Absolutey fantastic place, great location, fantastic restaurant.

The most luxurious hotel we have ever experienced for very reasonable prices. The meals were sumptuous, the setting magical, and the rooms and facilities were absolutely top-rate.

Magnificent! The room is in perfect old style.

This is a first class hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Amarante; The superior rooms with balcony are excellent. We had dinner on the head chef's day off but were not disappointed with a very well prepared meal and a good bottle of Alentejo vinho branco.

Its grounds especially the long deck over the Douro and the infinity pool on a warm autum day. The spa facilities are exceptional. Excellent buffet breafast even including champagne and orange juice!

Internet not for free..

Great breakfast! You get towels twice a day and have an option of use of an outside pool. Small in-room treats, like free mineral water and chocolates for welcome. The location is great for daytrips to all of the northern portugeese cities.

Parking could be a problem. When you rented a car and are afraid that it gets scratched, you could be left no option but to trust one of the personnel to park it for you at a dislocated private parking lot without scratching it. We got a room that seemed to us like a smoking room. An exchange was not a problem. In the replacement there was only a shower instead of a bath (like in the first one), what we accepted. The problem was that the shower was not clean enough (we even found one disgusting piece of filthy plastic) and smelled a little. The smell did not go away.

The hotel is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. It is in a beautiful location. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is fantastic. The pool and sunlounger area is really nice with fantastic views - so nice to relax there after walking and sightseeing. Our room was gorgeous with a view of the river and town. I would definitely stay here again.

All the staff were professional and provided excellent service. There was a fete on at the time we stayed which was right outside the hotel. Access was a little difficult but staff were very helpful and althouth it was a little noisy our staff was enjoyable.

From the day we arrived to the day we left, our stay was just perfect. We had a beautifully furnished room overlooking the river. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices and eggs cooked to order. Dinner in the restaurant was magical with the taster menu (well worth going back for). The staff in the restaurant (both at breakfast and dinner) were highly professional with a touch of humour. Absolutely loved everything about this hotel. It also charges only €2.50 per day for wifi use in the room and wished all hotels would do the same.

This is a very high end luxury hotel with outstanding service and gourmet dining. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We considered it one of our top hotel experiences anywhere.

Unfortunately, they do not yet have an exercise facility on premises. That would be welcome improvement.
