to The Eagles' classic! It was dirty, noisy and worn out. I've stayed at many Booking.com hotels in the past, but this is the worst and should be removed from their portfolio, as it will spoil their otherwise good reputation. Our room was right above the bar alley underneath, which goes on until 4am...at least. It was quite expensive for what you get...over-rated and over-priced! |

The location is very central. The acommodation was spacious and clean. I expected a room and we had a flat basically with varanda with a view of Albufeira What was a problem was the noise from people and bars on street level. The music extremely loud and people talking shouting and the lot till around 3Am. |

The roof top pool is a great sun trap, very quiet most of the time and has a bar and cafe as well. Mix up with booking but was Ryanair's fault not the hotel. Suggest you book direct and pay them direct and not a third party. |

It was very central and the rooms were large and spacious. The reception staff were very friendly - especially Adelina who took a personal interest in us and where we wanted to go, see, do etc. The location if you want to be in the middle of the action is excellent - obviously that means there is more noise from outside but that didn't bother us. I thought the breakfast a little sparse - I would have liked to have had yoghurt and fresh fruit (not out of a tin) available. I would also have liked it if there were fried eggs available (as opposed to only scrambled or boiled eggs). I also found the male waiter at the breakfast area quite rude and unattentive to guests. |

The pool area was very pleasant, and the staff helpful, but for some reason the snack bar only served food between the hours of 12 noon and 6 p.m. Some of the rooms smell really badly and could do with serious makeovers. We were allocated rooms on arrival with no balcony, dreadful musty smell, looking out onto the water tanks. It took 3 days to get them to move us. An elderly couple (in their 80. |
