We had a room (upgraded to a suite) overlooking the square. The welcome was friendly and helpful. Any questions we had were answered fully. Would happily stay there again.
Nothing that we disliked.
Room was perfect, clean and stylish.
No lamp at the desk, and wifi was average.
Location, building, staff efficiency, decor, wi-fi availability
Wi-fi connection quality (as usual is not very good)
Very nice breakfast, great location, very nice rooms decorated with a very good taste and very soundproof.
The very loud and hyperactive churchbells outside going off every few minutes in the morning.
We booked the junior suite as we thought a little more room would be great with a toddler running around - and we were delighted. The view over the square was fantastic. The room was brilliant and spacious with a sparkling clean large bathroom. Couldn't fault it. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was varied and tasty. The concierge was also very helpful in suggesting a good local restaurant. We had dined in the hotel's restaurant the previous evening - very nice and excellent service, but we wanted some a little more relaxed with a toddler!
Rooms were extremely spacious and lovely. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. All in all a top experience.
Excellent location to access tourist spots and restaurants on foot, good breakfast.
Very dark rooms with bare walls, stiff sofa bed. No direct access to the hotel by car--had to get parking permit note at the hotel before being allowed into the street parking space is reserved (book in advance) for hotel guests.
- Room - Big TV - Nice Bathroom - Soundproofing (from exterior)
- The service was awful and waiters were rude; - Only one waiter during breakfast to set up the tables and "restock" the breakfast buffet (waited around 25 minutes to have the table ready); - First day, the waiter completely ignored my table and proceeded to set up empty tables leaving mine for last; - I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the price is too high for the service they offer;
Location was excellent as was staff especially front desk (Fernando, I think). Comfy beds and a good TV. Restaurant was fine too (some portions were quite small though). Breakfast was also fine with fresh orange juice.
I did not like to colour-theme of the hotel. A dreadfull grey-brownish colour everywhere. I suggest to paint most walls white and keep the other colour for contrast. Rooms were dark and lightning was not sufficient. Booked parking thorugh Booking.com, but did not receive any information on where to park (small street in roundabout with chain).
Location was brilliant Food excellent A very cool hotel in the heart of this ancient city
Room was gorgeous, view over square was lovely. Plenty of space and light and airy.
Restaurant - we had a meal where one of the main courses had to be sent back.
Superb location Great breakfast Good restaurant for dinner Attractive decor
I particularly appreciated the attentive assistance of the staff at reception. This, together with the comfort of the room, made it an enjoyable stay for us.
Location in center of historic town. Exceptional service by hotel staff: called taxis and even picked up bus tickets for us. Our suite overlooking the square was very quiet even with tourists and diners in the square and effective air conditioning.
That Guimaraes is so far from California.
leaving. bed comfortable, shower good location. Forna da Vila pasta and pizza restaurant nearby - excellent
tense, unfriendly, passive-aggressive attitude of receptionist. Having to press the door bell to gain entry every time we went out. virtual darkness in bathroom and room so can't read, put on make up. noisy bottle bin and rubbish underneath window in alleyway, where we watched one of the bin men going through the paper looking for ..what? mosquitoes. difficult to find using gps as it's not a driveable street, but not on a map
Location was excellent. Lovely bathroom.
Breakfast - coffee, hot milk etc kept in flasks but were cold. Nothing is replaced so if you don't get there early the fruit, cereal etc is gone. We came down at before 9am every morning but never got rashers - they were always gone. Didn't like hearing every noise from the room next door - there is a big problem with sound proofing. Rooms and corridors are very dark - I was unable to read in the room.
location can't be beat, convenient parking
décor - This isn't something that usually matters to us, but the very muted taupe color scheme, with no accents to brighten it up, is dark and depressing.
The air con didn't work. It was set to heat only. The room was stifling so the windows had to stay open making the location then very noisy.
Location and design of rooms.
Would like to have more lights in bedrooms - quite dark.
Fantastic find right in the heart of the old city walls a real gem ! Great and friendly staff, wonderful restaurant - all in all nothing negative to say about the place.
There was nothing at all we disliked.
Excellent city-centre location though it's impossible to find! Food good (though breakfast was a bit disappointing).
Why didn't we receive clearer directions to the hotel from them or from booking.com?
Quiet luxury in a wonderful town - it felt like living in a palace
Breakfast might have started earlier - 8 am is a little late if you are on business
The smell to fresh paint
At breakfast we had noone to receive us and the tables were not rapidly cleaned. There was a great contrast between breakfast service and restaurant service.
Quiet, big room, in the middle of the old town. Nice restaurant with good food.
Hard to find by car as the hotel is based in a 3 meter wide street. in the middle of the old town. Should be pointed out better.
