CS São Rafael Atlantic Hotel  

The staff are the jewel in the Rafael Atlantic crown, friendly and helpful with some familiar faces from other hotels in the chain. Food in the a la carte restaurant can be excellent with reasonably priced good wines to compliment.

Additional high visibility security was unexpected but not troubling. The cost to swim in the indoor pool is €15, it is free in the Rafael Suites, which I consider to be a better hotel. It seems that some guests used the pool only without cost, but we were charged. Food is generally good with days when it was poor (cold breakfast). I suggest that Atlantic is 4 stars and must try harder to retain 5!

We love its location!! The hotel is next to one of beautiful beaches in Portugal. One that is private and not too touristic. We also love the hotel for the facilities, it has 3 outdoor swimming pools, and 1 indoor pool. The room was fabulous! We had the one viewing the Atlantic ocean. It has balcony, bright and modern. Another best thing about this hotel is the breakfast! It's the best breakfast there is :) Will definitely come back!

We stayed there in March, categorized as low season. Therefore the hotel only have 1 small bar/restaurant opens from 5 restaurants the hotel has. The menu is very limited. Even though limited, the quality is very good. We would enjoy it more if all the restaurants are open but this did not make our stay less enjoyable. There were still many things to enjoy.

Our second stay here. The hotel is fantastic with an excellent breakfast buffet and superb restaurant for the evenings. I also used the gym facility which is good for a holiday work out Excellent value for money at this time of year ( March ) and the sun shone as well! One of our favourite hotels in the world!

Hotel is the best I have stayed in. Atlantic Sea View room was gorgeous,with amazing views over the gardens towards the sea.Bed was huge and comfy,shower was amazing.Minibar fridge was handy!!! Only 2 of the 6 restaurants were open in March,but the food was 5 star quality and service.Breakfast was unbelievable, so much fresh, cooked food!!! Indoor pool and spa were great,so clean,and modern,and quiet!!! The champagne and chocolate strawberries in the room were the icing on the cake! The beach is also beautiful and quiet.Staff were excellent. We cant wait to return.

Unfortunately the beach bar,and piano bar were closed (but it was low season),as they looked gorgeous. Its 7 euro for a taxi to old town,but there are a few restaurants within walking distance. These arent complaints tho,as we wanted peace and quiet!!!

The dinner was excelent! Even for 5 star hotel such level of cousine was a nice surprise.

You need to use cap in the spa and pool.

The buffet in the evening was bad. Food cold and not much of a variety. Did not want to use it again.

Stayed at the São Rafael Atlantic Hotel for 3 days over Christmas. A great hotel if you don't want to be next to the bustle of Albufeira. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel but if you are looking for more nightlife then you'll definitely need to get a taxi into Albufeira. Car hire is recommended for getting out and about. The spa is fantastic as are the grounds around the hotel. There is a wooden walkway from the hotel down to a great beach cove. Highly recommended all round.

This was a great hotel; we loved the design, the friendly service, and it was a pleasure to have dinner in the restaurant

The closest city Albufeira is not a nice place to go to, totally spoiled by English style tourism (all-day loud football noise in the streets! Etc...)

Based upon my profound experience CS Sao Rafael Atlantic Hotel seems to be best & most you can expect from the top notch 5 stars hotel & spa located at one of the most beautiful beach in Portugal.

The staff were very friendly, the views were terrfic and the beach that was five minutes walk away was perfect.

Some minor buidling work going on that will be finished shortly.
