Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel    

Excellent facilities for children, child corners everywhere. Location is far away from the any urbanization. St. Vincent cap is 20 min by car. There were almost nobody without children. Very friendly for small children.

It is hard to get there from St. Petersburg.

It is very comfortable for the family to stay. The resort have all facility for the children, even little baby. The beach is accessible and has a nice view.

Beautiful villa with everything you need for a holiday provided and on-hand. The provision of lovely toiletries was an added bonus, no need to take your own! Staff were all very helpful and very friendly. Lots of activities to keep our children amused.

Excellent set up for kids and attention to detail for families e.g. having someone from the kids club in the restaurant in the evening to keep kids occupied

We thought that the price of the the food in O Terraco didn't necessarily equate to the quality. Over €110 for a buffet meal without a bottle of wine

Good apartment, free upgrade offered & accepted. Good childcare facilities for our 2 yo son both during the day (Kids Club available am and/or pm + babysitting available at night as well).

The weather & one of the restaurants was closed during our stay.

Nothing we didnt like but our 3 recommendations for improvement would be: 1 - Be good to have the option of someone to cook for you in your villa, especially with young children who go to bed early. 2 - The park needs to have more than just 2 swings and a climbing frame. As a resort geared towards children, some of the child facilites (although new and sparkly) were a bit sparse. 3 - The toy box we asked for with the villa had only 3 toys in it. I dont mind this but was expecting much more. If had known then we would have brought more toys with us for the rainy days we had.

The hotel room was spectacular and comfy, with a beautiful view on the Ocean. The staff was very nice, and we even had a birthday surprise. My girlfriend loved the spa. We travel a lot and this is one of the best places we stayed ever.

The breakfast was awesome, but the same can't be said about the other meals at the Dunas restaurant. We went to the city of Sagres for dinner as it's much cheaper and tastier.

The facilities are great. We loved the 4 pools and the lovely beach. The staff was very friendly. Everyting was perfect. Martihal is the best place for relaxing but also the sport possibilities are great.

Stunningly designed hotels and houses around fantastic resort on some of the best beaches in Europe. Brilliant for super released luxury holiday for families - lots of options and choices. Discreet as you like. Our house Conran designed - cool furniture, great views - amazing!

Superb beach and views from the O'Terraco restaurant. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food. Also really liked the swimming pool areas, especially the beach front one with the baby pool.

Although the children's menu was comprehensive we felt it would have been better to have different menus in the different restaurants, thus offering more variety, ie more fish options in the As Dunas Fish Restaurant. We stayed in the Villa Mimosa, which was excellent however the walk to the restaurant for breakfast with small children was very tiring. It would be better to have had a choice of where we could have had breakfast, ie the Italian restaurant in the Village square would have been a lot closer.

Located in a wonderful place (Ocean is there, out of the window, and you can hear it during the night ... ), on the top of a reef, with direct access to the beach (few steps). Hotel rooms are well soundproofed, very comfortable and clean with access to a common garden or a terrace (two levels). Some typical 5 stars service is available. Restaurant is quite good at a reasonable price, but service at restaurant is not refined enough as could be expected. In conclusion: very good hotel in a really wonderful and unique place but price should be lower giving that some degree of completeness of service and exclusiveness you can expect from the hotel level and price are missing.

On the wonderful beach, sits and umbrellas have to be paid apart, directly to the guys. Somebody could expect that some services on the beach are included in the room price (at that price!) but they are not. On the other side, swimming pool sits are not sufficient when hotel is fully booked (we were not able to find a place in the swimming pool area). SPA and covered swimming pool are shared by the hotel with the near residence (part of the same organization). Access to a PC workstation is only present (for free) in the game-room of the near residence, where young boys and girls play. We suggest the hotel staff to find a solution to offer hotel services on the beach too. This would have improved our final evaluation near to the excellence.

The staff and facilities are excellent. They'll bend over backwards to help you with any problems or issues. Extremely family friendly. Excellent place for families with small children. The breakfast is fantastic and is included when staying in the hotel part of the resort.

Extremely expensive food at the resort. If you're in the hotel part of the resort, you'll want to eat in the town (Sagres) often. Excellent restaurants there and very reasonable. Our favorite is A Cazinha...fantastic!

Well designed and maintained complex of flats

Unfortunately, the pricing is more akin to a five star all-inclusive than to a five star self catering appartment. The pricing of on-site dining and entertainment also felt at odds to what you pay for similar quality in Portugal.

I stayed at a beach room and it was awesome. Great bedroom and nice view. The hotel is expensive but some of the things you usually have to pay are included, such as the consumption of the mini bar. Good breakfast also.

Had a great weekend at Martinhal Beach Resort. The ocean suite had a great view and was beautifully decorated. Room was very comfortable and I had no complaints regarding my privacy. Staff was extremely friendly and allways available to make sure all our needs were met. There are indeed a lot of kids running around the swimming pool... it is a family oriented hotel, but we - a young couple - were still able to find a lot of quiet and enjoyable spots.

Pitty about the price. It is very expensive, at least for my pocket.

The Restaurants within the complex were excellent and very child friendly. My only tip is check the price of the fish when it states 'market price' on the menu as we paid 96 euro for lobster which was a big surprise. The facilities are first class and so very clean and the staff are extremely friendly. This resort is very well equipped for keeping young childrens entertained as it has a playground, numerous pools, the beach a short walk and childrns clubs ans activities.

It is hard to find anything negative to say about the Martinhal complex but we were disappointed that the pools were not warm. Infact the outdoor pools were freezing even though they said they were heated. The indoor pool was also quite cold and our 15 month old could only stay in it for approx 10-15 mins before he started to shiver. We were there at the start of April so maybe it was because it was low season? Apart from that the place is fabulous.
