Duas Torres  

We have stayed at the hotel for the last 2 years and found it very good except for the beds which we found to be very hard ,we would definatly come back to the Duas Torres if we were supplied with a softer mattress The staff were very nice & polite but it would have been very nice if somone on checkout could have said (did you have a nice time etc ) but there was nothing (no goodbye or safe journey home but nothing but a blank stare and a false smile. yours sincerly Mr Derek Stewart

Very pleasant hotel and staff good value ideal kithcenette facilities just what I wanted to get away to relax. Good restaurant if you want to treat yourself.

Good size bedroom. Enough dishware in the kitchenette. Cleaning of bedrooms done every day between 10am and 5pm (beds done, towels changed and dishes washed). I would recommend this hotel if traveling with a small budget, needing a kitchenette mostly for feeding baby/young children but also to cook almost any stove/microwave meal.

The bathroom ceiling was badly damaged due to previous water infiltration(s). Something could be done about the window frames. They look very old as they're made of wood, painted white, but the paint is coming off all over - and the glass is so thin that the noise from the street below (we were on the 6th floor) could be heard in the room as if we had a window open, but we didn't. Dust was piling up on some places like kitchenette, window frames and under the bed. Having sneezed a few times while in the bedroom, I can certainly point my finger to this home dust, as while outside I didn't sneeze at all (no pollen).

Excellent location for a shopping centre (kitchenette in room) and for the bus to/from the airport. Also directly overlooking the sea. Our "side, half view" balcony had almost a full sea view as the hotel is on a spur. Very nice pool overlooking the sea with a reasonably priced snack bar/bar.

Quite a way from the centre of Funchal (40 min walk). But plenty of buses with a stop right outside the hotel. Room clean, but rather "tired", so not very welcoming. And the hot plates had worn out indicators so it took a while to realise max was not in the usual position!

The hotel staff were all very welcoming, the room we were given had a fantastic view and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday, we had clean towels and the room cleaned every day. Enjoyed our stay.

Breakfast-every day the same things,just across the street there is a shopping center where you could have coffee and various choices to eat;the old lady at breakfast was rude.

Excellent quality price deal. We loved the location and the room has everything that you need in. Shame we could not stay longer.

Rooms are very large and equipped with all necessary including the kitchen, big balcony, ocean view, wi-fi in public area, near the bus stop and the big shopping center Forum Madeira

Great view of the ocean, the kitchenette (stove-top, small refrigerator, and microwave) was nice to have. Nice size room and balcony to sit. For 42 euros a night you can't beat it. The airport bus stops right in front of the hotel so for 5 euros each you can get back and forth (it runs about once an hour) They also have many different public busses that go into Funchal for about 2 euros each. (about 15 min) The red/yellow double decker tour busses also stop at this bus stop. The front desk does speak basic English and are very happy to help. Don't pay the 5.50 euro for breakfast, there is a great coffee/pastry shop across the street you can get a coffee and sweet pastry/doughnut for 2 euros and change. There is also a great grocery store where we bought stuff for sandwiches that saved on our lunch bill. It's in the mall across the street (Pingo Doce is the name of the store)

Not a 3 * hotel, much more of a 2*. The beds in the twin room cannot be pushed together to make a king. They are on the hard side, but not completely uncomfortable. TV is in the kitchenette/living room and is small. The couch is not comfortable to watch tv/snuggle with wife. Don't take the airport bus is you're scared of crazy drivers who fly around hairpin turns (we feared for our life a few times). Not within walking distance of town- it would have been more than an hour walk. (it costs about 8 euros to get back in a taxi)

Location was surprisingly good,since although it was at far western side of Funchal,it was on a main bus route,near a modern shopping complex,and with easy access to attractive promenade walk.No traffic noise,excellent large pool;large,well equipped studio-apartment at very reasonable cost.
