The staff from the very first moment made me feel like home. The hostel is sweet and small, and the 4 beds room is warm and clean. On arrival to the room you can find towels and carpets for your feet after showering (this is not an hostel norm, so I found it very special). The most touching moment when was the receptionist offered to leave me a breakfast before I left in 4 am to the airport. Seriously, perfect.
The staff are very kind and accommodating, the rooms are well equipped, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast is very good, quite simple but very fresh. Ideal location for Barro Alto bar area where all the nightlife seems to happen. We were a large group of men but had a lot of respect for the people and place due to how we were welcomed from the outset.
The local area is a little tired and is in need of investment, lots of graffiti everywhere but a great location to explore Lisbon.
Very cozy hoste, clean and with a great look. Great localization. Metro station just a few minutes away on foot. Near by you have a lot of restaurant options and a comercial area.
Wi-fi wasn't working 100%.
Like previous comments, the staff are incredibly helpful and very pleasant...our group was pretty large and quite boisterous at times but respected the place and the other residents and I think this was a reflection of being treated very kindly by the staff from the outset. The rooms are very large as are the bathrooms and spotlessly clean, the breakfast is simple but very effective!
It was our first visit to Lisbon and the Bairro Alto area has some beautiful places and history, loads of bars, excellent live music and a great nightlife. Sadly the area looks quite tired and scruffy in parts and graffiti is a big problem...its not art when its so widespread.
The staff were lovely, helpful and hard working. Lots of effort made with decor.
Drain smell in room, pillows smelled of sweaty heads laid upon them by too many, previous sleepers. It noisy from traffic on nearby main road, and other people returning late and clunking about. Not on main public transport route so access with luggage not easy.
The hostel is beautiful. The breakfast is excellent. The staff were so helpful and charming. The location is good for visiting Lisbon. There are plenty of restaurants near by.
The pillows were poor. Visitors need to be aware that this area is a clubbing area and be a bit noisy at times when pubs and clubs close.
the location is great the room is spacious and clean the staff is helpfull and friendly
the rooms are a bit noisy, i was really glad i had earplugs with me.
A great little hostel with very nicely decorated rooms, very quiet and the location Bairro Alto is a good starting point for sightseeing. Even the breakfast is good, although you should try the Pastellerias around which offer excellent coffee and sandwiches. The staff knows what to do, is really helpful and friendly. Once we were caught in the rain and came back soaking wet and they promptly offered to use the dryer.
Nothing important really, there could be a few more holders for towels.
Great location very close to plenty of bars and restaurants (we recommend Majong bar down the other end of the street for nice wine/cocktails/atmosphere) and there is a tram 28 stop just round the corner. We had the studio room which was great; clean, plenty of space, comfortable and enough facilities to make our own simple meal in the kitchenette. It doesn't come across as much of a party hostel so couldn't say how that would suit a solo travelller looking to make friends but the relaxed atmosphere suited us perfectly. We didn't have the breakfast but it looked really tasty and for a reasonable price. I would definitely stay here again, excellent value for money :-)
The kitchenette could have done with one or two items such as a sharp knife, a second bowl, tea towel, wooden spoon etc but these things were all available in the nearby communal kitchen so it really is a very minor point! Otherwise couldn't fault it :-)
Fantastic location, great staff who were very helpful and friendly, really well kept room, fantastic value for money. It was the perfect base to explore the city- close to the action but not noisy at all. A great little find which we'd definitely recommend to others.
nice hotel in the country
chickens outside my window, get rid of them!
bathrooms were very clean but sewage smell from the drains
Tasteful accommodation - good value for money - very central/downtown, on a typical cobblestone street - clean - helpful staff - bright and quiet. Great breakfast options, especially since I am gluten-free. Staff is amazing. Will be staying there again shortly when I return next week. I definitely recommend this sweet hostel.
Wifi in my room was not great, but reception was perfect in the computer room, where there is also a computer for guest's use (I had my own).
I had one of the private rooms (double bed with private bathroom). The rooms are well kept and arranged with great care for the details. The staff was also very kind.
The wifi works perfectly in the common spaces but i had no signal in my room. The walls ad door let the noise from the corridor in - hence the room was not silent, but still acceptable.
Close to Bairro alto, Chiado, yet on a quiet street Very friendly and helpful staff Our suite was very spacious
Not a real complaint, but the entrance is quite steep and narrow. If you arrive with a lot of stuff, it helps to have strong arms
Good location, marvelous buffet beaskfast, cleaning dorm room, friendly and helpful staff, bargain room rate
Location was very close to barrio alto, room was a good size and clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Very welcoming.
very helpful friendly staff, clean bathrooms, nice showers, good location in bairro alto near bars/sights, close to gay bars
noisy street that echoes ... probably similar everywhere in bairro alto though!
The location is great. This place is very nice, more like a hotel then a hostel. Very warm and friendly.
Just the little noise at night from road. Maybe a ceiling fan or fan in dorm room.
Great staff! Outstanding staff. Very nice hostel - so clean and new. Hardly any stairs! Good internet.
Too light in dorm room, street lights - needed window shut to keep out light and noise but it was too hot to shut it. Pillow was lumpy and thin. Nothing more to complain about as it was otherwise great.
Quaint guest house in an old quarter with interesting neighbourhood and nearby restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful and security good.
Good quality fittings in the shared bathrooms, but limited space for storage of towels and clothes while showering and drying yourself. Also a musty smell in the bathroom/toilet area (probably lack of ventilation.
location, food, staff, room
Central location Decor Helpful staff
Very nice room, good breakfast, convenient location
We loved the owners' hospitality, they were all very helpful and friendly and gave us lots of information about Lisboa. The kitchen is very well-equiped, and the dining room is cosy. Our bedroom was like a little suite, so big it was! Thank you for the lovely stay ! Jasper & Sylvia
The walls were a little thin, because we were sleeping next to the kitchen.
