Charming well run hotel. Le Grand breakfast included in a beautiful room. Central to all venues, excellent staff assistence

The hotel was very central with amazing decor and artifacts.Many reviewers likened it to being in a museum and that is very true. Breakfast was excellent as were the staff. It was perfect for a short city break due to its location and price. A gem in a magical city.

As befits this lovely old hotel you are not going to get state of the art bedrooms but nonetheless it had a wonderful faded charm. The bathrooms were basic, no luxury toiletries or even a hairdryer but adequate. No aircon either so imagine it could be stifling in the summer months.

Wonderful atmospheric hotel. Far more ambience and charachter than most five star hotels....and a breakfast choice to die for!

It had faded grandeur, like the rest of the old part of Porto. The hotel was very much in keeping with the feel of the whole city, a little run down, old fashioned. A hotel from anothe era.

The staff were a little cool and not overly friendly. This could, however, have been the language difference.

breakfast was very good bar could have a better choice and more stock 207 bathroom so small had to step into shower to shut door to get to toilet!!!!

This is the oldest hotel in Porto and whilst it has maintained much of its original furnishings and decor it feels as clean and fresh as it must have when it opened in 1877. If you would like to experience the feel of 19th century five star elegance - this is the place.

It is a very particular hotel... Its decoration is really unique!

I love the faded glory,the friendly staff, the breakfast, the cleanliness and the convenience. I did not like getting stuck in the bath which needs an anti slip mat and handles to get hold of. The bed which would suit when young was hard for someone used to multi-sprung. I hope to come again soon. Thank you.

A lovely hotel in an excellent location, many period features, lovely old furniture and artifacts. Our room faced the back of the hotel with views to Clerigos tower and Gaia, across the river. The breakfast buffet was excellent served in a lovely dining room. The location was very central, near many places of interest and train and metro stations.

The location was great, close to the metro and most attractions. The staff is wonderful and helped us so much. The breakfast was the beet hotel breakfast we've had in Europe.

We had ants in our room. Also, the rooms are not soundproof as advertised. We could hear everyone clearly, luckily the hotel wasn't busy.

It was clean, comfortable, well located. We had a room that was bright and airy with a balcony. Easy access by public transport to the airport and around the corner to the train station. The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous.

A truly wonderful hotel. The location is very convenient, the staff helpful and friendly, and a delicious breakfast, all for a very good price. The hotel also has a wonderfully interesting history, and there are plenty of beautiful features and photos adding to the hotel's charm. The only advice I would have is bring earplugs, the Portuguese party very late, and there is a lot of noise from the street outside.

As above, it is a bit noisy, but that is the price you pay for being in a central location... Travellers - bring earplugs!
