A really nice hotel situated in the Alfama district. The city center and the main attractions can be reached down the hill on foot within 10 minutes. The best way to go back to the hotel at night is by taxi (cheap, costs around EUR 5,-). A lot of typical portugese restaurants are located near to this small hotel (try "Tasca do Manel"). The hotel rooms are extremly comfortable, the service quality is outstanding. Book a romm with a small terrace - the view over Lisbon is - especially at night - amazing!!! I definitly recommend this hotel!

Hotel was excellent.I had said it was our anniversary and we had a complimentary bottle of bubbly in our room when we arrived which was much appreciated. Terrace was lovely especially at night sitting overlooking Lisbon.Breakfast good as well. Reception staff spoke very good English and were very helpful. Only small point seats on terrace were for lounging in the sun and not for sitting enjoying a drink and a chat. Also the hill it is on is certainly steep may not be for everyone, trams going up and down help, but they were always packed.

Location. If you can walk up & down hill, you can exploree the old city - and walk down to the river and the new city. Friendliness of the staff, who did everything from booking excursions to arranging for boarding cards for our on-line booking. Overall comfort. Our suite was everything we'd expected it to be. Eating at small local retaurants which proliferate within walking distance of the hotel and which charge reasonable prices. Excursions by people carrier. paid for separately and booked via the hotel, and, in our case, one whole day trip in a group of four, and another full day with only the two of us The hotel was first rate. We tried tourest bus tours - and found them crowded and subject to delay. Don't do it unless desperate!

The hotel has a great location and wonderful staff. Our room was very comfortable with a big balcony. Breakfast was also very good with plenty choice. We all really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. The walk to the castle is best if you go right as you exit of the hotel. Three restaurants are off to the left as you exit the hotel. We ate in Costa do Castelo and had a good meal. We also ate in the hotel.Be sure to do tram 28 and try the custard tarts !

Excellent location in the old town overlooking Lisbon. Nice room with a terrace and a view. No restaurant in the hotel. Squeeky bed meant we did not sleep too well. Rather expensive (145 euros/night in November).

The staff were especially nice and helpful in every way! I would choose to stay at Olissippo Castelo again and will recommend your hotel to family and friends. The price and location were great. Even though I was in meetings at the Congress Center for most of my time in Lisbon, I felt like I got to experience a bit of the city and people by staying at your hotel. The walls are a bit thin (not much you can do about that, though) so could hear showers, toilets and voices. Fortunately the other guests on my floor were mostly quiet, so was not a big problem.

The friendlyness of the employees was outstanding. The location was great. The room size was good. Due to overboking we have been transfered to another hotel in a higher class. The organisation of this was well organised and managed. We always felt welcomed. From my point of view the rooms are too clairaudient. The breakfast area could be a little more invetational.

We stayed one night in the hotel, we were upgraded from a deluxe room to a suite. The room had a very nice terrace with view over Lissabon. It was our first nigth in the city and was really great. Breakfast is normal continental but one founds all necessary. The garage is very small, we were lucky to find place but I can immagine it can be full. And it is quite expensive, 14 Euros /day but... Thinking at the suroundings, one can understand. Don't go there by car... The hotel is in the middle of the Alfama, under the Castel and all streets goind there are only for pedestrians. We wre lucky to arrive late in the evening because during the day even more strees are closed. Just don't go by car, we lost 2 hurs to find the hotel and at the end we asked a taxi to bring us there.

The hotel is situated in a very convenient place for sightseeing around Lisbon, it is within walking distance of many places, also the tram is at the end of the road which is convenient for going downtown. The Alfama area of town is just a few roads away and this is a very interesting part of Lisbon. There are many restaurants close by so after a busy day sightseeing it is easy to have a meal in the evening. The hotel serves a very good breakfast with lots of choice and starting from 7.30am to 11.30am will suit early or late risers. The staff were helpful and cheerful and always happy to help with suggestions and directions.

The hotel's location is great - it is on a calm street closed to main traffic and at the same time close to the city's attractions. Our room and bathroom were big and very comfortable, clean and with a very nice complimentary kettle for the afternoon tea and coffee. Breakfast was great, with fruit, cereal, good bread, juices etc. Staff was always helpful and had excellent tips about where to go and how to get from one place to another. Very good benefit for the cost. The room service menu is very limited: a few sandwiches and omelettes. They were good, but when the third night came for us to order food in the room, we wished we had more choice. Also, the room still had one of those old TVs, it is time for them to think about a flat-screen.

The staff was awesome. Super friendly and very helpful. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotless. The breakfast buffet was was very good with a nice variety of foods. There are a number of nice restaurants within a 5 or 10 minute walk and the castle was also only a few minutes away. The location was very quite at night. I thought the 50 euro deposit for the room safe key was annoying. Other than that, no complaints.

It was clean and the frontdesk staff were friendly enough. I do not believe it can be a 4 star hotel. The towels are thin and well used, but clean. We specially booked the superior room, but it was not anything like it shows on the internet. The kids room was actually bigger than ours but had 2 beds in it, but a lot cheaper. I saw many other 4 star hotels in the area and this does not compare to that at all. The breakfast is not wonderful and stays exactly the same every morning. The coffee is awful. The cooked food and coffee taste like it was made the previous day.

Great furniture in the room. Very good breakfast. Walls are a bit sound conducting. The hotel is on a narrow street on a hill, but nothing that a taxi or ability to walk can¨t deal with.

Location in a lovely area near Castello de Sao Jorge one of the big tourist attractions in Lisbon was great.. It's a small hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a suite which was very large and comfortable. The view from my room .was beautiful. The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet. It's close to the route of the nr 28 tram which brings you to the city centre. Breakfast was good. There was free internet.. If you are a solo female traveller as I was for two nights of a four night stay you might prefer a hotel in a busier more downtown location in a more touristy area.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms with a balcony were lovely and comfortable. The location was great, very close to the castle, in a quiet area not too far (15min walk) from center of town. The breakfast was adequate but not amazing, I prefer more options. There were a lot of steps involved walking to/from city center. We were two 35 yo women in fairly good shape and we were always winded getting back, but we enjoyed the exercise.
