The Grande Hotel do Porto is located downtown, right at the city centre, where it enables its guests to immediately taste Porto’s culture.

Monuments, churches, museums and theatres are all at walking distance. Charming and evocative of a long gone age, this is a carefully renovated relic of a hotel that is set on an all-pedestrian street with the densest collection of shops in central Porto.

The hotel has been radically renovated in 2002, and now it shows an appealing combination of the 1950s with Belle Époque accessories. It was originally built in 1880 in a five store "Grand Hotel" format, which is still visible in its late Victorian facade and the elaborate exterior details.

Food & beverage

The Renascença restaurant is located in a sort of ballroom, with a strong presence of the “Grand Hotel” heritage from late XIX century. It is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion and it offers a lovely romantic atmosphere for an intimate dinner and the necessary glamour to host big parties.

Room information

All the rooms are equipped with individual air-conditioning and each room has bathroom with a tub and shower combination, basic amenities and internet wireless.
Standard rooms are decorated with light oak furniture that contrasts with the blue carpets.
Superior rooms are located on the hotel’s top floor. They are decorated in brown and white tonalities, creating a modern atmosphere but with straight lines that fit into the classical style of the hotel. Besides the difference in decor, guests from the superior floor have, as complement to the standard room guests, different amenities, LCD and free wireless internet access.

Area information

Some of Porto’s main attractions are at walking distance from the hotel: S. Bento station, Clerigos Tower, City Hall, Stock Exchange Palace, S. Francisco Church, Cathedral, Ribeira, and the Port wine cellars.
The hotel is just a few steps away from the Bolhao metro station, 5 minutes walking from the S. Bento railway station and about 15km from the Francisco Sá Carneiro airport.

The location is very good.

There is free TV, free shower, free breakfast but no free internet. I'd prefer having a free Internet instead of a free TV. In general, it must be cheaper for a hotel to maintain internet access than to maintain a TV.

Great old-fashioned Grand Hotel style. Welcome to the age of serious travelling... Great location.

Small room, a lot of ventilator noise (not possible to open the window). I would pay 10 EUR more for a less elementary breakfast.

Convenient position of hotel

Complete misdescription of the room - a superior double room is simply too small to be called a 'superior' room. The staff asked about this defended the description on the basis the room had a double bed, but in fact to obtain a superior room you have to order a superior twin room. This is my 3rd stay at the hotel and my first disappointment with the establishment.
