The location between the city and the sea is perfect. The service and friendlyness of the staff is outstanding and an example for any other larger hotel. Highly recommended hotel for both leisure and business travel
Nice rooftop bar with a young crowd.
The hotel is in a poor location. Beggars in the street outside. Lots of empty shops and houses. No restaurants within walking distance. Far away from old city.
Everything was ok. Best thing about this hotel is beds!!! Slept like in heaven!! Mattress was just excellent!
Staff wasnt very friendly and smiley. Also between each other spoken they own language what makes us feel uncomfortable. Not very helpull and we felt like they were treating people by their looks.
the pool, the breakfast, the room
the neighborhood of the hotel at night
We were very glad with everything! Strongly reccomend this hotel.
breakfast excellent,staff good,bed very comfortable,
Location as not great for walking (surrounding area run down) no tea or coffee making facilities no iron
Wonderful hotel! Professional and welcoming staff, clean, high standard, very nice breakfast. Wonderful view from the roof where the swimming pool is. The hotel is not inte city center but it’s a nice walk by the river that takes top 45 minutes. Or take the tram
The bed The breakfast Some good restaurants in walking distance The squash court
Smell of smoke in a noen smoking room Had to take taxi to the center (but did not cost much)
The Swimming Pool was the reason we booked this hotel. But - No one was there serving beers. No Towels were available. The Pool had no sun The other guests were rude.
Second time in this hotel and I have no regrets...it's a gorgeous hotel and the staff we're very professional and friendly! Absolutely love this hotel and I recommend it 100%
Friendly staff. Nice location.
The swimming pool at the top of the building has a very interesting view but the size is quite small without much space to walk around, have a sit or lay down... The water is cold and when we got there we didn't have any towels left to use...
It was on convenient and inexpensive bus routes to the conference I was attending, and a short walk from the Douro and the riverbank tram ride into the centre. I ordered a shuttle bus to the airport which arrived before time. The staff at all levels were courteous and helpful. It was clean and comfortable. The food was cheap and well cooked/presented. The breakfast buffet is to be particularly recommended, as it clearly, successfully caters to a wide range of tastes and cultural/social practices. The wide range of local breads are especially tasty.
Although the food was perfectly acceptable, the dinner menu was very limited and the items a bit bland, which did not adequately represent the possibilities of Portuguese cuisine, particularly the arab influences in terms of spiciness, and also the use of seafood other than cod or prawns. This might, however be a plus point for people who do not like spicy food, or who do not like the sardines, octopus etc. with which traditional Portuguese cuisine abounds. After all, culinary adventures may be found outside the hotel.
- Breakfast & buffet - Very clean - Helpful and informative staff
Room locition, under swimming pool/night club, very noisy up to early morning some nights. Room size, definayely not executive size. Breakfast very poor choice, mushy slop called scrambled eggs, water for tea medium hot to cold. Extreemly dissapointed with the whole place.
Great mattresses, nice room, good food, excellent roof top bar with live music on Wednesdays.
Rooms appear to not have soundproofing, so we were woken up early every morning. Only a problem for light sleepers though.
Friendly staff, great room for a great price
Kettle in the room would have been nice but not a problem
Drink voucher not clear & not always manned
Very comfortable beds Staff very friendly Breakfast excellent choice
No Wi-Fi in rooms - only in reception Location ok although a 15 Euro taxi ride to Porto centre or a 10 min walk and then bus/ tram
Position between beach and old town meant we walked each day and saw both- definitely worth doing. Really friendly Portuegese people. Lovely big bed. Nice room. Tasty breakfast. A few nice beach bars (30 min walk). Lovely walks by beach. The water was absolutely teeming with fish. Port tasting. Would definitely return to Porto- but probably not to this hotel.
The immediate area around the hotel isn't very nice- certain bits felt a little dodgy when we wandered off the main streets. But we didn't actually encounter any problems. To hang out you had to take a good walk or jump in a cab (remarkably cheap). The roof top pool is really small. The staff weren't the cheeriest.
Reception is sumptuous, and room is comfortable (even though bit small). Hotel is very well furbished and very clean. Breakfast is wonderful. Reception staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. The roof pool is a great touch to laze around in the sun and chill out, with amazing views over the beach. I've stayed in Hotel Fenix previously which is 4* and I preferred it there (but no pool), the area is better and rooms bigger.
Location is in poor district with people begging outside, there is obviously a local drug problem. Cars broken into and not safe to walk about but taxi rank outside. No hotel security. Pool disco noise was unacceptable until 3am. Bar closed early so couldn't have a drink after dinner, and bar staff had attitudes even being sarcastic. And lets not forget that wifi didn't work in our room, nor my friends' room.
Good price for a 5 start hotel
Very poor wifi, the only place with fair signal was in the lobby. The non smoking room was smelling a bit. I could hear some noise from the other rooms and the corridor.
