Excellent location – rated 9.6/10! (score from 224 reviews)
Rated by guests after their stay at Casa do Colegio Velho.
Formerly a stately home dating from the sixteenth century, it was acquired by the House of Bragança in 1602 as the first home of the Jesuit order in the town. The present owners (the Portas family) invite you to enjoy modern comfort in a classic and distinguished atmosphere. The house has magnificent views of the garden and the old town - castle walls, church spires, and the heights of the duke’s mausoleum can be seen from the upper floor.

GPS problems locating the B&B. It is, however, easy to find once you are actually in Vila Vicosa.
We loved this beautifully decorated B & B in the heart of Vila Vicosa - once we got there. Our GPS sent us off to the same address in a town 10 km away. Get to the palace in Vila Vicosa and you are only two blocks away. We very much enjoyed conversations with our hostess during an excellent breakfast. We also very much enjoyed the meal at Safari - but one meal is more than plenty for two people.
Having to leave!
Charming and very interesting owner who gave us the history of the house and advised on restaurants.the house itself has been very tastefully restored, beautifully decorated and furnished.its in a quiet peaceful location but still central.Breakfast room overlooking pool and garden, great selection of local fare.Thank you for sharing your home with us
The friendly personal service.
Small room with no wi fi.
Central location, swimming pool, lovely furnishings, friendly owner. super bathroom!
The hospitality of the residential owner was wonderful and we loved the stories about the (family)history of the place. Our bathroom was amazing, complete in pink marble. Breakfast was great. We didn't know there was still a place where it is so quiet.
Everthing is carefully thought: great rooms, beautiful house, gardens and swimming pool, and the owner is the most amazing woman. I strongly recommend to spend time there, instead of thinking of it as a place to sleep. Is much more than that.
bathroom to small, not ease to find with out direction.
clean, comfort, friendly, good breakfast
Hospitality of the team, great breakfast, very nice facilities, quietness of the hotel
The building is an old Jesuit school which was converted into a family home and is still a family home but with 7 very attractive guest rooms. It has been beautifully decorated, and there is a pool in the garden as well as a large sitting room for guests. Breakfast was very good, with fresh fruit and local meats and cheeses. The best part was the lady of the house. She told us all about the history of the house and have us lots of information about the area. She was absolutely delightful. Highly recommended.
Kind, informative hostess, attention to detail of the beautiful interior decor by her sister-in-law, beautiful marble bathrooms, lovely gardens and pool, plentiful and varied, well presented breakfast - what's not to like?! Due to low season, excellent value for money. So enjoyable in fact that we just had to stay another night and thus had the chance to explore the beautiful little town of Vila Vicosa and its castle.
The kindness of the hosts. The charm of the house and the decoration that are in a perfect harmony. Perfect to stay and to enjoy some days visiting Alentejo.
