The house is so beautiful and the garden around the hotel is perfect. We also enjoyed the great breakfast.

From the hotel to the city center of funchal you have to take the hotel shuttle bus (multiple rides per day) or a taxi (5 euro per ride). So it's not really a problem.

Location, room layout and gardens. Pretty pool area.

Ancient airconditioning system that is either on or off, no temperature control. Lack of attention to detail by staff - erratic. Eye watering prices for food and drink and lack of light meals in the evening.

Set in gardens more beautiful than the Botanical Gardens. Restaurant is one of the best on the island. Excellent service. Attractive buildings.

A lovely relaxing peaceful haven, with excellent staff, good food and a home from home ambience. Fellow guests all friendly and good company. The location made seeing the New Years Eve fireworks display spectacular, and the mini-bus service into the town enabled frequent visits into Funchal possible,for those who wished to use it. My husband had an accident which needed hospital treatment, and the help afforded by the hotel staff, taking is to Casualty took away the trauma such events in foreign countries cause. We hope to go back next year.

Swimming pool was rather cold.

Beautiful historic building set in wonderful gardens. We , stayed in a junior suite in the old part of the hotel , the room was large with a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens, bathrooms and furnishings would benefit from some updating to make it really great. Staff throughout were excellent , really helpful and friendly. Everywhere was very clean and well kept in the hotel and also the gardens, very peaceful and quiet area so you may need a car or use taxis to get around. We didnt eat in the restaurant but the food at the pool was very good and not too expensive .

Bed was a bit hard , but when we mentioned it they immediately put an extra topper on which really helped, plumbing in the old part is a bit noisy but thats the charm of an old property!

Quiet, relaxing yet close to funchal old town. Beautiful gardens & pool. Friendly staff who were always helpful & courteous. Perfect place for a romantic getaway or get together with a group of friends.

Main restaurant food was nice but would have been good to change the menu every third day or at least have specials of the day to allow for variety.

This hotel is not easy to find from the freeway so you need clearer directions. When you get there the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and stayed that way through the whole stay. The gardens are outstanding as is the pool area, the busy Funchal streets could be a million miles away. However it is only a 10-15 minute walk to some of the best restaurants in the city with 5 euro cab ride back in the late evening. The hotel staff had great recommendations for these.

The location although beautiful is very hilly ( it is Madeira). They have no good english tea and have little idea how to poach eggs. The prices for evening meals are well above those of the local restaurants of similar quality, but still good.

Peace and tranquility. Most helpful reception staff. No children while we were there. Excellent pool. Pleasant service. Small enough hotel to be made to feel special, rather than a number passing through. Beautiful gardens in a quiet location close enough to walk to town (but not back - too steep!). Upgraded to large suite on arrival - a great start.

Bel établissement authentique au luxe discret, atmosphère très agréable et reposante, calme, confort, magnifique jardin avec piscine parfaitement intégrée dans la végétation luxuriante.Le personnel est toujours disponible.La situation à Funchal est bonne;l'accès est aisée et rapide ,par l'autoroute,si on souhaite profiter des magnifiques randonnées de Levadas de Madère ou se rendre à pied au centre ville en 15 mn environ.(mais il conviendrait d'indiquer l'accès sur le site internet). Une excellente adresse à Madère.

Schönes gepflegtes Hotel. Gute Lage, sehr zentral. Grosse gepflegte Park- und Poolanlage. Sehr ruhig und doch mitten in der Stadt. Vorallem für Pensionäre sehr gut geeignet. Kleines Angebot an buchbaren Ausflügen an der Reception ebenso bezügl. Mietwagen. Wenige Infos über Stadt, Sehenswürdigkeiten an der Reception. Freundliche Receptionsmitarbeiter. Klimaanlage im Zimmer zu laut.

Frühstücksbuffet sehr eintönig, jeden Morgen dasselbe, kleine Auswahl an Fleisch und Käse. Buffet wurde nicht regelmässig aufgefüllt wenn viel los war. Badezimmer relativ dunkel. Schlechter Föhn. Muffiger Duschvorhang. Das Zimmer wurde teilweise nur oberflächlich geputzt. Täglicher Shuttle in die Stadt wird nicht regelmässig bzw. zuwenig angeboten. Weg zu Fuss in die Altstadt von grossem Verkehrsaufkommen begleitet.
