a modern and well appointed hotel. It is well away from Funchal town , and very peaceful as a result. The gardens and terraces are beautiful , and the views across Funchal can probably not be bettered. We enjoyed a suite which was very comfortable, and had we known how good it would be,would have liked to have stayed longer. |

Everything was clean, excellent pool area and beautiful garden. Good breakfast. Amazing view from the restaurant to Funchal bay. Hotel staff helped to organise day trips. Noisy road just below balconies, so I didn't use balcony very much. Courtesy bus service only a couple of times per day. Hotel quite far from Funchal but easy to reach by local busses. |

The hotel was well appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was clean and very comfortable and the view from our balcony was fantastic. The breakfast, with an ocean view, was excellent. The carpet placed on the tiled floor in the corridors did not lie flat and it could have been dangerous for people unsteady on their feet. |

A good 4 star hotel. Good value for money. Very nice views to Funchal and to the ocean. Quiet and clean. A bit far away from city center (Funchal). They have a free bus, but the last one is very early... Best to have your own car (although difficult to park then in the city center) Not directly about the hotel, but there were no road indications to it... The GPS didn't have the hotel in its database, neither its street... |

Excellent staff. Very good restaurant with fantastic sunset view and fair prices - don't miss it! Location. Firstly, most rooms face the busy road, so it is quite noisy at night (you must close all the windows and use soundproof curtains, otherwise you have no chance to fall asleep). Secondly, there is no room to go for a walk nearby, except along the above mentioned busy road which goes rather steep up and down. |

I enjoyed the location of the hotel (not in the city) and the see view, especially from the terrase of the room of my friends (104 room). The staff was very helpfull. Rate was really fair. Good to have an access to internet. I did not like the breakfast at all: fruits and juices not always fresh, hot dishes - very bad, the selection of food was really small, every day the same. |

The reception staff were excellent and gave an excellent impression on what could be expected for the rest of the stay. Our maid was kindness itself. Although this is a 4 star hotel the quality of the food in its restaurant perhaps left a bit to be desired. If the food was up to the standard of the staff there would be little to beat it in Madeira. |

A quiet, relaxing location in a lovely position overlooking Funchal. It is complemented by an excellent restaurant with very courteous, helpful and friendly staff. The free, courtesy bus was very useful for day trips to the city centre but an evening service would also have been very welcome. The breakfast menu was very acceptable considering the discounted rate we paid for the booking but I would suggest however that those paying the full hotel web site advertised rate in excess of €100 pppn would have expected much greater value for money. Although not applicable in our case, it should also be noted that there is an extremely limited (virtually nil) evening menu choice for those guests that prefer a vegetarian selection. The lunchtime (sandwich only) menu for the terrace bar was also very restricted and could have been far more appealing if other salad style snacks were offered. |

The location of the hotel is very good with a fine view to the ocean and Funchal it is impertinent, to place an additional campbed in a twin room and to sell it as a 3-personsroom. Furthermore it is inpracticable that the last hotelbus is running at 6.30pm from Funchal to the hotel. |

The view was great from the rooms and the swimmng pool was really lovely. A small negative was getting back to it in the evenings without the courtesy bus. The walk back from town isn't actually that far provided one doesn't get lost ! - so a map specifically showing the route into town would be great |

Relaxed atmosphere There should be a better bar/food service at the poolside. The main bar in the hotel also shuts far too early by midnight the lights were being turned off and the bar closed. |

Very good value for money compared to other hotels in Funchal. Hotels courtesy bus to Funchal only runs four times a day. The service should be upgraded to 6-8 times/day. Also hotel should serve pure fruit juice at breakfast instead of diluting option which is disgusting and undrinkable. |

Lovely hotel - all rooms beautifully furnished with balconies facing the sea. Nice pool and gardens at roof level. Located near to Funchal - but in a rural setting with plenty of car parking. We had a hire car - you really need one here to get the most from your holiday. |

Beautiful ocean views, nice roof terrace with the garden, swimming pool, sauna etc.; champagne for breakfast was a nice touch. Breakfast staff was absolutely horrible. I am not certain what on what selection criteria they hire, but if they are trying to live up to their stars, then the staff as well should be aware of polite manners, customer treatment and service with a smile. |

Very quiet hotel. Located far from the center, not as far as the description says. The children are not there to do, because the hotel is primarily for the elderly, who want peace and quiet of lying on the basin. Breakfast lacked vegetables. |

The hotel is in a wonderful posistion; and has beautiful gardens; the staff are all very proffesional; but also very friendly; the hotel provided a courtesy coach to take you into Funchal; and we found that our room and all areas of the hotel were always clean; and that there was always a feeling of space. Excellent reception staff; very helpful. We found that the matteress on the bed was rather firm; compared with our own. |
