It was conveniently located to the place at which the meeting I was attending was held.

Although we were given a large room, the bed itself was uncomfortably small for 2 adults (of average proportions!).There was a bad smell (stale body odour?) in the elevator which was a most unpleasant greeting. As our room was situated near to the elevator door, we were awakened numerous times during the night by inconsiderate fellow guests returning noisily to their beds in the late hours of the night. The breakfast buffet lacked imagination.The absence of a restaurant in the hotel itself necessitated a walk to the sister hotel nearby for an early dinner on our first day - where we were served an atrocious microwaved meal. Our fault for being tired & hungry!

Hotel Fenix Porto has the largest rooms you will find in any hotel, they are extremely well maintained, clean, and the floors and walls do not vibrate and are very well sound insulated. The room entrance and bathroom are all done in tasteful marble, and the water pressure more akin to a waterfall, fantastic. Breakfast was a fantastic buffet, with everything from fruit, yogurts, toast, bacon, eggs, cerials, juices, coffee, tea, cheese etc. I needed an extra pillow and the air conditioning re-setting which was done very promptly. In my opinion, if you like city breaks, great local food with nearby restauraunts ( Restauraunt Rotunda da Boavista - fabulous) great staff and planty of space without feeling crammed into a tiny room with a great room rate, then this is the hotel to stay. Although not a 5 star, you deffinately get great value for money if booked on the internet.

I didn't like some of the guests!!!

I don't think that it would be possible to find such high quality hotel for this price. The room was huge, clean and very comfortable. I would go back to Portugal for two reasons: Cintra, which is an amazing city and this hotel, cheap but one of the best hotels ever.

I didn't like that I was there for just one day

Service was good, our room was upgrated to a suite. Room was huge, clean and had a big screen TV with a variety of english channels.

Check in was late. Our room was not ready until 3:30 PM

We likw the location and the hotel service

The staff where very friendly and extreamly helpful. The room was very clean and fresh with full service even on christmas day.

The breakfast was not what we expected from a four star hotel, the hot food was cold each morning and the coffee was not at all fresh or tasty. Four staff stood around each morning just waiting to do clearing of tables when I feel they could have given service to the tables by topping up frest tea/coffee etc.

- The staff was helpfull and eficient. - Rooms were of good size and clean. - Location within walking distance of the center (20 Min) and close to the metro station (5 Minutes)

- Minor malfunctions in the hotel's bathroom

We have stayed in several hotels in Porto and this is the best we've found & we look forward to staying again. The room was very spacious & well-laid-out. Breakfast was decent - we appreciated the fruit & cereals. Great location, walking distance from Casa da Musica with its cultural programmes (bit of a trudge with bags from the Metro though so we took a taxi to the airport from the stand across the street -around 15€) and lots of shops & restaurants in the area - a nice Buondi shop by the Albuquerque plaza where you can buy the coffee beans (a rarity) and even the food court in the adjacent shopping mall has a Brazilian Rodizio for 9 € !

We had some trouble connecting two computers to the wi-fi at the same time, though hotel staff said it was a problem with our computer configurations.... We could hear some sounds-talking etc -from nearby rooms which seemed odd for a 4. star hotel.
