The location is excellent, the staff quite helpful, and the building is very nice. There is a bar at the back of the hotel, so that it may be noisy late at night.

The hotel was built in purpose built in1905 and completely modernised in 2004, it is extremely central, and clean, with the normal european cold buffet breakfast, and a good retaurant for dinner... it does not do coach tours but had European and American private travellers... the decor in the public areas is interesting as is the layout, the rooms are adaquate all double and ensuite though some are a bit on the small side... Recommended

Location and dinner was good, breakfast was ok. We had a rear room with no outlook in order to get a quiet room Room at rear while quite had a very poor outlook into an internal yard which meant we had to have lights on while in the room. Breakfast was also very basic and dissappointing particularly compared to diner which was very good

The bar/reception staff took particular care to give us exactly what we wanted, even to the point of going out to buy fresh oranges to make us fresh fruit juice! You might say they should have had it already, but they still took the trouble. The location of the hotel was excellent and very central for absolutely everything. The air conditioning worked and was essential, even in May! The beds were clean and very comfortable. The room was a little 'knocked about', with some unrepaired damage to the walls and strips of veneer hanging off the furniture. The bathroom was verging on 'tacky' because of the use (some time ago!) of mastic filler to try and prevent water leaking out onto the floor etc. The towels were old and well used! At breakfast the fresh fruit juice machine was filled with orange squash!

The bar next to the hotel makes good cuba music, you can listen from your room. -Poor location, not so close to metro. The heart of Porto city is nearby the river. - Linens were dirty, also pillows were bad. - Bathroom was dirty. - Hotel staff were unfirendly. ı deffinetly do not suggest this hotel.

Staff were very friendly and all seem to speak English, French & German, one Receptionist/Barman spoke English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian & Hungarian! Impressive! Food in the restaurant was very good. Location is excellent, near the Town Hall, 10 minutes walk from everything. The street below our window was very noisy throughout the night so never got a proper nights sleep, pillows were very uncomfortable and room was quite dated
