Stylish. Large room, good bed, good breakfast. Strong Wifi signal.
Although located in the country, the hotel is close to a dog breeding farm, and the animals barked ALL NIGHT. Apparently some rooms are quiet enough that this goes unnoticed, but ours was just facing it, and even with the windows closed the noise came thru. That's a shame as otherwise the bedding was excellent and we might have had a good night sleep. If we return to Evora we'll stay elsewhere.
Beautifully decorated small B & B Lovely rooms Nice rural setting Good value
Location is not easy to find need directions from property. Also need a rental car but this was not a problem for us. Staff could be a little more friendly but nothing to complain about.
We stayed here just one night but we wished could be longer. The location itself is beautifully immersed in the countryside among olives trees. The atmosphere is unique comfy and welcoming. Our room was very spacious and very nicely decorated. We had a typical Portuguese breakfast and everything was home made. The housekeeper was incredibly kind and helpful. Highly recommended and we wish to come back very soon.
We simply loved the setting ,the beauty of the interior, the aesthetic quality of the suite, and the fine food. and the attentive attitude of the staff.
There was nothing that we did not like
everything is tastefully done
staff while not unpleasant made you feel like you were bothering them to be there
Location - slightly out of Evora, relaxing location (however take earplugs; there are a lot of local dogs who like to bark at each other for most of the day and night); Lovely spacious rooms decorated nicely; Good breakfast; 2 very friendly cats living in the hotel
Had prebooked dinner on our first night through the owner but when we turned up Anabella the housekeeper hadn't been told. This hotel advertises itself as organising wine tours but we specifically requested this and they were unable to help us, we had to do it ourselves via the Wine Route office in Evora; We had heard much about how good the food was so elected to have dinner on another night, however unfortunately on the night we had dinner, Anabella wasn't cooking and what we had frankly wasn't worth the €25 we paid for it.
The friendliness of Annabella. The old world charm of a gracious home which was a peaceful sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of busy Evora.
This was a beautifully run country home full of conveniences. Annabelle, the manager was helpful on every level. We were made to feel at home, use the kitchen if we wanted wine glasses or plates, anything. Breakfast was wonderful. And close enough to Evora to explore, have dinner but still visit nearby sites including vineyard stop and Monsarez, all at Annabelle's suggestion. we would highly recommend this home with a history.
Casa do Governador is a charming country house convenient to vIsiting very interesting Evora and th E Alentejo region. The accommodations are very comfortable and the staff very attentive. Annabel Helped us with directrions, pointed out attractions we did not known about, and cooked us a fine dinner of local specialties..we were only there two nights, but wish we could have stayed longer.
It was simply a beautiful place to stay with a wonderful warm ambience. Fully modernised with all the elegance of it's history caringly retained Staff were helpful and considerate and the owner was charming and attentive. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely bed and a great shower. Common areas were very relaxing and breakfast was in a lovely dining room with views out to the horses in the paddock. Our Portuguese Water Dog was made very welcome and enjoyed the freedom of the extensive grounds in which the property is set.
Remote location. Having our own little house on the prairie.
Booking.com satnav directions were wrong. The owner of the private house at which we arrived was angry that so many people were misdirected. Having to drive to breakfast. Long walk to swimming pool.
An old country estate that still farms olives and produces olive oil and jams. The place is owned by the granddaughter of the old Regional Governor. She is an architect who has completely renovated the house and it's gorgeous! Right out of Architectural Digest. Breakfast was fabulous with homemade cakes. The grouds are beautiful, as is the pool. Short drive into Evora makes it perfect for a shorts stay: 2 days visiting Evora and 1 day at the hotel.
Everything - a truly beautiful and tasteful renovation and decoration of this property. Luxurious but not pretentious. Friendly, helpful staff and the most delicious breakfast and lunch. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
We stayed in the little house, just lovely!
Great place 4km away from Evora if you are looking for a quiet and beautifull setting. We stayed in the separate house which is a 5 min walk from the main building which is very nicely restaured.
No WIFI in the separate house, but good coverage in the main building and its public spaces.
Elegant and spacious house. Excellent lounge with generous sitting area and bar. Generally very tastefully decorated, a combination of modern and country house styles. Friendly and helpful host. Kids will like the spacious feel of the place. Good quality breakfast, snacks and fruits are provided in breakfast room. Without a doubt a very good choice for visiting Evora and exploring the Alentejo.
A bit hard to find (even with GPS), especially when coming from the highway. Bath had a shower and a tub but the tub apparently was for decorative purposes only (no taps).
Beautiful facility with history. Interior was exceptional. Housekeeper wonderful and helpful. Definitely a place to stay at for the B&B crowd.
There was nothing not to like. Prefer the main house from the cottage.
Breakfast in the most beautiful kitchen/dining was a real treat! Cookies are freshly baked in the oven. Being able to make use of 2 large living areas with comfy sofa's and a lot of candles to make it extra cosy. The place is simply beautiful and the owners ever so friendly.
Finding it was a little difficult, not very well sign posted.
Amazing place detached from the rest of the world. Ideal to spend some quality time. At the same time close to Evora and not that far from Monsaraz. Also delicious breakfast with homemade cookies.
We stayed in the 1 bedroom house and very much enjoyed its facilities and private location a short stroll away from the main house. The breakfast was delicious. Annabella and Joanna looked after us and our 19 month son very well.
We stayed in fully equipped/furnished 1 bdrm house in olive grove, away from main building. It was a wonderful. Quiet with only occasional sheep noise. Family owned farmhouse turned into B&B minutes away from Evora old town by car. Remodeling done well with eye toward preserving family & cultural past, with modern comforts. Breakfast good. Annabel and Felipa so very willing to please and friendly as manager & owner. Guided us to good food and sites in old city. Free parking and WiFi. Great stay offering comfortable and tasteful feel of Portugal. We would definitely return.
No WiFi in 1 bdrm house. Only in main house but signal there was intermittent. No English TV and local channels weak in 1 bdrm house. Use GPS coordinates to locate, otherwise challenging to find on back roads. House needed dish soap and paper towels in kitchen.
Such a beuatuful house, it felt a real gift to stay in it - so much to feast your eyes on. The housekeeper was delightful and really helpful, she gave us a lovely restaurant recommendation..it was the best meal we had during our trip to Portugal. The bedroon was very comfortable, you just sink into the bedding it's so lush. Breakfast was fresh and varied and of great quality. We will definitly stay ther agaian.
Lovely, wide & confortable room. The fireplace in the common area, with the fire started specially for us.
Amazing place! Amazing house and staff. We were fond of everything!
The location, the ambiance, the tranquility. All in all Excellent, we would defintiely stay there again
small irritation the television lost its signal now and again
