Score from 723 reviews Very good
Very clean, quiet, great location, friendly staff, good breakfast and good price.
Only downside might be the shared bathroom. It didn't bother me as there were two and they were always free when I wanted them.
excellent location, spacious apartment in the heart of the historic centre. close to bars and restaurants, stations and tram stops.
being so well located to bars and restaurants, the area is noisy at night, but we came prepared for this so it wasn't a problem for us. The area is also a very touristy area, if this isn't your scene avoid staying in this area.
The decor is amazing. Very impressive. The house keepers were very pleasant.
There's no lift. The breakfast isn't great. The front door is very difficult to open.
great little flat everything you need. small details like ground coffee provided
the outside door is very difficult to open with the key provided
the place is lovely decorated, very very beautiful, and there is no problem in sharing the bathrooms which are very confortable and clean. Breakfast is great, with yogurt, cakes, sort of breads, cheese, jam, jellies, quiches. Very complete and tastefull. Staff is very friendly and helpfull.
it is in the 3rd floor of an old building with no elevator, so if you have heavy or big luggage, staying here can be a problem for you. We were with 2 bags of approx. 25 kg each... If I were alone I could not bring them up!
Everything was friendly, amazing and comfortable! We will denfently come back.
Location - interesting and historic area with lot of things happening, yet not noisy at night.
Stayed for a week at Casa do Carmo, the location was great and a short walk from the metro and tram 28. The staff made us feel really welcome and always happy to help with suggestions to plan your days in Lisbon. Would def recommend.
Great location and even a bit of a view across to the castle. Really nice, friendly and helpful staff and a good breakfast. Rooms nicely and rather elegantly furnished.
Furnishing not entirely practical (eg ended up having to put a suitcase on the floor behind a chair to unpack it). Shared bathrooms were fine and kept clean, but would help to have a towel rail in the room. Third floor without a lift was good exercise for us, but could be tough for the less fit! Connecting doors between the different bedrooms means you hear your neighbours. The square outside was a bit noisy until late one night, but most people are likely to be out and about until late anyway.
Very good location
The apartment is very central located
Very noisy Not clean
It was better then we thought. The cleanliness the quality of the room and the breakfast were very good. Of course if you can't or you don't like to clime stairs this is not for you.
Pretty much everything from the personal welcome by Linda when we first arrived to the daily breakfast time conversations with Fatima who gave us so much information and hints on what to see and do, etc. Great buffet breakfast to set you up for the day's sightseeing. Casa do Carmo is in a fantastic location in the Bairro Alto, one of the old parts of the city, and is never more than 10 minutes walk to Lisbon's cheap, clean and pretty comprehensive transport network - metro, city buses, sightseeing buses and of course the old tram network. Route 28 is a must. If you prefer to be waited upon and wish to have all the big hotel chain stuff then maybe this isn't for you. However, if you want to experience old Lisbon and soak up the real atmosphere of this wonderful city then this is the place to stay without a shadow of doubt. You won't be disappointed.
Shared bathroom facilities a bit of an inconvenience at times, but no more so than they would be in any family home in any case.
Super friendly staff who did their very best to look after me. The building was lovely and old, and in a perfect location for both my work, and to take a look around Lisbon. If I return to Lisbon any time soon, I want to stay here!
The breakfast is really delicious. The landlady is very kind.
There is no view outside the window of bedroom.
Casa do Carmo is extremely well located, facing Largo do Carmo and a three minute walk from the Chiado's main fare and less than 10 from Bairro Alto, Baixa and Restauradores. In addition, Fernando Pessoa used to live right next door to it. The neighbourhood is safe, has lot of activities and stuff to do, but without the noise of Bairro Alto. Staff is extremely nice and happy to give you tips and addresses. The architecture is splendid and adds to the feeling of being in Lisbon. Bathrooms are nice and clean, overall, excellent. Recommended.
Everything was absolutely amazing and we would go there again. Staff is extremely nice and helpful, location is super-central and the house arrangement is splendid. Not to forget excellent breakfast :) Small kitchen helps to socialize, all feels much like a home. Thaanks!
That we had to leave :)
We had a beautiful old-fashioned room looking out on the square - little traffic but also street music. You are in the centre of the old town. If you don't mind having to leave the room to go to a shared bathroom, this is the place for you.
I must have missed the fact when booking that none of the rooms comes with its own bathroom. Six rooms share two bathrooms - which is both unpleasant and leads to comical situations. The breakfast, while rich, is served in a small kitchen that seats a max. or six people.
Would definitaly book here again. perfect location, staff was the best, breakfast everyday different and delicious, rooms clean and nice, just the way I would like it always to be! shared bathrooms is questionable but because of the only 5 rooms there's always one of the two bathrooms available. I highly recommand this B&B. Lisboa at its best. greets Tom
Location was great. Staff friendly and breakfast beautiful
- Really good location with lots of good bars and restaurants around - Very nice and helpful staff - Great looking and very cozy rooms
- No toilette in the rooms - No elevators - Can be a bit noisy in the morning, the floors are old and squeaky
Good reception. Friendly staff. Perfect location! Great breakfast! Good bed. Clean room. English television. Good wifi and free.
Small room, choose the larger ones. Not a nice view from the back of the property. Something to hang your towels and the toilet paper. The staires (for us not a problem).
The lady who took care of the breakfast was very Nice!
nice old building, great location apposite the monastery ruins
4 floors with no lift, room was small, smelled of smoke.
location and pay tv so we could watch an english speaking movie.
the property was full of damp and mould and the steps leading to the apartment very steep. very small shower recess.
