The location and the outside seating terrace. The only thing that I would recomend is to have more vending machines and have an ice machine available. It would have been nice to have access to one. Longer breakfeast hours and a better toaster. It took to long to toast your bread. Fresh coffee. I thought it was nice to order coffee and not get it from a machine.

Great staff, everyone incredibly helpful and friendly. We arrived just after 10.00 in the morning and we asked if we could drop our bags off until we were supposed to check in at 2.00. The Receptionist was brilliant, she checked if the room had been cleaned and it had so she gave us the room key straight away - what a great way for us to start the holiday. This customer service was typical of how they responded to guests. We paid extra for a superior room with a sea view & balcony, & this was a good move. The room was excellent, the views to die for and the bathroom was stunning. I think the shower was the best of any hotel we had stayed in.The hotel is on a great place on the prom which at this point is traffic free. The breakfasts were good with a variety of things to eat. The only thing we didn't like was the Nescafe Coffee machine which produced a sweet & frothy coffee, which was not to our taste. If we were staying for longer we would have bought a small jar of instant coffee. A good quality 3* hotel.

Just such excellent value - clean, comfortable room, excellent shower room, great breakfast included and right opposite the lovely beach. There are good restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance. The bus station is also close by, giving access to the rest of the country.

Lovely rooms with great seaside views in a quite area close to the more expensive town of Vilamoura. Other restaurants close by. Great location on the flat for mature people with walking difficulties.

Very nice clean hotel - excellent location - on the beach -close to restaurants, shops etc. Great value - even for single occupancy, - good breakfast especially fresh fruit - Food was average but discovered nice restaurants close by and the beach cafes very good. Lighting in the bedroom was poor for reading.

The location was right at the beach and a lovely location. The pool was a bit small but with the sea so close the pool never got crowded. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms and all the hotel were kept clean at all times. I stayed five nights and two nights I had cockroaches in my room. I could not see where they came from and the room was kept tidy. I only notified them when I was leaving. The manager apologised for this. As I was on my own (but meeting up with friends) I had requested a Delux room with a sea view.....but I did not get this, The room had no balcony and the sun never shone in. Room was small if two people were staying in it.

Having stayed at the hotel before when only one floor had been refurbished it was a pleasure to find the whole hotel had been refurbished in a pleasing and tasteful manner. The hotel was fresh and good standard for a 3 star hotel - well located for Quarteira and the beach At breakfast there is only one toaster which works very slowly and hence creates a big build up of guests waiting to get toast as the machine also needs two passages of bread to get brown. Also tea and coffee is dispensed from two machines and due to the vareity of options makes the process of getting hot drinkls very slow when the dining room is busy.

Good position right on the sea front, hotel modern Although the rooms were excellently finished I would say the doubles are too small for 2 people. I stayed on my own and therfore they were acceptable in size for a single person but would be too claustrophobic for 2 people

Good Sea View at a cost!!! It has 3* decoration as has been recently refurbished except the canteen (cannot call it a restaurant when there is no service and drinks are from a machine). The rest of the hotel borders on 2* if you are lucky. Most of the staff look miserable and are not at all helpful. All service is slow, breakfast, bar and reception. No fridge in room for cold drinks and no tea/coffee facilities. No room service so impossible to get a coffee after bar has closed, next available drink from a machine at breakfast. Very small pool and you can only get a lounger if you put a towel out before breakfast. No information at Reception on local places to go which is needed as nothing happening in Quarteira. Reception staff only interested in taking money and not providing a service, which sums up the whole hotel really.

When we booked Hotel Dom Jose in June we booked a 'Super Deluxe room overlooking the sea' when we arrived we were given a room which had not been re-furbished and appeared to be a 'Family Room' we went to reception and told them that the room was unacceptable that the room we booked we thought was the one that was in the brochure photos and there are only three of these rooms, we were informed they had 20 something deluxe rooms and we weren't going to accept this room. The owner came to see us and all he could do was give us one of these rooms on the Sunday, we were there on the Friday. That was totally acceptable to us and we stayed in one of their lovely beach front rooms. Thank you to the staff and owner of Hotel Dom Jose for a fabulous and relaxing week. Breakfast was lovely with a buffet of a great selection of hot and cold food. The staff very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to friends. There was no kettle and tea facilities in the room, that would definitely be better. In the information about the rooms it needs to be known that not all the rooms have been re-furbished. The pool needs to be seriously looked at as I'm not a strong swimmer I couldn't go in as it went from 3' (1 metre) to 9' (2.8 metres) in a short space and sloped very suddenly and very slippery, I slipped and apparently the day before a lady had almost drowned as she walked down the pool and floor just disappeared. Also the doors to the rooms couldn't be shut quietly so everyone slamming doors all day and night.

Proxomity to beach. Cleanliness everywhere. Only thing that did not reeach maximum standards was bed. Did not find comfortable. Staff could not have been pleasenter. Also nearly broke my foot coming out of hotel on to boardwalk when I turned into extension of wheelchair ramp. Otherwise had a lovely holiday.

We came becaue it was close to the beach, we normally stay in an apartment. But for a change chose the hotel and it was it clean friendly and confortable. Woud definatley reccoment it. Although breakfast was included and very nice. We went down to try the evening meal, but unfortunatley when we went in, we came straight back out becausethere was hardley any food there and the dishes were empty it was only 8.15 we did not try again but ate on the verander bar meals they were good.
