In a historic building of central Funchal, Monte Carlo features a large elevated terrace and roof-top pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is located only 165 ft from the Cruzes Museum. Rooms at Hotel Monte Carlo are equipped with cable TV channels and private bathrooms. Some open out on to a French balcony with stunning views of the city and the ocean, others provide a kitchen with dining area. The in-house restaurant looks out on to the mountains and serves rich local cuisine and regional wines. In the mornings, the hotel serves a buffet breakfast prepared with fresh ingredients. Guests can relax in the solarium, or enjoy the game room. Other facilities include babysitting and laundry services. The hotel offers a great view over Madeira from the breakfast room. In the sunny days it's great to catch a table near the window and feel the early sun rays on your face. The orange juice could be better, but it's ok. The staff was excellent. Before our last night the guy at the reception desk was kind enough to ask if we were leaving at dawn the next day as he could prepare us something to eat before checking out. The hotel as a very reduced private parking space. 4 or 5 cars max. And if you park there you should leave your car keys in the front desk. Sometimes they need to move some cars so that others can leave. In the shower, the hot water tends to take a little bit too much time to appear and the water pressure could be better. The bedroom floor makes some noises, since the wood is old, but not so much of a problem.

The staff of the Monte Carlo were so accomodating. They upgraded our family to an amazing room at the top of the hotel which made watching the New Year's fireworks display all the better. Not to mention an amazing view of all of Funchal. I hope one day they will be able to expand their breakfast area to offer snacks such as sandwiches, chips and the like. Would be nice for people that just want a quick bite when feeling a little hungry.

The location, the pool and the views are wonderful. The staff especially Victor were very helpful and obliging. The rooms at the front of the hotel are lovely and well decorated. The rooms could be a little cleaner in the kitchenette studios, some needed external painting and wiring updating.

Ninteenth Century hotel inthe middle of Funchal Old Town-ideal for family. Excellnet views over the town, and superb for the Funchal New Year fireworks- an almosr complete 360 degree elevated view. Relaxed and old-fashioned atmosphere. Bathroom rather antiquated, with drains smell.

Gammel engelsk atmosfære. Uprætentiøst. Ligger højt med pragtfuld udsigt over Funchal og Atlanterhavet. Fantastiske solopgange. God morgenmad. Venligt og hjælpsomt personale. Noget nedslidt, men med meget behagelig atmosfære. Kræver gode ben, hvis man vil gå op og ned fra byen, men taxaer er billige i Funchal. Meget god værdi for pengene.

Die Lage des Hotels in Funchal ist sehr gut , BlicK über die Stadt, liegt sehr Zentral. Die Sauberkeit der Zimmer, die schlechte Matratze in einem der Betten, jede Springfeder war einzeln zu spüren und total durchgelegen, sie wurde auch trotz reklamierens nicht ausgewechselt.

Beliggenheden var fantastisk med en skøn udsigt til by, bjerge og hav. Gammeldags stil og man kunne mærke at det havde været et rigtig fint hus en gang. Hotellet ligger tilbagetrukkent fra byen, så der er ingen støj og samtidig er man midt I byen.

Super schönes stillvolles Hotel (bitte immer die Preiskategorie beachten!) mit einem tollen Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir hatten Zimmer 214 mit einer gigantischen Aussicht auf Funchal und den Hafen mit den Kreuzfahrtschiffen.

Sehr sympatisches, günstiges Hotel mit traumhaftem Blick auf Funchal. Das Haus ist aus den 30/40er Jahren und sieht wie ein Hotel aus einem alten Hollywood-Schinken aus. Nettes Personal, guter Service, Sauber, sehr empfehlenswert. Es gibt Parkplätze für 7 Kleinwagen, in der Nebensaison war's o.k., aber in der Hauptsaison könnte es etwas eng werden.

Den fantastiske beliggenhed med udsigt over Funchal og bugten. Den hyggelige terrasse med venlig og diskret betjening Den gammeldags pensionatstemning/Den uspolerede, charmerende atmosfære. Det rummelige, højloftede værelse med panoramaudsigt Gratis og ukompliceret netadgang på hotellets pc Håndvaskens afløb var stoppet Der er ingen busforbindelse. Man må gå op ad bjerget eller køre I taxa. Ingen mulighed for middag på hotellet. Ingen wi-fi
