Not a problem for us, but others should know that you must walk both up and down steep streets or take cabs. We loved the walking!
The staff at the reception were helpful, friendly and professional specially Luis. Breakfast was fine too. The tram stations not far. We had a pleasent stay at this hotel
Not easy to find in the old city
Very familiar, kind atmosphere. Everything you need for a city trip. Not the very top but fair price
Neighbourhood needs some restauration. Coffee was not so good, but they put an expresso machine on site.
Breakfast Bar Bar food Bedroom nice but small Terrace nice Air conditioning Bath Staff
My room key being cancelled before I checked out Not great selection on bar food menu Location of hotel hard to get to on foot
Everything, specially the Location and service!
Better with double bed, two individual.
NIce décor and spacious room. Very good complementary breakfasts. Generally helpful staff.
Location is on steep hill and not much around until you walk down one or the other way -- a bit remote from restaurants, shops and central activity. After a long morning of travel, there was over an hour delay from check in to get room ready for occupancy; not very apologetic.
Great friendly and helpful staff Nice big rooms, spotlessly clean Plenty of restaurants nearby Easy to get to tram and castle & centre of town. Good breakfast
Plastic mattress protector just under sheet was a bit sweaty - particularly in warm weather! Neighbour left small yappy dog locked on balcony for several hours one day, which was a bit annoying, but not hotel's fault.
Lovely big room with view in our favourite part of Lisbon (castle and Alfama area).
1.The staff was very helpful, even the single lady taking care of breakfast for 20 people on Sunday. 2. Excellent wedding surprise for us and very good room service. 3. Lovely robes, slippers and toiletries. 4. Wonderful linen and a very comfortable bed.
Breakfast (guests have to wait in line, not enough staff for basic service). Stifling air in the room - we could not endure the air conditioner so we had to keep the balcony door open.
the central hotel site with almost no traffic noise; friendliness of personal
sound suppression of our room was poor; breakfast location is located uncomfortably in the hotel lobby
We had had a very difficult trip over and we were exhausted. Front Desk manager upgraded our room and made sure there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the room. Very special views of the city from the balcony, and just an excellent location.
There was nothing we didn't like.
My husband and I loved the location. The staff had graciously upgraded our room to a suite with a fantastic view. And they were so helpful in helping line up a fantastic food and wine tour with Eco Tours. The breakfast was exactly what we needed so I would highly recommend this hotel.
At first the location in one of the narrow cobbled streets of Alfama was intimidating. But once we found our orientation and found out how to get around we really enjoyed being in Alfama. The tram was handy and the local restaurants presented great and cheap meals. The hotel itself was a great 4 star.
The location is convenient and quiet if you're for a day trip to Lisbon. They have their own parking, though tight. Nice bar.
The service desk is often empty because the receptionist is also serving the food, taking dishes, perhaps something else. The breakfast is good but the food trays are not refilled often so if someone takes the last piece just before you come, you are unlikely to try this meal.
Small nice hotel. Excellent view. And I got Champagne on my birthday, perfect. Very nice and helpful staff.
We booked for three days and stayed five out of our nine nights in Portugal. Thanks to the staff who were exceptionally helpful in arranging tours, entertaining, and dining for us. The hotel has few rooms but very personalized service, excellent breakfast, and the price was right. We felt at home and we left Portugal as we had made new friends. The location of the hotel was within walking distance to most of the sights we were interested in seeing in Lissabon, but leave your high heels at home and bring rubber soles instead because most pavements are cobblestoned.
Arriving from the airport our taxi charged us 11 Eu which was during the day but when we left, the taxi ordered by the hotel charged us 27 Eu, it was 6 A.M. but we found it excessive compared to what other taxis charged even late at night.
Excellent spacious room with balcony and very comfortable bed. excellent variety of food and drinks available at breakfast with very friendly staff. The location is near to many of the sights of Lisbon.
Driving there can be challenging so take a taxi
We received a free upgrade and a bottle of champagne when I told that we were engaged during the stay at this hotel. The personnel arranged at the last some rose pettals and gave me good advise about romantic places in the neighbourhood. In addition, the view of this hotel is wonderful.
big room with balcony
only breakfast available
Old world charm in a boutique hotel, a throw back to a bygone era.
The hotel is on a tiny little road at the top of one of the many hills in Lisbon. We chose a room with a terrace and the view of Lisbon was lovely. the room was spacious and comfortable. We were very clod to Castello St. Jorge. We would recommend a city tour by bus or tram. We stolled down to the Chiadre district in the evening which was lovely and had many restaurants to chose from.
The bathroom was a little musty
There is no real restaurant
The position just below the Castle gives outstanding views of the city; rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious; bathrooms very well equipped; easy to walk to trams in Alfama for transport to town (provided you know the shorter way to go!); easy walking down to town and good to wander around the old part; breakfast good; staff very friendly and helpful
Nothing! Apart from taxi driver from coach station didn't know where hotel was and dropped us off at castle and then it was a long walk to the hotel with cases as we didn't know the shorter route then. We do now, but that's not the hotel's fault.
- Nice view from the balcony - Location is good if you don't mind walking up the hill everyday - Room was big - Hotel offered a free bottle for a birthday which was a great start! too bad it didn't continue long!
- Very loud (we had a room next to the lifts and could hear neighbors as if they were in our room) - Staff was unfriendly, not smiling, not giving tips of things to do around, not even asking if we had a good stay after checkout. One night we came back at midnight, hotel entrance was closed with curtains in front we rang the bell and were asked impolitely for our hotel key card. Are we guests or disturbing??!! Glad other people in Lisbon were very kind and friendly with us - Soap wasn't replaced after first day, we had to share 1/3 of a very small bottle the next day, cheap savings that irritate.... - Breakfast is pretty bad: cold eggs, dry bread and cheap coffee. Too bad for a city who proposes delicious pasteis everywhere - Balcony lacks of privacy, why don't you think of separating each room's balcony with plants or something else?
Staff were very helpful.Location excellent for visiting castle and other sites and very close to tram.
Offers parking but relatively expensive.Otherwise narrow streets and difficult to find parking.
