The bed was not so comfortable since it has two mattresses together instead of a big one

Food - presentation seemed more important than actual flavour and not enough healthy options.

The design and the features of the room, the nature around, the personnel,the restaurant. the view, the spa the two swimming pool, the atmosphere in general also it was a very good value for money

Our room was just in front of a hike

The service is excellent and the staf is very polite and friendly. Beside that the resort houses one of the better restaurants on the island. It is also very quiete and the view is marvellous.

You better rent a car because the resort is located high above Funchal. Although the city center is at a walking distance even walking downhill is to much because of the steep roads. The high altitude of the location means it can be chilly in winter and spring.

The hotel designed in an architectural style that suited its sub tropical surroundings and this distinguishes it from many of the other hotels on the island.

No wi-fi in the room and wi-fi in the main hotel very slow. We didn't raise this as an issue in may be impractical on this island and this location to provide a faster service.

Great located 5* Resort with cosy and tastefull decorated rooms & facilities. Staff is helpful and looks to enhance their guests. Spa facilities are in good shape - Me and my partner loved the massage and the treatments, really recommendable. Menu of restaurant has a wide variety of interesant dishes - Had dinner twice and enjoyed it. All over a resort to recommend and we will come back for sure!

Great service, and amazing view

It is in the mountains, so often it is more cloudy

The location was fantastic, our bungalow had a wonderful view. the bungalow itself was very luxurious and attention to detail throughout the resort was excellent. The breakfast was very good as this was included in our room cost. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Really can't fault it and would highly recommend it (if you can negotiate the huge hill!)

Staff always anticipate all our needs. Waiters remember our preferences. The location of hotel is the best place in Funshal. This location only for people who needs to relax and like to see wonderful view on ocean and Funshal and to admire the sunset! Special thank you to Pedro, he gaves the best recommendation for trip around of Madeira. Big thank you to Ricardo Rodrigues for his attention!

I would say the area for improvement: to provide wi-fi in bungalow; to deversify the breakfast to add porridge, some vegetables.

Excellent food - best meals we had in Madeira were in the hotel restaurant (and we tried several of the restaurants that were supposed to be the best in Funchal)

A long climb from Funchal - even in a car!

The location and the villa which was excellent.

Safety of the small paths parts of which were unlit and could be dangerous for mature couples like ourselves!

The location is stunning and the service and attitude of all the staff was excellent. Choupana Hills has a beautiful relaxing feel, fantastic views and only 10 mins for Funchal

Resort needs a little TLC. Beautiful when first designed but in need of some refurbishment in the spa area and freshening up to keep it to its original level

An oasis of idylic luxury where the staff are wonderfully polite, attentive and friendly and the views over Funchall are breath taking. Food choice and taste is also varied, beautifully presented and a pleasure on the palate.

Having to pay for tea and coffee provided as part of the mini-bar system in our rooms.

An exceptionally relaxing place to stay. Superb staff and excellent restaurant. Altogether 5*. We will recommend this place to everyone. A real find.

I loved the atmosfare, the beauty surrounding the hotel and the feeling of bliss every morning as the sun came up.

My bed was a little bit hard.

We liked the high standard of accomodation, very comfortable and well designed, with all those 'little things' that had been thought about and provided. All the staff were extremely helpful, freindly and very polite. We wish to thank everyone for making our stay at Choupana very enjoyable.

Specious rooms, wonderful views over the bay of Funchal, lots of greenery.

Bad service during breakfast. When restaurant is full waiters can't handle all the orders (once waited for the boiled eggs and tea for over 20 minutes) - some dishes are served a la carte.

A fantastic stay. We stayed for the second time this year. Extremely friendly personnel. A new chef cock with a different Menu but still excellent! This the Ideal hotel in Madeira for people wanting to relax and a Hotel with an ideal location to walk the different Levada'S.

There was a change of Director since the last time. Some freebies have disappeared but this does not take away that the staff is still extremely friendly. The previous Director came every day checking if clients were satisfied. We missed that service.

For relaxation, the location is perfect. The rooms with veranda were great for getting away from it all. The hotel facilities were all you would need and the staff very helpful. A great place to stay, and if you want to get out and see more of the island, it's just a short drive or taxi ride
